I am also native Spanish speaker from Spain and your speaking is amazing but one critique I have is that sometimes it feels like you are speaking Spanish but thinking in English. So sometimes the order doesn't make that much sense of there are extra words that you don't need. But your speaking is amazing anyway 😄

I mean anyone choose what they wanna do with language! Some want to have certificate so they can maybe use them for job and opportunities in foreign countries, others just want to be able to communicate with the people. It’s not always all about having certifications, and it won’t always make you a perfect or good speaker having one. For example is her french certificate with goods grades, even with it you can hear that she definitely need to improve her prononciation, doesn’t mean she isn’t good of course but still. (french is my first language). I like polyglot like ikena or laoshu505000 cause they interact with the people directly! Specially Laoshu who always explain how he learn and that’s it’s not always about being perfect in a language but just communicate and learn about culture. You don’t always need a certificate for that. Wouter is also nice but need more pratice with his language. In the end you start by learning 5-6 phrases then practice to get better and fluent. Not everybody can afford to go to school for a language and even if you pay for it the classical school isn’t always the best place to learn a language, maybe vocabulary and grammar basic at best but that’s all.
@d.s.1409
@d.s.1409 4 года назад
@@majiccouly I know what you mean and I also noticed her pronounciation mistakes in french but my problem with a lot of other "polyglot" people here on youtube is that they want to tell us that they speak for example 12 languages and then they make clickbait titles like learn the language xy in 3 weeks and I also think that they fake the videos sometimes with prepared phrases etc.. most of them would not even pass an A1 or A2 certificate in the 12 languages they "speak" but say that they master the languages. This is my problem with them but of course you do not need certificates to learn a language I agree.
@JoseSantos-el8nj
@JoseSantos-el8nj 4 года назад
Literally, it's pretty stupid how this people says they speak 10-12 languages when they are just beginners. At least they should not say they "speak" those languages, that's bullshit. To have right to say you speak a language you have to be at least intermediate level

Wow. I have to say this, because there is something that I just find perplexing. I get this video on my recommended list, as I assume a number of people who are interested in languages have, and I watch to enjoy seeing someone else who has a love for/interest in languages demonstrate that. But, for some reason, when I go to the comment sections of these videos I keep running into this hatred against Moses McCormick (Laoshu505000). Why? Moses has said many times that he dabbles in a lot of languages. He has learned a few phrases in 50 or so languages, which is impressive in itself, as is his ability to understand the responses of so many foreigners in so many languages. But, he is also proficient in a number of languages. I am fluent, by many standards, in both Spanish and French. I live in Los Angeles and have a number of Spanish speaking friends. I speak with them and their families in Spanish on a regular basis after having studied Spanish in school and continued studying on my own (though I admit that I understand them completely but can't speak at a very high level in return). I studied French on my own and then spent some time in France for business. My spoken French is better than my spoken Spanish, but I could get around in any Spanish or French speaking country without using English. I can tell on my own that Moses is not very strong in Spanish or French, but he can communicate in them, which is the most important thing. Still, those are languages that he came to later, and he has never claimed to be fluent in them. On the other hand, I have a friend and colleague who speaks Cantonese as his native language and who has studied Mandarin since he was young, and he says that Moses has a high proficiency in both Mandarin and Cantonese. He says he's not perfect, but I can say that even this woman, who is very impressive, is not perfect in Spanish or French ... or even English. But no one is perfect in any language. And, according to my friend, Moses could be dropped in the middle of China and would have no problem going on Mandarin alone. My friend also studies Japanese. He took two years of formal classes, and continues to study on his own, and he says that Moses' Japanese is better than his. When I asked him how Moses compares to beloved polyglots like Steve Kaufmann in Chinese, he said that Moses' Mandarin is every bit as good as Steve Kaufmann's. He said that Steve has slightly better grammar, but that Moses is more comfortable and has a bigger overall vocabulary. In fact, he thinks that if he had to choose he would say that Moses' Mandarin is better overall. That surprised me because if you listen to the language learners on RU-vid you would think that Steve Kaufmann is a master and Moses is a fraud. When I read the comments on Moses' channel, I see so many people who are impressed by his knowledge of their language, from Koreans to Vietnamese to those who speak Russian and Arabic. So why all of this hate? Please explain? It boggles my mind. I can only imagine that many of the people who hate on Moses wish that they spoke as well as he does in many of the languages he speaks, so maybe there is some jealousy. But if it's jealousy, why don't I see this kind of criticism of the other polyglots. He seems like a good guy. Is it his popularity? As for MyLangs, I think she is very impressive, and that would be true even if she decided that she would only keep a high level of proficiency in 6 languages and then dabble in a bunch of others for the love of learning something about them.

Absolutely agreed. It is refreshing, because as much flawed as some of these certificates are, once you start hitting the highest levels, it is almost never easy and it definetly proves your language abilities. Many very popular polyglots make it easier for themselves claiming that they were only aiming for C level in speaking, so they totally neglected the other parts. I understand that to some extent, but certificates are built around all 4 skills and proving just one of them does not really cut it. Some state that language certificates do not matter whatsoever, but it is quite tricky to believe their language levels are really as high as they present them, especially as quite a few I have seen use blatantly scripted phrases and whole paragraphs without ever mentioning that. This lady has apparently good C level in 5 languages and her weaker ones are not that bad either, and it is impressive :)

As a native Chinese speaker, I would say her Chinese is fluent and more than enough to communicate with Chinese people. She is amazing considering she has never lived in an environment that use Chinese language. I can notice her accent. Many Chinese have accents too. Because China is such a large country, some Chinese have even stronger accents than her. However, her accent can tell that she is a foreigner.

Really proud of you, and you are really a role model. I myself only speak 4 languages: Russian (native), English (native), Greek (Cypriot native dialect), and French (B2). I am only 14 and hope to learn much more languages, so you are a great influence. Thank you!!!

How do you get so good at languages at that age? I’m 15 and trying to study French after 5,mostly useless, years of French in school and Norwegian, of which I don’t know a single word. I would also argue my English isn’t the best, but I don’t really know about that.
@silent_cipher9308

@@TomasJansen05 hmm French seems like a complicated language but for writing it's easier than speaking coming from a native english speaker because some of the sounds are much harsher. To help you with french is to study verb conjugations that go with je tu il elle on nous vous ils and Elles. That is the most important part of learning french in my opinion. Hope this helps :)
@baaka-baaka

She definitely doesn't sound like she's from Quebec. I personally think she sounds closer to France French than Quebec, but you are right that her French sounds really spanish-y (although I can understand her French pretty clearly regardless). You can listen to songs from French Canadian bands like "Les Trois Accords" and "Les Cowboys Fringants" to hear the difference with the Quebecois accent. Very impressive that you know 4 languages already btw, good luck with the rest of your studies!
@essennagerry
@essennagerry 4 года назад
@@TomasJansen05 The younger you are, the easier it is to learn through lots of exposure to the language. Notice out of these four they listed three languages as their native languages. When I was 15 I had only had formal education in German and my level was B2, but my English was better than my German just because I watched a lot of movies and sitcoms and read stuff on the internet. Granted I was exposed to _some_ English as a kid so I already knew some words and phrases, but I started watching movies and sitcoms with subtitles in my native language at age 13, that's when my English kind of exploded. After some time I started watching them without subtitles because they were easier to find that way and tried my best to spell words I didn't understand into the google search engine, lol. Then when I started watching youtube I engaged a lot with the comment sections. No formal education, but lots of exposure to English starting from 13 years of age. That doesn't mean older people can't learn languages, it's just different. Everyone finds a different method which works better for them, and exposure is always part of it, but kids learn more easily through just exposure.

It's so nice to know that you're studying Vietnamese. You're grammar is perfect but you just need to focus on the tones. I know it's quite difficult for foreigners to pronounce because Vietnamese has 6 tones. You're doing great, keep going !!!! I hope someday you can master it. Cố lên chị nhé.

I really admire you, ive always dreamt to become a polyglot, but up to now i can just speak english cause its my major and a little français parce que je l’apprends comme la deuxième langue étrangère à l’école, en ce moment, 저는 한국어를 공부하고 있습니다, i also know a little chinese and japanese, but im just 17 years old, i hope in the future i will achieve the advanced level of these languages and will become a polyglot like you any day now By the way, you should brush up more on the your Vietnamese tones, cause its not really good, for example, when you say “các bạn” it sounds like “cạc bán”, but you have mastered Chinese, such a tonal language like Vietnamese, so I think your Vietnamese will get better soon

I'm a native vietnamese. For me, your vietnamese is quite fluently but your pronounce is just what you got for the time you spent. I think you have to spend more time to improve your pronounce. Even I'm a Vietnamese and Vietnamese is a tonal language but I still face a lot when I learn Cantonese and Mandarin. Standard Vietnamese has 6 tones and they are not similar Mandarin or Cantonese. Vietnamese, Thai and Cambodian have a ton of vowels instead of consonants in comparison with your studied foreign language. I think this is the key point that help you improving your pronounce.

Luca Lampariello actually speaks many languages with a high level of fluency. I speak six languages. I speak five of them with a very high level of fluency (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and American Sign Language). I'm a professional interpreter in several languages. Not all polyglots flaunt their languages. I guess if I showed all of my languages, I'd get more subscribers. Many polyglots are almost incomprehensible in some of their languages. I strive for a very clear and accurate pronunciation. I'm a beginner in Italian, but Italians say I'm not a beginner because I can express myself well because it's a Romance Language (I was able to learn conjugations and vocabulary very quickly).

If you learn Chinese, you'll have a very good basis for Japanese (in terms of written script) already. You might want to learn Traditional chinese characters as that's what Japanese is based on.
