I was born in Seattle in 1973, a Sonics and Blazers fan. What angers me about the man who killed Malik Sealy, is that after he was released from jail, he was AGAIN arrested for drunk driving. Goodness sake, you kill a pro athlete in his prime, a father and husband, and you STILL didn't learn?

The most painful of all, perhaps was the death of Len Bias out of the University of Maryland. Although he wasn't ab NBA player yet, he was drafted high 2nd pick in 1986 NBA draft by Boston Celtics. He died of cocaine overdose after being drafted at a party with his friends. Now we are wondering what could have been. He and Michael Jordan would have had a formidable rivalry in the 1980s and 1990s. What a talent Len Bias was! He was a show stopper!

I remember how devastating for the Hornets losing Bobby Phills and for the Timberwolves losing Malik Sealy was. Garnett was super young and just starting to realise his potential. To this day I'm angry with Portland to not appreciate Dražen. When Luka came to NBA some coaches said it's not fair that he's considered a rookie at the age of 19, because he had some European professional experience while college students had none. When Dražen came to the NBA he was one of the top players in the world and a European legend already,...of course NBA didn't value European players back then and he was put on the bench,...Ridiculous. And of course - he was considered a ROOKIE. :) (technically he was an NBA rookie, but still)

Nope. He was older when he passed and while a great shooter, he was never a great defensive player.

@@matthewmolkentin6230 29 is fairly old for a player. He had only been a star player for two years. No all defensive team selections and only 1.3 steals per game as a starter with NJ. I saw the guy play. He was never a very good defender.

Reggie Lewis and Lenny Bias, both Celtics who died young. Bias could have made Boston even more incredible than they already were, potentially changing history.

Well I don't know most of them but I can slightly remember Drazen Petrovic. 2K gave him a Diamond card this year and looks worth it, but I didn't know that he is already in heaven.

Just for the record, you mentioned the 1988-89 season where Reggie became a starter in his 2nd NBA season. He became an NBA All Star for the first & only time in 1992, the year Magic Johnson won the MVP award. He passed away in the summer after the 1992-93 season.
