@@Tech_Planet I'm an Australian aerospace engineer who was educated in America. Although I love the work people are doing in areas like drones we still need to see them and a lot of other tech as only part of the solutions humanity needs and in some cases they're solutions to problems that don't exist. There is one field I'm 99.99% certain drones are about to become huge. Sorry for the long answer but I think you'll like where I am going with this. So you know where I'm coming from. I've had a series of fairly blunt lessons handed to me over the last 20 years. Before that I was doing a lot of industrial control systems, automation and robotics for manufacturing. In 2002 I met Harrison Schmitt (Apollo 17). Very nice guy and he mentioned Helium-3. At that time all my avenues in aerospace were blocked so I went off to the Australian mining sector. I thought my background mixed with some practical mining experience might open some doors in the "lunar mining" field. 1 - It never opened a single door because that industry is still years away. Even to this day as far as I know I am the only aerospace engineer to have ever helped construct a remote mine or work on an operational remote mine. 2 - I got some blunt lessons in remote site REALITY particularly in site infrastructure and maintenance. When I mean remote some of our mines are in places where the nearest people (for any reason) are 100s of km and hours of travel away. Almost anything you need on site takes a week of road travel and anything you're desperate for is maybe 1 day away on a plane. 3 - The bluntest of lessons I got was in basic infrastructure. Modern society has become so accustomed to basic services we've forgotten its there. Nobody turns on a light and wonders about the power grid. Nobody flushes the toilet and wonders about where it goes or where the fresh water refilling the cistern comes from. I expect that infrastructure is about to become the biggest subject in the world. Forget Kanye West, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin when 1.5 billion westerners can't watch football because the power is out or can't flush the toilet because there's no water THAT WILL CHANGE THINGS. The problem is there's so much neglect it will take decades to fix. That's where drones are about to be huge - INSPECTIONS. Pipelines, power lines, bridges and other stuff needs to be regularly inspected because so much of it is old an poorly maintained. In 2014 60 minutes America said that America has *OVER 30,000 bridges* in need of repair or replacement and they aren't alone. There was the Ponte Morandi bridge collapse in Genoa, Italy in 2018 that happened through neglect. That's just bridges. Where do you think we're at with Power and Water infrastructure? Don't forget there's 2 water systems clean and waste. Then there's things like gas infrastructure as well as rail, road, airports and ports. In many cases nobody knows what needs repair or what needs replacing. As a result nobody knows where to start because there's so much to do. Because there's resource limits with people, materials and money, *SMART WELL INFORMED DECISIONS* aren't a buzz phrase its a matter of necessity. That's where drones are about to become incredibly important - inspections.

​@@roberthaines4221 Done, but the reason I addressed this to the channel host was to encourage people like him to also do some vids on the real issues facing humanity right now and where these technologies can help. There's an awful lot of technology being promoted these days that as "wow factor tech" but if you look at practicalities they are solutions to problems that don't exist or are so far down the priority list they are irrelevant. A few years back when I started to consider what lessons I had learned from building mines in remote places to how we might build a moon base I hit a wall. With a remote mine we can simply order things like pipe, pumps, electric motors and cable. Yes its might take a week but it doesn't cost $4-5 Billion to truck it to the mine. One of the first things they have to do is set up a workshop to start making what they can make so as to reduce what has to be flown there. That means from day 1 we need to be able to extract minerals, make castings, produce raw stock and then make usable parts. So I started watching a lot of RU-vidrs who make stuff. In particular I started watching some of the amateur machinists because they have to operate with very limited workshops and comparing them to the professionals. I did a year of mechanical engineering before transferring into aerospace and I re-discovered just how much I had forgotten. I still watch those channels every week and every week I learn or re-learn something. The biggest lesson I've learned from those guys is we are so NOT ready to build a moon base and even further from building a Mars settlement. Do you know that right now one of the biggest issues facing the world are pipes? I heard the other day that Russia is one of the worlds major producers of pipes. Its another result of the business attitude "we'll just get it from X!" Look at how Elon Musk dismisses any tough questions with "we'll just do" and nobody ever asks how will that actually get done? A while back I got the entire set of papers from a NASA lunar conference and the entire total contribution to maintenance was 1-1/2 pages out of nearly 200. They concluded "we'll just use robots" and that's been repeated and repeated and repeated and NOBODY ever asks how it will actually work. AND its exactly the same thing when it comes to our infrastructure here on Earth. The microphone is constantly being handed to people who's only answer to anything difficult is "we'll just do" and what that really means is "I have no idea but I hope someone does!"

At about 2:34 minutes into the video the UT craft is shown. The nicer picture of it is just a computer image/drawing. Just a minor correction about the craft. Due to the type of ducted fan that propels it (a 70mm Ducted fan), it requires roughly 2,500 to 3,500 watts, to the best of my knowledge. The ducted fan of that type is normally used for model jet aircraft or flying ducted "rockets". Due to the physics of that type of propulsion it cannot be made anywhere near as quiet as a quadcopter. It also requires massive batteries to run the fan, so the ion propulsion can't be adding a large percentage of lift to the machine. I would think since the power supply necessarily weighs vastly more than the 2- or 3-layer structure of Pribanics craft, that the ionic portion is actually somewhat of a hinderance to the flight of the ducted fan part. The earlier lightweight craft that I have patented specifically for lifting its power supply with ions, is really ion propelled. There are about 40 videos of it on my YT channel. It is not just an ion lifter with a lightweight power supply though, because it requires both a particular build and novel power supply to fly with onboard power utilizing ion thrust. One more detail, the thrust to weight ratio isn't too bad at around 1.1 or 1.2 to 1. The thrust per area is lower than for quadcopters though. The earlier ion propelled craft has caried 2 miniature propellant tanks, for use in a vacuum, and its power supply. On an earlier flight it carried a small 1g video camera and video transmitter. when i was a tech apprentice at a power station, i used to make ion thrust motors for fun with an old mega 5kv generator. the application is a lot more useful in space as a propulsion system/ drag reduction, rather than under the influence of gravity.

Ionic propulsion is far more advanced than what is demonstrated in this video. Linda Moulton-Howe, the journalist who investigated then published a couple books about unexplained livestock mutilations received video from an eyewitness in California, who captured a large and unusual object hovering in place near his house. It had odd symbols and some recognizable print on it that she was able to track down. It turned out to be a project sponsored by the government to design and test an aircraft using ionic propulsion. It was similar to the one in this video in that it was built to be very lightweight, but carry no payload. The craft was very large, especially compared to the one seen here. It would have been too large to fit in a common residential two-car garage. I'm convinced the future of flight, including long distance space travel, does not include the use of liquid fuel, solid propellants, or any kind of consumable material that must be replaced periodically. Ionic, magnetic, whatever the solution is, it will have to be a limitless resource that has almost no labor intensive human involvement.

Thank you for your very interesting content, . I would subscribe if the Time spent on showing these amazing drones were longer.!!!! For example the dragon was incredibly interesting , to the point where I am now hunting the net for more information. As I am for each drone shown on your channel . I'm just not satisfied with the length of time you spent on each of the drones . I mean come on .!!!! These are the most amazing and inspiring drones and I got to see a couple of minutes of each.. !!???? My friend this is incredible technology and I'm on the edge of my seat in amazement . Only for the segment to end . Now I am off to search for these on the web. My advice is to spend some quality time on each peice of technology. And don't leave me wanting to know more about the new invention.. Cover the Tec as much as possible. I love this content with a passion !!!! And to end the segments so quickly was disappointing to the point where I have to go out to find out more about them. I think thousands of people would feel the same.. I think this is an important point. I am far from an expert on the subject, but it seems to me that drone developers might benefit from spending more time considering ways to develop their drone-surface interfacing. Perhaps future generations of drones will be more of hybrid ground-air platforms, spending time on each as is more sensible for the task. A drone developer who _begins_ from the standpoint (no pun intended) of being a ground platform and works _towards_ being able to also sustain some flight capabilities, would likely come up with some novel solutions simply because of working in that direction, as opposed to presuming that a drone must always be in the air, only landing when necessary.

I'm no engineer but I would like to see a drone similar to the traditional four blade design but are actually blade-less (Yes I know the blades are there but hidden). Reason being if we can nail that down, then I see no reason it can't be scaled up to blade-less flying cars or passenger vehicles. A flying car based on blade-less drone tech would be a great deal safer for the average person then something with four spinning blades that they need to get in and out of.

A number of groups within the industrial military complex are working with the leading edge new tech. That will empower the current armed forces, for now... With the next generation battlefield weapons. The Military Armies of the World is about to undergo the biggest change in its entire history. As we enter into the age of automation and remote users safely out of harms way of where the real battle is taking place. With the assistance of SatNav real time, and an array of tools that can identify where every soldier is positioned, makes for stealth assassinations to be executed in perfect precision without loss of life to the aggressor. This is the game changer, unless as in a game of chess you are already able to track these incoming and annihilate the enemy before they strike you. A.I. will be the field commander and is already scoring big in this area as it does not have to be mindful of the etiquette of the "Rules of Engagement" any longer as it is third party and the responsibility has been handed over to A.I. Which enable us to get around the one rule that was hampering future progress as we know it. The downsides is that all the big ships and planes are now sitting duck targets for the far more nimble strike force that has been created. E.M.P. drones have been created to bring naval ships and submarines to a standstill, again making them sitting targets just for elimination. The problem we have with technology is that most things that we can think off are out of date by the time we've produced it. What A.I. comes up with is the self evolving battle field tech that literally collects data in real time in the first mission, to then send that data back to HQ, for the next level machine to fine tune and consider other hellfire features to destroy the enemy. Neural Link was meant to be able to interface with the soldier on the battlefield, with A.I. but it was too risky and humans are expendable which was not a good choice. So the Cyborg is the far better option and there is no loss of life, as the design of 1.0 is nearly indestructible Obviously in time, they will be harder to destroy, and why they become the better option to have as your so called "Universal Soldier" accept it is non-human. Bio warfare got a new makeover as we can now deliver any lethal chemical weapon and release it with the drone operator who is safe from any harm. Technologies do eventually come where even the drone can be taken over and can return to base to deploy the weapon it was sent with. Cyber war enters new age with A.I. as it can access multiple platforms and rig to destroy in matters of pica seconds, or even worse still take hostage and utilize the platform for its own nefarious interests. The problem with imagination is that it's not limited, and with every passing second you can ramp it up to the next level and beyond. So I'm looking for a job in the Military Industrial Complex, preferably here in the U.K. as it's my home Country, and why shouldn't we have the best. One million pounds a week for an hours work of imagination should be sufficient to see you wipeout the competition.

The drone that is powered only by ionic energy (or so I think) I already knew it for one or two years ago... it is very interesting, but it will take at least another 5 or 7 years before it is practical, useful and quieter than what they promise And still, there's a high chance that it's just fake (a hoax/scam) or even if it were real, it's not as shocking, revolutionary or incredible/disruptive as thought... but we'll see about that. 😉

Not necessary. It's much easier to make a small, cheap drone with an explosive payload that can fly to a specified location, locate a designated target, fly at the target and explode. You could do this by reprogramming the controller on a $20 cheap Chinese drone and a small charge of CL-20 to make sure the target is terminated.

what we never see, is drones that can automatically land and charge themselves, so they can fly constantly if you want, or have a drone alarm clock that flies around room and lands automatically to charge for the next alarm.

The lightweight ion propelled vehicle with onboard power also mentioned (Self-Contained Ion Powered Aircraft,) is real. Drones? Boo! 🙂 I live in the north of England, and I've had quite enough of camera-quads or multi-rotors or drones (or whatever they're being called this week), thanks. Someone flies one over my house on a direct line to the local infant school, which is about 200 yards away from me. I've spotted it five times so far in the space of two months. It may be making far more flights than I know about, of course - I can only say for certain that I've seen it five times, during the day. I don't know if it's just passing by on a mission to somewhere else, or whether some scumbag really is getting off on filming little kids in the playground, but if I had a shotgun I'd shoot the thing down. On its way back from the school's direction [very important point, that: I have no proof that it's going TO the school, only that it flies over me in the school's direction], it pauses over my garden, hovers, turning slowly, at a height of 80 to 100 feet (very rough estimate). I've no idea who it belongs to or where he (it's probably a he) operates from, but I feel I'm being spied on, and it's incredibly stressful and annoying. I don't know the range of such quads or their battery duration [about 10 minutes?], but there are hundreds of terraced houses in this area, as well as a permanent Traveller [gypsy] encampment about a ten minute walk away. It could come from anywhere. It could even be operated from a car or van that tours the local area, so I really haven't got a clue what's going on. And how do I know I'm being spied on? I don't. But it'd be damn stupid to think otherwise. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I'm a woman, living alone, who's also happens to be extremely (yes, extremely) top-heavy, so what would you think? If your mum, sister or daughter told you that someone was flying a drone over her house, pausing fifteen or twenty seconds, then zooming away again, would you assume it was just some kid fooling around, or that it was someone live-streaming dodgy material to a 'specialist' website? I've reported it to the school, but not to the police, because I'd only be wasting their time. If the school decides to report it to the police, that's a different matter. I don't know the rules or laws about drone flights, but I know when I'm being hassled. Meanwhile, I'm starting to dread going out in my garden, and try to vary my daily routine if I leave the house so that whoever's flying the drone can't plot my movements accurately. Maybe I'm being stupid. Maybe it's just a self-conscious girlie thing. Whatever. But suffice it to say that this video didn't make me feel any more comfortable about drones. As far as I can tell it's a 'hobby' type of camera-quad (moulded white plastic), not a racing machine or one of the big hex-copters. By way of contrast, my immediate neighbour had some major roof repairs done several months ago, and the builder used a camera drone to conduct the survey before putting up any scaffolding. Two days before he started, he put printed notification letters through the doors of sixteen neighbouring houses, giving details of what he'd be doing, when he'd have the drone in the air, where he'd be flying it, what he'd be looking at, as well as a picture of the drone and his own business address and contact details. He also informed the headmistress at the infant school that he'd be in the area. That's what I call a responsible, professional operator. What I find most disturbing about private drone users is their complete anonymity. I hate knowing that my movements may (perhaps) be tracked for possibly (allegedly) criminal purposes. Just leave me alone! The fact is, when I get back from town with a load of groceries, I never know what's going to be waiting for me. So... on the whole, I don't like camera-quads, drones, or multi-rotors. They give me the creeps. I know that angry drone fans will now leap to the defence of their favourite hobby, claiming that drones aren't the problem - people are - but that's a specious argument. Without camera-quads, this kind of thing couldn't happen. So face facts: they're not JUST useful tools or harmless fun; they're ALSO a damn nuisance.

It only takes 1 idiot, flying over private property to spoil it for everyone. I would report it to the FAA, or whatever aviation authority you have there. In America, the FAA is pushing for ID transmitters on all flying crafts, thanks to drones.
