Please do a what’s in my pencil case video! I am OBSESSED with stationery. (It’s a bit of a problem) I love your channel so much and can’t wait to watch more of your videos! ❤️
1- do not shop the back to school supplies before school starts 2- don't make long to do lists ! 3- don't overpack your backpack take what you need , heavy backpacks will just make your day worse 4-don't over highlight , highliht only what is IMPORTANT (terms not sentences ) 5- don't listen to music while studying it stops your productivity , listen to white noise 6- study everyday ; a bit does much 7-get enough sleep
i study with music sometimes and it keeps me being productive, i prefer listening to music rather than background noise around me! but i also agree with all of the points you just mentioned
You should listen to music, HOWEVER! Only listen to instrumental! Lyrical ones distract you. Sitting in silence makes studying a living hell. Personal opinion!
Some things I’ve learned that might help: 1. Use a planner 2. Do your homework right when you get home that way it’s done and your still kinda in the mood cause you just left school 3. If you have big projects break them up into smaller pieces and goals 4. If you tend to procrastinate then brake up your studying like do 30 minutes of homework then take a 10 minute break and get a snack or something 5. Get out of your usual environment at home when you are doing homework I like coffee shops this way you are away from your stuff in your room like for example and x box 6. CHILL OUT
Yes, my school gives us homework books which is so useful because we can write all our homework in there and it also has things like a periodic table and a map of the school at the back. It also has a few pages with blank timetables on so we can write in our timetable and blank pages with columns where we can write when our exams are when our exam dates are released later in the year as well as some empty lined pages for notes. It is a very useful book to be given and it fits in our blazer pockets (I'm Scottish so my school has a uniform).
Yep what I do is I don’t do it all in one day but after school I do a bit of it since I’m gonna be kinda in the mood and my attention span is ridiculous
First day of School: Me: I am going to be super organized this year Middle of the school year: I find a paper in my math folder I read the title(of the paper): “What strategies were used by the U.S. during WW1.
Ellen: you don’t get homework so try study at lest 30 minutes everyday Me : my mum made me study everyday in holidays makes a reminder of my 11plus Ellen : just so you can be prepared Me : a test are you serious miss did you expect us to prepare for a test in the holidays no we didn’t we don’t even know what it is one Teacher : you can revise for 30 mins Me : on what
Me at the middle of summer: *I’ll be the best student this year and I’ll make my parents proud!* Me at the 3rd day of school: *pfft past words are jokes*
Frugal tip - don’t highlight while reading textbook at all - instead use the textbook to make your own notes (as summary / mindmap / flash cards whatever works for you) then highlight THAT. Sell your unmarked textbook second hand to the next years students when you’re done with the course 🌸 There are extremely few people who go back and look at old reference books. You will likely just Google anything you can’t remember later
"you should study everyday" uhm wha- bestie r u okay? i have this system where i have 5 weeks of school and then every 6th week is an exam week with 5-10 exams... and i've never started earlier than the night before and i know i should start earlier BUT EVERY SINGLE DAY? wow you've got your life together!
Her- Be sure to go to sleep early! Me- Watching this at 1:30am Also me- Rethinking my choices Edit: Thanks for the likes😭💕 This is the most I’ve ever had😂

If you wanna know ,I go to a very difficult school lmao😂 and my schedule and rules we have to follow 😒: First day of school we need to get all 15 books?? (idk I dont remember nan molla??) from our teachers. 2. We need to get notebooks (small ones) for every subject and they all have to be 2 notebooks for one subject, so basically having a light backpack is never really a thing in my school 😅 and this is how much stuff I bring with me: 6-8 books with 7-9 notebooks ,pencil case ,calculator, keys for lockers etc. *A day* 3. We wear uniforms and if you dont wear them you get warnings and if you get alot of warnings you will have to talk to the principle aka get suspended or expelled 4. Not allowed to let our hair down unless its *really* short ,no makeup ,no colorful nail polish. 5. We literally have homework every effing day and if you dont give the homework the next day you will get bad grades which will effect our grades ALOT. They sometimes even take a test 2 weeks after the summer break. I also stay after school for a while to do my homework or go to choir so I basically go home at 4-5pm. I'm asian and if the other asians are here...😔 you know our parents hate it when we get bad grades which are like C's and D's I believe? If you read the whole thing ....wow you have really good patience 👏👏
0:35 In my country we have lists for what you need each school year for every grade on our school's page which in my opinion every school should do because it saves everyone SO MUCH money :) btw thank you so much Ellen for these videos
“Don’t listen to music that can distract you... I recommend listening to music with no lyrics.” Me- Listens to my favorite songs when doing something productive. Also has to restart the song because I didn’t fully enjoy it because I forget it was there.
Here is a tip for highlighting: 1. Color code: Use one color for highlighting sentences and another for terms. 2. Instead of drawing hi-liter through the whole sentence or paragraph, but a dot or a point where it starts and where it ends. I HOPE THESE TIPS HELP CAUSE IT HELPS ME
This year (y6) I will have a productive day at school and at home. Why? I’m that kind of person that just wants to get everything done before taking a rest. About the to do lists- I normally have a big to do lists and I pretty much get all of it done
“Listen to songs that don’t have any lyrics” Kpop Stan’s: “What about a different language that I don’t understand?” (also stop saying bts, i’m talking about kpop groups, not just bts)
I don't know if I am the only one but my school year isn't done yet ( tomorrow and the two days after I am having my final test ) and still I am watching this . I feel very excited to finish this year and start a new year! I hope I will do well in my exam 😔
She; gets back pain holding 20 highlighters Me: has to carry all books to school on first day bcs i dont know which classes we will have also me; school have no lockers so carrying Nine period books and copies AND no electronics allowed
@@rebekahl840 i have 9 subjects but sometimes i have 6 classes sometimes 5. Total of 8 periods in a day divided into 9 subjects per week. On subject t has 4 periods per week some have 2. if that makes sense
only 9 thick books come and study in india u will get to know cause we carry around 10 books for notes and 10 books of textbook for each subject every single day
The reason I buy school supplies early is because where I live we have a population of 80,000ish people and a really tiny Walmart. So I go and buy my stuff early instead of waiting the week before or even after it starts because everything would be picked over, and/or damaged/broken. And if there’s anything that I really need after school starts I can order it from Amazon or Walmart and have it in 2-3 days.
A 😏TEACHER to a 😕STUDENT: Your marks are very less then expected .. STUDENT'S Quick reply : If A single TEACHER can't teach all the subjects , Then How can A Single student learn the entire subjects .... Reality : Our brain is not a computer to capture everything 😂😂😂 LoL😂
She: " topic on over weighting" 'me gives a savage reply' You just come to India Here each middle school student's back pack weights 5 kgs to 7 kgs. 8 to 10 subjects per day No lockers😥😥
You showed great composure, experience, and thinking while dealing with the issues i had about an account . Your level of quality work remains unprecedented, Thank you for all your help. Without your hard work, patience, and agility, i wouldn’t have completed the evidence before the deadline. You rock Brandon!, Thanks CTHATTXT
I made most of the mistakes mentioned here and I instantly regretted it afterwards, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have a great school year next year by your advices
Haha right like my first 5th grade teacher had a poster in her class that said that mistakes are just a way od learning but anytime you made a mistake she would go off on you and embarrass you in front of the whole class
3. We don't have space to pack unnecessary things because we have 3 books for each subject and we have to carry all of them(we don't even have lockers) 🙄
4. Design an area in ur room to put all ur school related items and arrange it neatly if u don't have a locker it kinda works like a locker and it is neater
This is a great work *CTHATTXT* , as an ex military guy it brought back fond memories of my working days with my team mates. I have to say I'm really impressed with how you embraced the true spirit of the helping people uncover truth and cheating spirit. Well done from the UK
1. For back to school shopping, because of the fear go over-buying, I always like to buy the stuff I KNOW I’ll need, such as notebooks; rough copies; pens (or refills, depends); pencils, erasers and sharpeners (if I don’t have any or enough left from the previous year); correction fluid; and that’s it. I might buy staplers and post-its if I don’t have enough, otherwise it’s all after the teachers recommend the stuff. 2. I am so guilty of making long To-do lists. But I also don’t like not ticking off the stuff from time to time. So, I’ve made this system that has all the stuff I need onto do written on it in no particular order. Then, I pick the stuff I need to complete ASAP and others that are not time sensitive. Then, if the stuff I need to do takes a lot of time, I break it into several small parts, which enables me to get the satisfaction of ticking off the things I need to do and also helps me to actually finish the task I need to complete. (For example, if I need to write an essay, I’ll break it into say, three parts: introduction and thesis statement, body, and conclusion. So, I’ll have my Essay as main to-do topic and then those three sub-topics under it that I can tick off.) 3. Don’t even got me started on overpacking. I am one of the royalties in terms of overpacking. It got so bad that my friends would even try to carry my bag and judge how heavy it was. Sadly, unlike you, I can’t reduce my stuff cause all of my stuff are my notebooks and two books that I regularly need to carry. We don’t even have lockers, so there’s no option of leaving stuff in school and taking them home only when I need them. I am still surprised that my friends bags were so light. 4. Overhighlighting. Another thing that I don’t need to get started on. I find literally every other line important. My solution to that has been highlighting terminologies and if I desperately feel like I NEED to highlight something, I underline them with the same colored fine-liners. It’s not the best thing, but it works and doesn’t make my books/ notebooks look like a rainbow barfed in them. 5. I used to listen to distracting music (all my favorite songs) not while reading-studying, but while practicing mathematics or solving mathematical problems of physics and chemistry. I tried white noise, but didn’t like them on while studying. So, nowadays I listen to lofi music. I’m not exaggerating when I say lofi music has changed my study habits. I put on the same 2/3 music as background noise whenever I sit down to study (no matter the time) and it seems like my brain has associated those with study cause I enter my study mood much faster whenever I put them on. It’s amazing. 6. Not sleeping has become a bonding thing in our generation, I swear. Good thing is I almost always get 5/6 hours of sleep and almost never have to pull an all-nighter. Bad thing is I write EXTREMELY slow. Meaning, I have to stay up late doing my homework and have only a few hours in the morning to study. P.S My favorite subject is physics cause it has two of my favorite topics, nuclear physics and astronomy,
@@kulwantkour5102 Glad this extremely long paragraph didn't deter you from reading it and that it was helpful. And yeah, it is extremely long. I don't know what my past self was thinking writing all this with no paragraph breaks.
When you “study ahead”, you dont actually study numerous chapters.. I recommend just to have an overview of the next lesson that you guys will be tackling in class just so you could understand the discussion😊
I was about to do that right now and I searched how to do that and this video popped up. I'm glad I didn't do that already because the school year hasn't even started yet. Thank you for your advice!
Our school literally gives us the book. Color coded with each subject, the school logo and stuff. All we really need to bring at the beginning of the year are pens and pencils
Her:wake up early Me: O yeahhhhh * alarm starts * Me: ugh some 3 more minutes I promise ITS THE FIRST DAY!! 10 minutes later * alarm aGain * Ok OK I'm going 😴😒😐
QUICK TIP! I learned this tip in 5th grade. When your highlighting paragraphs get at least 4 different colored highlighters for 1) Important Words 2) Main Idea 3) Goes along with Main Idea 4) Extra Information Then you can put notes if needed if you do this for every paragraph questions will be much easier to answer
For us, we’ll have a list for school supplies we need, and then things our teachers would want. So instead, I’d try to find some my style versions of the school supply list, such as getting a pastel green notebook instead of a green notebook on the list. Just don’t completely off with the school supplies, otherwise it can get confusing.
Teacher:students you should pay attention to class Me:highlights the whole chapter and ends 5 minutes before the next period “A few months later” Report card:d- Me:NOT MY FAULT! THESE CHAPTERS ARE TOO LONG TO HIGHLIGHT!! WE NEED NEW BOOKS!!!
Why 👏 am 👏 I 👏 watching 👏 this 👏 during 👏 quarantine 😭😭 Fact: I was almost forced to use a rolling backpack during middle school cuz of my back by my doctor -3-
Am I the only one who hates rolling backpacks kind of? They get in the way and once you roll over someone's foot it's all over and the famous "is that a suitcase?" question 🤣
Lol I remember i had a rolling bag in grade 6 (now i am in 8) and when i came to school i got to know my class was upstairs its SOO hard to bring a heavy rolling bag up the 2nd floor. I came back home and broke the trolley and wore the straps like a normal bag hahahha😂😂
I love my backpack to be heavy! It gives me a good workout, 😅 especially since I'm not gonna do much movement but sit in class for hours ... I've been actually deciding to study since it's quarantine.. and I'm taking advantage of all my time wasting it on sitting and staring at my phone/tv for the whole day.. and usually when I study I drink hot tea/listen to low music for straight 1 hour, I take small breaks Evey 10 minutes and I also chew gum to help me concentrate.. it's really nice to put my mind onto something else instead of sitting on the couch being attached to electronics this is really calming but stressful? I don't know it could be both at times but this is really useful!
Hi Ellen, I love your videos! You’re an inspiration! You inspired me to start studying and being productive again as I started procrastinating when online school started!! Now I’m not behind on any work or assignments and I get really good reviews from my professors saying that I have improved my grades and everything!!!Thanks a lot for the studying tips you make!!!
For reference or a screenshot 1. Buying the wrong school supplies 2. Making too long to do lists 3. Overpacking your backpack 4. Over highlighting (only highlight terms) 5. Never listen to distracting music (white noise is great) 6. Not studying everyday (study at least 30 minutes a day) 7. Getting enough sleep
Mathematics and History is definitely my favourites because they are my most easiest subjects even if its expected from the professors to be hard. This video has made me a lot more knowledge of what I shouldn’t do when we start school and I can’t help but to say the music problem is definitely me I always end up writing the lyrics 😂 but you have gave me inspiration to try to keep songs with lyrics away when I am studying and also create a calm music playlist In conclusion I think my favourite subject (1) is mathematics (maths).
I’m going into freshman year in the fall! My favorite core subject is science and my favorite elective is family and consumer science (some people call it home ec)
Get enough sleep. I get home at like 9 some days from activities like piano lessons, then I need to eat dinner, do some homework then the next day I have to wake up at 4:50 for early morning swimming training, and then I cry 😭
I did bio, chem and dance for my a levels. Bio and chem was like 2 folder and 2 really heavy textbooks, and the dance was my pe kit. I used to find it hilarious when I'd ask someone to hold my bag and theyd nearly drop it (I had a locker at school but I mainly put my lever arch folders in there along with my afterschool study stuff like blankets, chargers, food and coffee, ya know, the essentials)
They give me the list like 2 weeks before school starts they also give some supplies at open house(meeting you teacher and checking out the school signing up for clubs)
what I like to do is set a time when I start unwinding for bed. for me it's usually around 9:30 PM. After that I don't work, I don't do chores, I don't eat, and I only use my phone to put it in silent or set an alarm for next morning. At first it doesn't help much, but once you make it a routine then your brain starts producing more melatonin around that time and when you basically slow down. Also if you have lockers in school, keep ALL of your textbooks there. If you need to study using a textbook, either take only that one textbook home or take pictures of the pages necessery.
Hi, I loved your video and it has prevented me from doing all those bad habits. Please do not stop making such videos. You are actually helping people like me. Thank you!
Ellen: not studying everyday is not gonna end well. Me : but. I don’t study anyday She didnt tell that u should not not study , so it should be fine. Love from India 🇮🇳
I use to over highlight all the time, I fixed it by using annotations instead, I’d highlight vocabulary, names, dates etc, circle important paragraphs or sentences. And next to each important paragraph write a one or two sentence summary. That way when I’m skimming over I read the summary’s first, look at the terms. And then read any paragraphs or sentences that were VERY important!
