A very common thing i noted concerning some North Asian and North American medicine persons, is that both the teachings, taking on of apprentices, and the community position of being an Evenk shaman, a Buryat olmen, or , using our translation again, Medicine person of North and Mesoamerican tribes, is that they are familial traditions. The practitioners run in families. An lrigin storry or two also point to the first selected person, talked with the animals, translating their language, which may mean something else entirely, as some of us are more attentive to meaningful behaviors of other species. That attentional skill is not more highly correlated with schizotypy. Much more can be said, as, for example, remembering the mnemonic symbols, petroglyph instructions that preceded highly symbolic writing, and which show remarkable consistency of mnemonic meaning, accurately, is a skill. The usage of plants, the often complex and numerous rituals, these tend to require that ease of learning, analogization, that MOST of a tribe would havve to forgo, just as most of any culture depend upon specialized professionals, be they artisans, musicians, rememberers. One of my psych instructors, who had a schizophrenic brother, pointed out how there was an hereditary component, telling us that creativity and schizophrenia were also significsntly more familially correlated. In a professional dance career, it is easily noticeable that prolific choreographers were NOT social, in the sense that schizotypals are socially uninterested, in comparison with dancers. Without delving further, several personality types regarded as abnormal, DSM, and other diagnostic evaluation, are increasingly regarded as stemming from relatively similar phenotypes. (on the latter issue, i find it more enlightening to become conversant with WHO as well as APA, differential diagnostics. Neuropsychology is essential, as are Dr. Sapolsky's and others' research into hormones as cognitive and behavioral differences. I only differ in not favoring such therapies, as much emotiocognitive stress arises from the cultures in which all humans are embedded!)

Greetings from the Philippines, Dr. Robert and family! Absolutely loving the father and son offspring series! Thank you very much for all the wisdom and knowledge you've shared with us throughout the years. I had a question with regards to your thoughts on how our current everyday technologies (AI, Internet, Social Media) affects our neurological and biological makeup. Do you think the future generations will lose, evolve or inherit certain traits because of these tech?

Mirror Neurons are "merely" that intricate part of the human that echos inside-outside holographic positioning presence.. Let's go through the Looking Glass Universe analysis and just hang consciousness in No-thing Relativity, using Math-Physics and all the material Professor Sapolsky's works have contributed. This will be what, how and why inside-outside holographic positioning presence is teaching-learning continuity of us, the human family.

I confess the difficulty of remaining in Agnostic neutrality in the face of emphatic religious astrology, epicycles, numerological abstractions and big bang type guessing games that all kept immediate observable phenomena away from serious scrutiny by unscientific mis labelling and systematic denigrating of unconformist reiterative analysis, from actual elemental first principles, if you know what they are, by Observation.

Oh my goodness! You hit on a few subtle things. Nice to meet "Bro" - I can just see you all at card games. Of course, the way the cards fall depends on your eye color - just kidding 🙂 Smh - tomorrow I have to go to the dentist. One of my molars blew out. Actually, I probably popped a crown, but I digress. Phencyclidine. Eeesh! Does the memory come back? Sounds scary. Kind of reminds me of getting bitten by a rattlesnake. Don't go there. At least your baboons recover well from an anesthetic that only lasts so long. Around here every once in awhile someone has to dart a mountain lion that wonders into an area it doesn't belong or such. Always entertaining to hear of one wondering the streets of SF or somewhere - Btw, just found an article today with the usual annual Spring warning to watch out for rattlesnakes if you go out hiking. Tis the season. Thank you for sharing. Nice to have a little fun.

@Lyrielonwind
@Lyrielonwind 27 дней назад
He's empathic and he knew what not to do to children. I'm guessing, of course but that's how I see it. I had a catastrophic lives being the scapegoat of my family from birth but I'm thankful I didn't have children. Since I found out about my narcissistic cult-like family I have been questioning about free will since manipulation, indoctrination and brainwashing is so extended in any system but still a taboo to talk about especially if is the mother who has the disorder.

10:49 Part of the answer could be we have out-evolved Mother Nature. IOW, through our intelligence, innovation, technology, etc., we can complete with MN's selective pressure in the sense that people with traits that would not have reproduced in the past -- that is, sexual selection would not have favored them -- can now reproduce thereby propagating this trait. Additionally, you can survive and reproduce mostly singularly whereas in the past you needed to be integrated in your tribe of 150. If your traits were such that you could not integrate with your tribe then either you were kicked out and died or otherwise couldn't reproduce. It could also be that modernity amplifies these traits/conditions -- sedentism, isolation, short-term gratification, coundless attention-grabbing things, general dread having to deal with innumerable strangers, shitty diet, institutions (wars, constant bombardment of bad news, grand-scale deception/propaganda, etc.) -- and evolution cannot keep pace with technology (
