First ad was not offensive at all. It was aired long back when we didn't live in a highly sensitive society and it talks about mending and not breaking. Gives a message while being funny. Pidilite has a whole set of creatively funny ads during those days. Good old days

The address the person gives on call is actually the address or lyrics from an extremely popular song "My name is Anthony Gonsalves" from the classic movie Amar Akbar Anthony. And Amitabh Bachchan (Anthony Gonsalves) is the one performing. So over the years this has become a popular reference of giving fake address to someone. And also the penal code 420 of conning, cheating. As Amitabh's character in the movie is a small-time thug and a local liquor seller, constantly misleading the police about a certain incident.

When the fevicol ad came out originally we loved it. Only in the last 3-4 years have people gone bonkers getting offended over everything. And this phenomenon is across the world so I don't want any so called intellectuals to come and bark about andh bhakts etc. If we go back 10-15 years, there was an ad of 8pm whisky where two generals (one from India and one from oak) are on the border and drink the whisky. Funny as hell. We should go back to being able to crack jokes and not be offended over everything.

Lol 420 refrence is totally different for us 😂 Its a slang for someone who is Fraud. "Section 420 in the Indian Penal Code deals with Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property" Just fyi for those you are interested: The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill, 2023, which will repeal and replace the more than 160-year-old Indian Penal Code (IPC), will contain new numbers for some of the most commonly used sections. So now 420 will be 302 in BNS now.
