Yep - the person will expect you to contact them within 1-2 weeks. If you don't, two things wil start happening in their mind. They will 1) start wondering whether or not you've moved on or forgotten about them triggering an emotional ego reaction. And 2) they will start to have positive recall - i.e they will start to forget about the reasons they lost attraction and instead start to remember the good times you had together and the initimacy you shared. After 3/4 weeks they will usually snap and reach out to find out what's been going on with you. The key is don't reply straight away and don't accept the first invitation to meet up! The first time they ask to meet up say that youre busy and will have a think about another time. then leave them in suspense for a couple days and then offer to have dinner or smething.

I messed it up. Achieved no contact of about 7 days. Now sent mixed smses which are a big NO. I am back on square 1! But it's worth the try. Thanks for the advice Brad.

It's been a week since my bf broke up with me saying that he wants me to be happy. He said he did it for me since he knows im having a hard time with his situation. I was seeing a girl for 3-4 months. I began to see her when she left her boyfriend whos shes been with for 4 years. She broke up with him because she didnt love him anymore but was still talking to him because she was not ready to let him go, she wanted to stay friends. He is still in love with her. Just wanted to say, I went through a break up 3 months ago and now we're back together. Long story short, she broke up with me. We were together for 7 years. It devastated me and I did all the wrong things for about a month straight and drove her farther away. I did the 30 days no contact and then reached out, build it up with all my courage, teasing, flirting on the phone, only to be rejected the second time and be told that he doesn’t want to be in a relationship with me. And he can see through if I pretend to be ‘friends’ in order to get him back... Should I leave it be and let fate decide? Or trying hanging on as friends? Why were you expecting a response when you're in the middle of NO CONTACT? So yes, can send your ex a birthday greeting on her birthday, just make it quick and direct to the point, end the conversation first too because you're busy (and I'm sure your ex is, too) -- it helps if you really are, so hang out with friends, learn a new skill, etc. Also avoid drama like the plague and don’t get into an argument with your ex at any cost.

Your best bet is still to cut off contact completely for around a month or even more in order to clear your heads. You'd increase your chances of getting your ex back if you've got your sh*t together than if you were doing the opposite of the no contact rule which is begging/pleading or negotiating/trying to woo your ex again. Well, there are a few rare who take their exes back if you beg/plead but it hardly ever lasts since these people are taking their exes back out of pity. So my point is, don't let your ex take you back out of pity, all right? The best way to avoid that is to work on yourself and get your life together by having fun, hobbies, etc. and to stop chasing your ex. By that I mean congratulating just them of course, not my ex, although naturally my ex will hear about it. I wasn't necessarily close to them, - just regularly - but it's a family that's always very attentive to these kinds of things. I always received cards from them as well - birthdays, birth-cards, graduation. Also, it may be a good thing to do, as my ex may find it considerate / sweet and it will perhaps place me back in - or connect me to - her family in her mind. If your ex is in the right age to make his own decisions that’s independent from their parents, then there may still be a chance. Otherwise, it's best to consider moving on from this, okay? I’m not quite sure why parents had to get involved in the first place. It's either you're both too young to date or it has something to do with culture. Hi Brad, I have a question. I broke up with my ex 2 months ago but I still talk to him. I got a new boyfriend whom I care about and treat him nice, but he's kind of cold, ignores me a lot and always wanna be sexual with me and when I say no he goes to sleep and leave me with the words in my mouth.
