As soon as I heard the line “When comparing to Nike or Adidas” I knew this video was BS. Why you would ever think to compare those shoes with a clog as if you were going to be doing anything athletic in Birkenstocks is beyond me.
By Birkenstock's sizing chart a 39 is actually a US size 8-8.5. I wear a US size 6, and Birkenstock/EU size 36. I've personally found them to be consistent across European sizing, all my EU shoes are 36, all US shoes are 6. But I know the conversion can be confusing if you don't normally buy EU shoes.
Granted I own 10+ pairs of Birkenstock sandals, but even with my first pair, I didn’t really have any problems breaking them in. I’ve had my oldest pair for almost 8 years and they still look brand new. We’ll worth the money imo, especially since fashion shoes are not much cheaper than actual birks nowadays
The suede does not wear quickly. The darkening is called patina. I’ve had mine 10 years and no repairs needed. The sole does not wear either. I think this might be a problem with how you walk
Love the Boston clog. My first pair. So comfortable. Bought Arizona recently as well. Love them both. No break in time. Perfect fit. Either with socks or without. No difference. Don’t know anyone who thinks they are uncomfortable or not worth it. They last forever.
I think the ways in which they are used greatly impacts it's life. You mentioned playing ball in these shoes, with activities like these, any shoe wears out quickly. Birkenstocks were not made to be basketball, nor any sport related shoe.
i think they meant that they arrive at the courts wearing them and change into basketball shoes afterwards, its hard to imagine someone wearing clogs to play ball lol
I’ve worn mine almost everyday and it’s still like new. It’s important to invest in taking care of your shoes. I bought suede cleaner and I constantly brush them. Also a water proof spray with help. Just buy products and take care of them lmao
The oiled leather lasts forever. Suede is softer and easy to break in, if it's the uppers that are giving you a hard time, but the oiled leather will eventually soften up and mold to your foot. The fake leather doesn't break in at all. I always go with oiled leather.
To each their own. I have the Arizonas. Birkenstocks have been popular since I was in middle school and I have never been one to conform to the trends, but I finally got a pair a couple of years ago to see what it’s all about. At first it’s like walking on wood, because your feet have to naturally break them in. So, I started by just wearing them around the house until they began molding to my feet. Once that happened, I wore them out a lot and absolutely love them. It’s like they were made for me, which I think is the goal. It’s the best thing next to being barefoot.
I have a very high arch so they are the only shoes that I can stand in all day. I have found that they are only comfortable for people with high arches. My daughter can’t wear them because she doesn’t have the high arches.
Soft bed is comfortable immediately and doesn’t need to be broken in. The classic foot bed takes a while to break in but seems more comfortable than soft footbed after it’s broken in.
That’s why they have cleaners out there. You are responsible for cleaning them. Failure to clean your footwear shows your personality. It’s gross not to with any footwear.
I read that the softbed option is just a way to reach a bigger market. Maybe die hard birkenstock fans want to spend a month going thru hell to break their shoes in, but the average person, who just wants a pair because they are in style, will not.
To be fair Nike had/ has inconsistent sizing with different styles of shoes. In a Huarache I’m an 11.5 to a 12. In an AF1 I’m a 10, Dunks 10.5, retro Jordan 1’s 10, retro 4’s 11 and so on and so forth lol 😂 I ordered my Bostons in a size 10-10.5 which is typically my TTS so I’m hoping they fit!
How is the 10-10.5 size working for you now? Did you have any issues with your big toe initially touching the inside top of the clogs? Before making an online order, I recently went into my local shoe store to try on the Boston clogs. I am size 9D on the Brannock sizing device and wear 9 in Teva and Reef flip flops. Now bear in mind that those brands outsource production overseas and as a result the sizing is not TTS to American sizing. I wear 8.5D in Sperry Topsider boat shoes. Size 42 EU (9-9.5 Men’s) in the Birkenstock was way too big, and 41 EU (8-8.5 Men’s) fit much better. Will probably need to order the medium/narrow width. What do you think? Thanks for your input!
Also I‘m curious since you went with the suede pair as well do they come with different beds? I didn’t have mine on very long just walked with them to my car to get to the gym. But in the short period of time I wore them I found them to be the most comfortable shoes that I own. And the opinion of others shouldn’t be a matter reason not to buy them.

but i agree on the soft footbed note, i genuinely cannot find regular footbed for some of my favorite models of their shoes. they're really tryna phase out regular footbed or smth..
Ur so right on I just email Birkenstock with this complaint the clogs do not last more than a few months as the inside glueing is horrible and fall apart when it get wet we all get caught in a rain once in a while.
@@stockpilenyc5394 Well a lot of people don't wash their feet but think 'they will get clean in the shower' so that explains the comments maybe. They are originally designed to be an indoor house shoe. You should never wear them in the rain.
There is no breaking in birkenstocks, ive been wearing them for years. If you have a high arch you will love them, if you dont have high arches you will hate them, simple as that.
Making content for contents sake. Contradictory click bait nonsense. I have the regular soft bed Boston suede in gray. Hands down one of the most comfortable shoes I own and look great with denim or shorts. Clearly you don't know how to style them.
thank u for the review! i wanted to get the original boston seudes with the soft footbed, but after this i'm reconsidering and might opt for vegan or the oiled slick leather just for the original cork footbed. personally think they're so beautiful and my friends are already clowning me for wanting them but idc...!

Hater! I have worn mine to weddings, I sleep in them, bathe with them on, have has sex with them on, go to the gym in them, work in them, ran a marathon with them on, etc.
So they get dirty, wear and tear, material stretch and other silly issues like caring what other people think of them.. just clean them often and get leather or something different. This could mostly apply to literally any suede shoe. Not a single actual reason here at all. Clown
@@stockpilenyc5394 but the default footbed birkenstocks are known for being hard and not having padding and only being comfortable after you wear them in, also i dont think theyre overpriced for shoes that ive heard last people a dacade? I don't get it edit: also they are literally orthopedic shoes that are recommended by podiatrists, so i definitely dont think they will damage your feet more than normal sneakers which I assume the commenter wears all the fucking time???
