Only thing I gotta point out is this: Johnny Silverhand's gun is actually still good *if* you spec into a build for it that basically makes you Johnny himself, since the gun in the actual lore was custom designed and made for his chrome arm.

Also, CP2077 has item damage at spawn be determined by your level - a common weapon that spawns when you're level 50 is going to be much stronger than even a legendary iconic weapon you got towards the beginning of the game. This can be made up for somewhat with the crafting mechanic, though it may take more components than it's worth.

The Axe of Godfrey wasn’t doing anything because they didn’t have enough strength to use it. If they did there would have been a massive shockwave after planting the axe and they’d have started glowing red. That indicates a damage boost and a new heavy attack moveset. Still suffers from being a colossal weapon but it can be a fun niche in pvp that most people underestimate since the range of the shockwave is so large and the heavy attacks are so strong

Dont forget, Its Shockwave bypass shields and do full damage even when blocking, and for bosses it does good poise damage

Pyramid Head’s Giant Knife is intentionally unwieldy and hard to use. It’s described as being a “burden on whoever wields it” and can actually one shot one of the bosses in Silent Hill 2 if I remember correctly. It’s a curse and James having it is not a good thing.

Hearsay from another comment but: if you leave your flashlight off, and just drag it around like Pyramid Head, monsters will leave you alone as Pyramid Head goes after other monsters too

If I’m remembering correctly, it’s a burden to the user because it’s supposed to represent the weight of one’s guilt, and since Silent Hill tends to pick up people with some really heavy baggage they need to unpack, anyone who would find the great knife will automatically have a hard time using it because of that. It’s a really cool concept to put into a weapon, honestly

To be fair to Devil May Cry, the possession of both brother's swords is a plot point across many of the games. It's pretty much implied that Virgil would not be capable of using Dante's own swords with as much efficiency as Dante himself can.

@@christopheranderson2279 well, Vergil actually has always used the Force/Mirage Edge blades in *tandem* with the Yamato, duel wielding them, because hes not nearly as experienced with the force edge. In DMC 5 he has multiple combos and attacks like Deep Stinger that are stated to specifically use the Yamato as well as the Mirage Edge.

Seconded! Especially for boss weapons that are worth it. The Hollowslayer Greatsword you can get from transposing the soul of the Curse-Rotted Greatwood spring to mind immediately. Farron Greatsword from the Abyss Watchers' soul is another one.

Another one from Cyberpunk would be Guts. I think it may be the best shotgun in the game, I have only once found a shotgun that beats it in DPS but after a single level-up Guts came back out on top. And its previous owner was an absolute boss.

@@alzingafagan7501 Also we don't know what Johnny attributes/perks were in the past, he could of been a Reflex 20, Cool 20 badass. ... also the screens from the video. L26. But I do think to other Legendary/Iconics it was low on "bonus stats" compared to other pistols. If your specced for pistols, often you were silenced revolver and using stealth. If you were shooting through walls, you were using Widowmaker.

I honestly thought the coiled sword would’ve made the list. When the Soul of Cinder uses it he can transform it from a greatsword into a spear, curved sword, staff, an ultra greatsword, yet when we get it all we can do is throw down a row of fire

That axe is decent if you have the stat requirement. The poise it gives you during the attacks I was able to attack non stop through the rune bear attacks and kill it. In a streight slug fest

The thing with Dante and Yamato is that the sword is not his style, he doesn't like using his decease brother's signature weapon, you can feel that he clearly had some sort of respect and love for his at the time death brother, Nero does use the sword way better but you can clearly see Dante holding back in the entire game.

Nero could only use the Yamato during his Devil Trigger so I would argue he's even worse at it. And after losing his arm ( or rather Vergil taking it back ) and losing Yamato he can't even manage that.

More than that the Yamato is the physical manifestation of Virgils power just as the Rebellion is the manifestation of Dantes. I imagine no amount of training would let Dante fully use the Yamato and vice versa for Virgil and the Rebellion.

You know what kind of sucks (not a lot, but enough)? The Demon's Great Hammer in Dark Souls 1. You have to beat the Asylum Demon unarmed at level 1 to get it or in NG+, and it's worse than the Demon's Great Axe which is just a rare drop from a boss that becomes a regular enemy later.

The probkem is the skill required to use it as dante is alot higher then when playing vergil. Since its not accessed by regular means and is locked to a style then a weapons slot so using it with dante's play style is alot harder

I believe it's D4nte, N5ro, and V3rgil that are the hardest to master. The numbers mean which game they're from btw; Terminology from the community to make things shorter.

Bear in mind that Dante and Virgil both got different aspects of the powers of the demon Sparda. So Virgil's sword is designed to help him make the most of the powers he got from Sparda. I imagine that Virgil would have the same issues if he tried to use Dante's sword.

you would actually be right, this is why Virgil loses his final fight against Dante in dmc3, because he tries to use the Sparda instead of Yamato during that duel, even though the sparda, as has been shown many times, fits dante much better than virgil.

It's an interesting detail. It's implied that Dante and Vergil share the same ability of Instant Devil Arm Mastery (Dante's got 5 games to show that off; Vergil showcased it with Beowulf), but when it comes to each other's weapons/style, there's a very clear issue that Dante can't unleash the full power of Yamato, while Vergil can't use the Force Edge as effectively. Which is why they both keep *Their* weapon on hand when using their opposite weapon. (Dante's Dark Slayer is a Style; Vergil still wields Yamato in tandem with Force/Mirage Edge and often dual wields the two.)

In Baldurs gate the final boss wields the sword of chaos a two handed sword +5 with a few other effects that he can easily cleave you in two with, in the sequel you get offered the sword in exchange for freeing a djinn but because it’s no longer infused with the bosses godly might it’s now only a +2 weapon and rapidly outclassed by other weapons you find

Since you guys mentioned The Sword of Eden, when you finish all the Tombs of the Fallen in Valhalla, you unlock an extra dungeon like area that gives Eivor one of those weapons…complete with the laser beam being shot out of it whenever you lock-on to an enemy :D

Its not a boss weapon then lol and even in valhalla its still a nerfed version shooting one blade beam vs the literal lightning and the implied mind control/ rally power it had when weilded by other historic figures. I really hate how the eden sword was retconed to no longer be excalibur.

The Yamato part makes sense as to why it isn't as good when you use Dante with it than Vergil. Due to Vergil training with the Yamato and gaining knowledge of it's true power he creates more techniques but on the other hand, Dante just picked it up which only allows him to use basic knowledge from when Vergil and Dante sparred as children

Which is funny since Vergil doesn't get Yamato until both his parents buy the farm. And the thing isn't even his personal Devil Arm like Force Edge was for Sparda. Adding that Dante has the most varied arsenal of the DMC cast and shows no trouble using newly acquired gear at its max efficiency. They're just pandering to Vergil's fanbase.

I don't understand this. I'm currently doing a DS3 playthrough and the Dancers blades have been absolutely shredding through everything in the mid game. Like this seems to be a common opinion that they suck but I absolutely love them.

@@sstsalazar no, its just how the mechanics works. split dmg is dog in ds3, and the sword needed split dmg for lore. also its a perfectly good weapon for the vast majority of players who will never pvp. the video used unupgraded ones for the footage also on an ideal build, its not actually that bad.

There's a goofy thing about Johnny's handcannon: Technically it's a dual stat weapon. Most of the time, power weapons scale with Reflexes while tech weapons scale with technology, however, Johnny's pistol is flagged as both, meaning you need to put points into both attributes to get the most value out of the gun.

@@setsuna1f1seiei If you have a ballistic co-processor installed, you can ricochet with it. IIRC, it switches between modes depending on whether you're ADSing or not. It'll ricochett on hipfire, and penetrate with the iron sights.

I got it when I was already max level and even then going into the final mission it was killing most anything with one or two headshots and I could use the awesome flame quick attack so I was happy with it. Hell, I used it to finish off Atom Smasher. It was easily one of the best weapons I had, along with my awesome katana and my 0'Five rifle

Point of order; Jonny's flashbacks are implied to be colored by his own ego. He does massive damage, sure, but he's also a bit of a narcissist, so the exact power level of his gun is debatable.

I mean if I was remembering myself taking down a while building of bad guys I'd rather remember it as bad one hit like instead of having to unload half a clip into each enemy. You don't really feel like a badass against bullet sponges.

I instantly loved the Dancer in DS3 and when I was going for the platinum trophy I had to do multiplayer invasions for covenant items. When I realised I had to do multiplayer (which I can't stand BTW) I decided I would cosplay as the Dancer with their armour and weapons. It actually went really well, the swords are easy to parry and slow if you miss but most people aren't expecting it and if you get that first hit they are basically stun locked until they die. I love the Dancer of the Boreal Valley and their swords.

The assaultron head gun can be extremely useful, if paired with the ghoulish perk, which will automatically heal your radiation damage and heal you at the same time, through each radiation point.

Funny enough, the Dancer's swords were actually overpowered when DS3 first came out, spawning spin-to-win into DS3. They then shortly got nerfed into the ground by fromsoft.

It may be my faulty memory but i played DS3 day 1 and dancers blades were never good except super briefly in PVP. People were just bad and got rekt but week 1 metas formed fast and dark sword and CCS with bleed resin dominated 2016. And then they were always bad in PVE because of just how damage is calculated with resists and all that.

@@mypsizllez I should correct my statement, they were better back then. The blades had better hit-stun, lower stamina cost for the art, and had better scaling until one of the first patches. They were really good in pvp and most likely better in pve than they are now. Sadly now they are garbage unless there's a mod involved.

Experience doesn't matter with Devil Arms, they usually house the soul of the demon they are named for and impart the knowledge and ability to their wielder, so if the weapon recognises you as it's master you automatically become a beast with it

I think the biggest reason Dante couldn't use the Yamato well is due to his lack of "motivation". He sure seemed motivated when getting the King Cerberus weapon though.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned these, but the sword of damokles and staff of Hermes from assassin's creed odyssey: if you fight the owners of the two weapons, they can use the weapons to fire blasts of energy at you, but you can't do that when you get them

The Sword of Aeons in Fable is an odd example. You only get it in the very end of the game and have to murder your sister to activate it, so its insane power (wildly more damaging than the strongest two-handed weapon while being one-handed) is just for rampaging around the postgame. Then the Lost Chapters came out, adding more story content after the normal ending... and nerfing the Sword of Aeons down to "pretty good, I guess". It also adds a good-guy alternative for proper heroes who don't sacrifice their siblings, and it's statistically identical. As is often the case in morality plays, evil is for suckers.

Okay, it's not really a "boss fight" weapon, but it was iconic. In the Outer World's Murder on Eridanos DLC, you see and hear about the iconic weapon of Halcyon Helen, The Needler, over and over. Just to get it and have to shoot actual, low injury needles filled with things that do so little to everyone. Especially with your battle to Ludovico coming up.

(suggestion) Castle Crashers: the "Evil Wizard" boss at the end of the gives you a sword that before had the power to send down fireballs, however, once it gets into yours hands, it pretty much only gives a stat boost (along with a 2% chance of burning, but who cares about that.) Also, since you just finished the final boss, you can now enter the insane store, giving you access to a more powerful weapon.

OK the godfrey axe while not being the best weapon in the game is still 100% decent fully upgraded and at a reasonable level 120 ish. Yeah its slow but the weapon art is pretty cool, does a chunk of damage, stunlocks, buffs damage and changes the heavy attack animations which paired with decent poise armour, works pretty well. Luke didnt even show footage of the weapon being used properly, the character didnt even meet the min req. sadge.

The Cursed version is ass, but the classic isn't bad for the requirements. If you stock up on demon tits, and make it a +4 or something, it will shred OnS. It's one of the strongest weapons in the game. Just needs more stats, compared to others. The Abyss is fine. You just get it way too late in the game to be relevant.

Godrick’s Grafted Dragon, from Elden Ring. Decent damage, but it’s the only fist weapon that doesn’t dual wield by itself, meaning it has a limited moveset compared to other fist (even when powerstanced with other fists). Also, it’s special ability is an uppercut that flings fire all over the floor, as opposed to Godrick’s actually scary flamethrower attack.

I had the complete opposite experience with getting Silverhand's pistol. It far outclassed everything I had and continued to until I finished the game. Turns out, you just didn't have the right build for a cover denying, handcannon of a pistol.

That's true of all of Cyberpunk's weapon archetypes. Which is one of the combat's biggest con. In order to play on the hardest difficulty setting you have to ultra spec into a specific fighting style and not deviate a centimeter. Which meant most of the weapons are going to feel lackluster.

The Sword of Aeons from Fable Anniversary. It's a sword that has the story potential to bring about the end of the world. When Jack of Blades uses it in his boss fight, he uses it to shoot sword beams at you (badass). But when you get the sword by killing your sister, you realize that it's not even the strongest weapon in the game. Not just that; there's also a sword of equal power that you obtain even if you throw the Sword of Aeons away.

In fairness to Dante, the sword is used in a style he's not particularly familiar with. He always uses bigger, heavier swords, and even says something about not being as good as Vergil the one time he slices up a monument. Plus, he might be holding back and also reluctant to use it at all. He passed it to Nero because he saw him and was like "I'm pretty sure that's Vergil's kid so logically he should inherit it" and Nero just naturally wields it much better than Dante can. In any game where you can play as Vergil using the sword it's still insanely powerful, so the fact that it's not as good is pretty much specific to Dante himself

Vratha, the spear in Hades, seems a lot more effective in the hands of Hades than in Zagreus' hands. Technically you can get this spear before ever facing your dad depending on how you equip yourself and do your runs, but it definitely seems to serve your dad better.

Well, Cyberpunk weapon strength is heavy is heavy influenced by the profiency of the wearer through perks. Since its Johnny's gun i think its safe to expect he knew how to use it. If the player character has invested a bit in the right perks its actually pretty strong,specially with the combination of power bullet ricochet and wall penetration. A few upgrades to the gun itself a recommended of course.

Time Stopper is easily one of the worst RM weapons. -You can't shoot while it's active. -Stopped enemies can still damage you if you touch them. -Worst of all, you can't even deactivate it once used, it has to run out of energy. It's only good for cutting Quick Man's HP in half and that's it.

Stone Man's weapon from MegaMan 5 would actually be the worst if Charge Man's weapon didn't exist. You can't shoot and you have to slide to do damage but you can easily take damage if you time it wrong.

@@HylianFox3 It doesn't even kill the robot master it's meant to be weak to from full health (Quick Man). IIRC a full meter of Time Stopper only does 2/3 damage on Normal difficulty, and 1/2 on Hard difficulty.

The Broken Sceptre, from Warframe's Elder Queen fight. During the first phase of the fight, she uses it to force Teshin, the last of the elite Orokin warriors known as Dax, to attack you against his will. After you defeat him, she then uses it to fire beams of energy that push you around like you're an empty shopping cart. In fact, the way you beat her isn't even by damaging her, but by stealing the massive 2-meter long staff, rendering her powerless, and then deciding her fate. Then, in the quest's final cutscene, you remove the part of the staff that gives it all the cool powers, and it becomes a semi-decent, totally ordinary pole weapon.
