I'm pleased to present to you the 7 layer face turning octahedron. The goal to this puzzle was to make the all the cuts along the edges fully proportional, and in order to achieve that, I added a curve on the outer most cut to give room to allow the outer most corners to be properly secured. The amount of curve on this puzzle also resulted in 1 additional piece type on each side that wouldn't exist if all the cuts were straight. Overall I'm quite happy with how this puzzle turned out, however I do have to be a bit careful in making an outer most turn as the thin triangle pieces has a tendency to catch, slide out of place, and occasionally fall out if I don't catch it early enough. It is easy to put back in place though, and the rest of the puzzle feels quite stable. I'm not sure if I'll release this version of the puzzle just yet as there a few minor adjustments I want to make to it that I think will improve it's quality.
