- Your life will change - your weekly/monthly schedule will change, your finances will change, having natural hair is different to not having much/any hair, your morning routine will be different, showering will be different, you need to be ready for your routines to change - You need to commit - it will be on your head for 10-14 days at a time and you'll have one system for 2-3 months. - You need to be ready to learn - you need to be interested in the process, how to maintain your system, how to clean and reapply it, the best styles, the best practices for longevity. You need to watch videos and speak to people for help (e.g. salon, online etc). This channel is a great start. - It will test you and push you emotionally and psychologically - there are a lot of ups and downs and mixed emotions as you learn more about the process, what's involved, and begin your own journey. There will be a big dip in morale and motivation in the first few weeks/months of your first system and you need to be able to push through that and have realistic expectations. - You need to shave the top of your scalp - this is a scary experience for the first time. - Research your other options - hair transplant, medication/treatments, SMP, shaving your head etc. - Taking the plunge is difficult - you'll be afraid of all the unknowns and what-ifs - but this is the same as any other issue in your life. Can you take decisive action and put yourself through a tough process to get what you want out of life.
You make a lot of sense Jake, however I would disagree with you that if you are just receding then it is not for you, in my opinion it's the best time to go for it because it makes the transition easier, when I started I was just receding and thinning on the crown and was using hair fibres so when I had the hair fitted no-one even noticed and still no-one knows 32 years later
For sure! I think that one is up to ones own opinion. There’s definitely a cost/benefit analysis to do for yourself. Some would say I hadn’t receded/balded enough, but for me, I had crossed the line. Understandably your decision point may at a different point in time
The one thing I wonder is when you sleep with someone can they notice if they touch your hairline or something? I'm planning to do hair system in the future and like yourself I plan to do it so no one notices.
Just wanted to add a bit of info regarding SMP treatment, pros and cons to give further knowledge to anyone struggling with hair loss. I started losing my hair in my early 20s, shaved it quite close cropped. It only got really annoying as I started to get that huge forehead where the shaved line got further and further back. Eventually it irritated me that much I had SMP done in 2017. It was nerve wracking because I was already a high school teacher and kids are ruthless. Well they never commented or sussed it out, even though you are regularly really close view to them, and believe me kids that age early teens are hyper critical. Occasionally I would get a comment like, Sir why don't you grow your hair, or one would call me bald and another would correct them and say, He's not, you can see his hair he's just shaved it off! That always made you feel good. Now cons first: You will always be bald to anyone else, doesn't matter how it looks under bright lights you are just bald, you avoid sun as it fades it, I still wear a cap outside as I don't fancy slapping sun screen on my head 24/7. You need to shave with good electric clippers every day, it will fade after 2-3 years so need to get it topped up around £500 every 3 years or so. Pros: you look really natural, very low maintenance, you can do all extreme sports sweat like hell or whatever no issues, you see that hairline that frames your face without huge forehead (getting up in the morning and seeing that visible line makes a world of difference and never gets old, its first thing I look at in mirror). Its graceful? You are fixing it but it a humble way where you are still unfortunately bald but on your terms, like I choose to shave my head for reasons...rather than nature made you go bald. Any questions please feel free :)
Is SMP a good option for people with diffuse thinning? That's what I have, and I first tried to cope with it by shaving to a zero guard once a week, but I really disliked that. I'm sure I'd dislike shaving every day even more. I recently started using Toppik, which helps a lot. I have a lot more confidence because it makes my hair look thick. I might like SMP if it could make me look like I have the same hairline (around Norwood 2.5) but more density.
I'm 3 weeks into a "crown patch" and while the density is different you wouldn't be able to tell a difference unless you felt it. It only took two washes to adapt to my hair texture, but you do have to be careful and condition.
I’m trying to decide if this is for me, but I have a lot of fear because I’ve been known as being bald for a long time. Been shaving my head for 10 years. But just now finding this place product, which could maybe give me back what I’ve missed for so long.
Hey so did you decide to do it? I'm 39 and have shaved head since 22 so EVERYONE knows me as a shaved head, and I don't look bad with it and I'm fine with being bald. I started shaving in 2005 before RU-vid really exploded with information and hair club for men quoted me a ridiculous amount and I was young so I decided to shave. Now being more settled in life it makes me want to try a hair system!
You are definitely not alone Jake. I admire, respect and appreciate you more than you know. I hear the emotion and passion in your voice when you talk about this and this is something I really like about you. Aside from your content, it the thing that draws me to you because I’m a sensitive and passionate person myself. I relate to so many things you touch on. P.S. I also have to comment on the backwards hat look. You look so good. ☺️
I Jake you inspire us some much, I am to get a Hair System next week, and I will continue watching your videos, I am kinda scared of getting it, but it’s the only way to know if a hair system is right for you, Thank you, God bless you for all you do!!
I decided to try being bald and never felt so bad about my looks in my entire life, i really can't decide whether to go for this or save up for a year to do a hair transplant
I had 2 mega hair transplants. With the best doctor, but I was norwood 7 (advanced hair loss). Not happy with results. Still very thin. I am going to get a hair system now. I think it's a good choice.
Wow you def inspired me. I have a hair system. I recently got it back in June. My life changed with so much happiness in myself and confidence. I always try to learn more things about hair systems because I know this is going to be a lifestyle. I do have a question, how will i know if my hair system is getting old? The hair feels very dry and crispy, tough and tangled.
Yes, it´s a big step to go ahead with a hair system. I am 77 and decided for a system 21 years ago and I´m glad I did. I suggest learning how to maintain your system by yourself, except, of course, getting a haircut from a qualified person.I buy my system from a Chinese company that supplies their hair pieces to the major hair studios. My wife learned how to cut my new piece when I got a new shipment and saved me money. I don´t use glue, just tape and wash my hair daily.
I really like this video , I am thinking about it, I have my system already and all the rest tape, glue, etc , I fell afraid of shaving my head so thank you for sharing your experience , I am very glad I could watch your video
Hey guys, I'm living in a very warm place. I am considering a hair system right now, have some questions/hesitations in my mind, need your help. 1- We have very high humidity here (over %90 in summer time), would this make me uncomfortable (itching etc) and affect the usability a lot? 2- I do gym and swimming a lot, is a hair system right for me? 3- I like to go to beach and have some sun bathing, would that be hard/impossible with a hair system? Wearing a hat on top of a hair system in this hot weather.... how would it be? 4- It probably would terrify me to see the top of my head bald every time during a maintenance. Will I get used to it? Thanks for the help
Hi Jake, thanks alot for your vedio and your channel also its great and huge to start talking about fears and problems of others i appreciate what you do ❤ I need the hair system not for look younger only , i have a medical problem im elliptic and i have some Forehead injuries i want to cover it and protect my self in the future , i need more knowledge and advices to start , tell now i dont know what will suit me im 45 black male looking for chatting and share more with other guys
Total honest review on this matter, you do not try to discourage or shame others, you only share you expirience and the reality downfalls you found to warn people what they will need to face instead of having fake expectations. Keep going with honest content youtube is lacking that nowadays
I'm 26 and have been shaving my head for the past year. I decided I'm gonna try a hair system and see what it's like! I realized I dont like being bald
@@MrSORX77 hey banana, my hair specialist ordered it 2 weeks ago and it arrived. Unfortunately my hair isnt long enough for him to blend it yet so I need to wait about another month. So if you're bald now, I suggest growing the sides a little over an inch long so your specialist can yield the best results. It looks super natural though!
Cool video Jake. One concern I have is other people noticing and asking you about your hair. Do you tell them you have a hair system and then do they ask you to take it off and stuff?
Hey, can I ask why you chose to get a hair system instead of undergoing a hair restoration procedure? I am having a dilema on which to choose. Also is there things you cannot do? like use steam rooms, Saunas, hard work outs? I know you did a video before but it didnt mention sauna/steam room use. Thanks
I'm 28 right now I'm deciding to go for a hair transplant or this confused as hell going to a dermatologist cuz I heard when you getting a hair transplant they try to push even if you might not have the hair for it this video you sent really helps me out a lot thank you
Don't do surgery. Losing your hair is not a big deal. It's not cancer. Women will still like you without hair. Don't believe the lie the hair industry tells you about women not liking you. Get into the best shape of your life and look good as you can.
Shave your head or get a hair system. But most importantly, get into good shape, get clear skin, white/healthy teeth and gums, and a positive mental state of mind.
Love your videos man. You deserve way more subs than you have. I’m thinking about getting a hair system before I go back to school this fall bc Fin and Minox don’t have me at a place where I’m happy with my hair, and this video convinced me that the option may very well be a good one for me. Thanks a lot. Also, do you ever plan on doing a video detailing the specific parts of the maintenance and what exactly indicated that you need to do it? Sorry if you already have and I just missed it, lol
I am on MIN-FIN Topical and Micro needling. I plan on getting a transplant for my temples to lower and fill hairline. Though someone told me about Frontal Hairpiece for the time being and you do not need to shave the whole head, but not sure right now. Plus I feel a Frontal Hairpiece could get annoying. I am looking at this stuff in case I want to do it. For now just learning the pros and cons.
I wore a hat on top of my hair plus piece for fear that it didn't look perfect .the mess is an issue that is hard to deal with if you're rich you can go to the salon and spend $ for upkeep might be better.
I want to know if women can immediately detect it when they put their hands in your hair. I was using a powder concealer and my girlfriend got it on her hands, I explained to her what it was and she made fun of me for being a man who spray paints his head. I told her that hurt me and she apologized (I don't believe her). She said she doesn't believe men should even dye their hair. So I want to know how soon this topic will be unavoidable and if I'll be able to ever do things I used to enjoy like swimming again? Should I continue to take finasteride or is it pointless? Does your head get very warm or sweaty when you're working out or on the beach? I started to lose my hair in late teens so I lost a lot of confidence and have worsening mental health issues now. Also I have questions about travel. I'm pretty good at cutting my own hair, but is this manageable if you're in another country or something like that?
True, a hair system would not matter or not be right for someone who thinks they look good bald. However, it is a fact that most women prefer a guy with a full head of hair versus being bald. A cope is to say that it's irrelevant and one's attitude will dictate success, because we all know a guy who has major confidence will win most often if he has the full head of hair, as opposed to the guy full of confidence who happens to be bald.
Make sure you are getting a hair system for the right reasons. It cannot be because of insecurity over being bald. So, I would say, shave your head first. Accept being bald. Lose the insecurity. Then, get a hair system because you prefer how you look with hair vs being bald.
I think you do a good service, but with all due respect, you might be freaking some people out unnecessarily. I think there is a possibility you have "over-thought" some of this stuff. For instance, I do NOT shave my head. I wear the hairpiece anytime I am going someplace where I am going to need to take my hat off, but I wear a hat when I am just running to a store, then back home. When I am around my family only, I just comb my own hair up over the top of my head. Yeah, I know the dreaded comb over! Lol. But it still looks better IMO to have a little color up their than a shiny completely bald looking dome. So I will go with the comb over. I am retired, but church, friends coming over, going out to dinner in a place not conducive to hats, going to someone's house to visit, and several other occasions, I will don the hairpiece. When I get home around just my family, I take it off and do a quick comb over. Mine of course attaches with clips, and I am married so I am not trying to fool anyone at home! Lol. So this method works great for me.
Hi Jake, love the videos! I was wondering if you ever considered alternative treatments like you suggested and why you didn’t choose them? I.e. drugs, transplant etc? Thanks
Jake thanks so much for the videos. I have a question. I have had a hard time googling/finding a place near me to find a reliable Hair System company/Salon. Any recommendations or resources for finding ones near me? Im not even sure what to search for at this point! Haha.
I'm having some trouble finding the right products to take care of the hair... It gets dry quite quickly and the texture also changes after a few weeks. Which products do you use? I also think water plays a big role... I have really hard water in my town
I recently saw a video where you were talking about sweating and how the ghost bond would not hold. I am currently using ghost bond XL and after my hockey games (I play goalie) the bond breaks down. This is frustrating for me because I am 29 and love being active and hockey is my passion. I know you suggested tape, but I have an exposed hair line. Do you think tape is still a good solution even with an exposed hair line or do you recommend a different bond?
Good question. I used tape with an exposed look. It didn’t bother me that much. I do know this though. You need another solution. If you want to use tape as a last resort, try other bonds. I’ve heard ultra hold with max sport is a good combo. But once again, it’s all about body chemistry, and finding a good match. Tape or bond, we need to do experimenting. Trust the process, don’t give up heart brother!
6:40 Hi Jake. I was watching your video and you mentioned a hair system won’t be good if you hair isn’t receding that much. I’m 19 years old and my hairline is noticeable receding. Would you recommend to people a frontal hair piece? where you just shave the front of your scalp and leave the back. Do you have any videos about a frontal hair piece?
baldness has really held me back in life. I'm almost 26 and I've still never had a girlfriend and am still a virgin because of my baldness. If my head didn't look like a penis i'd have no problem with it but unfortunately I can't pull of the bald look. I've worn a hat in public every day since I was 18.
Hit the gym, hit the bars and have some confidence, be the aplha male dont be shy, down shots like crazy if you have to, you should get a lady no problem on a saturday night, balls and confidence mate balls and confidence, dont be too nice, women sense beta males
Or you can look at it as having the hair you never had or maybe haven't had in a long time. I tried the medication and lost my election for about 11 months and they said it would come back slowly. We ut took 3 years to return to normal. My wife wasn't happy about that and opened a law suit and won. If your thinking about it and you've been thinking about it for a while remember one system and I mean the top systems cost around $300. Thats it. Go with a lower thickness then what you think because you dont want to look like a 16 year old on top and a 45 year old on the sides. Then you'll be back to a baseball cap again.
Your wife took you to court because you couldn't get an erection? Lmao Edit: ok i think i understand now, She took the medicine company to court not you 😂
Hair for me is life.... I think that I prefer to get an hair system and change my job and my friends, my gym and Every place where people have seen me as bald than live an entire life without hairs.
Hi there! in first place congrats for the channel, it's really cool trying to help other people with this problem. Ok, here is the thing, I practice surf 3 or 4 times al week. I'm thinking about using an hair system, but I don't know if It will be a problem with the surf. I don't want to get out of the water and then realising that the hair system has been taken off. What do you think? It's possible for me using an hair system and keep surfing? Thanks dude!
Hey Jose! I haven’t done a ton of research on salt water. I’ll see what I can find. Subscribe and I’ll make a video. I have seen people advertising that you can surf and use a hair system, and swim as well. The only thing POTENTIALLY that might happen is lots of salt exposure could potentially break down the bond, BUT in no way is that science, or even researched. It’s purely speculation. The WORST case situation is your hairline might get a little looser. Your hair System is NOT going to come off though. I imagine The level of adhesion from glue/tape is WAYYYY to high for that to be a problem. But I most certainly will research :)
Makes your head sweet , stink, basically have a little hat on 24 hours a day. Just be who you are, if there were no woman , no man with use it. Just to feel better around the opposite sex. Crazy
Whu are you wearing a hat? Strange when someone who has a hair system/unit has it covered makes me think youndont have the right one for you. A lot of people on You Tube have systems that are way to full and no one will say it. Others have a system on and I just don't believe it till they take it off and then back on and I still can't see it as fake. But yeah the hat was a bad idea
