I personally love these kind of videos where you bring the history behind the current style/fashion. This gives a sense of dressing with reasoning and logic where you can justify your piece of clothing. Love this research based content. Keep it up
Hey Antonio! Great video on the origin and history of Blood Chits! During my Navy career, I had the privilege of doing a tour as a SERE Instructor in San Diego. I was there towards the end of my 20-year career from August 1988 through April 1992. I think it was one of the best assignments in my career and was absolutely career-enhancing. I came in as a newly minted Senior Chief Petty Officer, and I made Master Chief Petty Officer the first time up. We discussed Blood Chits in-depth as well, and they were definitely in use, as you say, through all those conflicts as well as during the Gulf War. In fact, when an Instructor leaves SERE, we always ensure they leave with a good supply of memorabilia to remember their time at SERE. When I left, I was the Senior enlisted member at the SERE school in San Diego, so I left with just a tad more - including two framed Blood Chits (front and back). They are sitting very proudly on my office wall - I can see them as I write this. Unfortunately, I can't post a picture on this comment, but rest assured they hold a place of honor. I have always appreciated your videos on men's fashion. For my time in the Navy, I never really needed to decide what to wear to work - it was always decided for me. :) Now it's a decision I look forward to in the morning. I always appreciate it when you're able to work military history into your videos. I see people wearing military items, and they really have no idea what they're wearing. I got promoted a couple weeks ago, an the position doesn't require the company's t-shirt anymore but also there is no dress code so you can dress as you want as long as is not overly casual. The necktie part made me think of that and MAN does it feel good to wear a suit back again just cause have fun mixing and matching shirts ties and suits. I just love it.
1. The DUFFLE COAT also comes to mind. It's also known as the "Monty Coat", and it's the only coat with a hood. Its toggle fastenings are typical as they can be closed when wearing handgloves. 2. The TRENCH COAT, which betrays its military heritage by sporting epaulettes and little D-rings, originally for fastening handgrenades. 3. WATCH STRAPS ("NATO-straps"), mostly in the colours of a regiment.

I have an OD Green, 5.11 TDK that I bought back in 2018. Teflon coated, it’s never stained, and I wear it to this day. If I have to wear shorts, I wear that kilt if I can. It’s functional, allows for a larger range of motion, and, with the right shirt/sweater and boots, looks badass!!! They don’t make the one I have anymore, but I definitely recommend a 5.11 Tactical kilt to anyone that wears a kilt. Definitely an essential addition to your kilt collection!!!
I wear tartan kilts for most social occasions. I don't own any solid color kilts, but they can be very traditional. I also think a lot of contemporary kilts look sharp. Traditional kilts have an advantage for versatility. They can be worn with the most formal of outfits, but also can be dressed down to work in the most casual of outfits, just by switching the other things you're wearing. Camouflage … I would lump that in with cargo shorts, cargo pants, etc. They all make sense if you're doing an activity that requires them (e.g. hiking, fighting a war). In terms of versatility, they have none. They only work with *the most* casual of outfits. They won't even work for smart casual.
Great video Antonio. 5.11 is indeed no joke! I discovered them years ago and got lots of their clothing and bags. For example; As jeans I only wear 5.11 tactical Defender slim jeans and as my EdC bag I got the 5.11 Tactical Push Pack 6L. Looks small, but you can fit lots of stuff in it and it is made solid. Also for work I use messenger bag from 5.11.

They make awesome clothing and the additional pockets do realy come in handy... and not all are visible which makes it also easy to carry stuff with you, you want to hide from people with bad intentions. I don't know if you can get UF Pro over there, but if you can check those clothing out also. Just like 5.11 very high quality. My t-shirts and polo's are all from this brand and like 5.11, just love how it fits and use of materials. Just to make it clear; UF Pro is not MMA related, but like 5.11 towards military and first responders.
I would welcome a part II for military origin clothing. I used to wear camouflage all the time in college and later in the military. Not anymore. But I still have 2 different leather flight jackets, one with a chit on it.
Bugout vid would be cool. Maybe another video showing military style clothing like 5.11 for everyday wear. Some of us like the purpose built yet professional look of that style clothing but to mention contractors and such.
When it's camo, it can also depend on the pattern. Camo pants or shorts are reliable and trendy. As far as a pattern, the pattern can also be a fashion statement. That also depends on where you are as well. Woodland, UCP, and 3 color dessert are pretty common. Tiger stripe on the other hand is rare but iconic.
Antonio, thank you for puting out all these videos! I'm 30 and starting taking clothing seriously becuase I wanted to stop dressing like a kid. Your channel helped me update my style and the complements I get from my peers make me feel like a king. This video blew me away because most of what I wear is here. My usual outfit is boots, khaki chinos, button-up with a tie (sometimes) and a sports coat (sometimes), with aviators. It's ironic that after I left the Air Force I wanted nothing to do with the military and yet my clothes are almost entirely based in military history.
I avoid camo as a rule because I wore it enough in the service, unless it is special like a team camo jersey. I love kilts, wore one as part of my dress uniform and will happily rock one anytime. Takes stones to wear that and Im a Scottish descendant. Some units not only have ties but also ascots as well.
Heels. Boots with heels were worn by cavalry soldiers to fix better the boot to the stirrup. Later were worn by a king of France and the noblemen. And much later women began to wear them. My favourite military jacket is the sahariana, by the way.
You could do a whole video on kilt dress and etiquette. They're becoming more popular and there's one for every type of event. Sport kilt, utility, tactical, casual, semi, and full dress. I'm sure I missed a few. Lots of history, differences between Irish, Scottish, and English. There's a right and plenty of wrong ways to wear them. Would make some good content. I've freed myself from pants prison!!!
My late grandfather always had a pocket (fob) watch and never owned a wristwatch. He had a fob chain connected to his belt loop and put the watch in his pocket. He never wore belts either but Fireman brand braces. One of the things that would really set off a vest was a nice fob chain. WWI pilots wore silk scarves so their necks didn’t chafe on their leather jackets as they were constantly turning their heads looking for the enemy fighters.
Personally love to wear camouflage as a way to support the military (within the range. My dad and grandfathers served, so I support their service and friends I have currently serving).
I currently have a goatskin A2 bomber jacket from Cockpit USA Also a navy peacoat from Ralph Lauren. And finally, I currently have two Burberry trench coats and kakis.
I'd like to see you do a video on capes and cloaks and if you think they could have a place in modern men's fashion. one thing to consider is that they are talked about frequently in fencing treatises as defensive weapons

However, I wish they’d branch out to the more gentlemen side of the house with full on suits and more posh city style clothing. While I don’t typically wear that kind of stuff (idk it makes me feel not confident but weird) it’d be nice if they encompassed ALL gentlemens wear with that CCW mindset. Hi Antonio. I have been a fan of 511 Tactical for a long time. My favorite pants are the 511 Stryke pants. They have pockets for everything that I need. Paired with 5.11 Freedom Flex Short Sleeve Shirt they cover basically anything that I need for casual wear. My "Uniform" for my contract business was 5.11 Stryke pants in Tan plus a 5.11 polo in Black and a Navy Sport Coat. I also have 2 5.11 kilts in Multicam and TDU green, super comfy and I love th fact that they were originally created as an April Fools Joke. (look it up)

The MA1 WAS NOT FIRE RESISTANT. The MA1 was worn by flight crews over a fire resistant flight suit, but the MA1 caused problems in fires because the melted goo needed to be pealed off rescue personnel. For that reason the MA1 was replaced by the CWU-36/P and CWU-45/P both of which are made of fire resistant materials.

Used 5.11 during deployment and before that, sadly the weakest part of 5.11 pants is the canvas used for trouser pockets. Pockets are good about couple month and after that you have huge hole.
Yes, I wear kilts. I don't like camo and I served, front line duties. I prefer the khaki, olive green, tan solid colors for work kilts. But I do like BDU like clothing, especially with pants.
