I'm 30 and contemplating my first hamster! ^_^ I like how their homes can be decorated and made to look fun. Sort of like tropical fish aquariums only much easier to look after. The different themes and additions seem fun to me. I only want the one, but I love that I can offer a really good life to one simply by following examples of your channel and of Erins channel.

I got my Syrian, Berry for my 22nd birthday. Best present ever! I loved getting her a huge 650sq inch bin cage and filling it with bedding, hides and toys. Watching her wash in the sand was my favourite! She was very good company, loved to cuddle. She passed on Monday last week though, I only had her for 5 months ☹️ You don’t realise how much you’ll love them! I went two nights without her when she’d passed and not hearing her wheel at night was so sad, I was very lonely and lost without someone to love and look after! I got my new friend, a tiny 7 week old syrian called Aldo on the Wednesday. He’s the total opposite of her, not shy, he actually plays with his toys and he squeaks a lot which is sweet. I’m so heartbroken Berry passed but so grateful I’ve made another little friend! I think you should 100% get one, you’ll have so much fun! And where they wake at night, you have something to look forward to even after you’ve finished work lol. And as an adult and watching Victoria’s vids, you’ll give your little pal the BEST care! I’m so glad I didn’t ever have a hamster until 22 as I’d feel so guilty about my childhood hamsters 😂 get one! You’ll be so happy you did x

@@bree7830 that sounds great and a little sad but with another friend to fall in love with. To be fair I've always liked the idea of getting a small pet and giving them all the space I can. We don't have rescues where I live so it will have to be from a pet shop (no big chains either though) but I love the idea of getting a little guy or gal and giving him/her the best life I possibly can.

@@bree7830 for now we're still working on the house, but once we're settled I think we will get one. I like the idea of a fish tank and aqua scaping but I don't want the hassle of water changes etc, so making a naturalistic cage with many elements is so up my alley. I don't understand why keeping rodents is deemed for children, when keeping fish and reptiles is considered a hobby suitable for adults. Rodents do have many needs and special care requirements that children just wouldn't be able to manage on their own, and like you said with them being most active once work and dinner/supper done. Do you by any chance have an Instagram with your hammy?

My bf and I went out of town for the weekend and I swear our hammie missed us! He usually wakes up around 2am but we got home at 10 and he immediately came out to greet us 🥰 he wanted to snuggle up! Thank you for all your information... after watchinb your videos for a few weeks I picked my hamster today... he fell asleep in a clay pot full of bedding. He woke up around 6:30 p.m his busy exploring his bin cage foraging for food... spinning on his wheel... he seems quite content already..not scare of me at all...thank you for helping me be a good hamster momma.

Stinky Breakfast it would be annoying for a light sleeper, but for a deep sleeper like me I barely notice my hamster putting 100s of millet seeds into the wheel

@Bonham Romain this isnt suitable... They need to be able to run on their wheel at all times.. If you don't like what it does give it away.. You can't stop it from going on its wheel.. How would you like it if someone put a big rock in your room?

As long as you and your hamster want. If you notice that he/she is getting uncomfortable put him/her in its cage again. If you don't have time anymore, put him/her back too. As long as you AND your hamster are happy, you can keep him/her out😊

Your videos are so helpful! My Syrian hamster was in a preview 528 cage, but I recently decided to upgrade him to a 75 gallon aquarium and I am so much happier with it. Your content really inspired me to upgrade him even if his cage was above the minimum :) I’ve found the minimum is actually a bit small and hamsters will always appreciate more space 😅
