I was scared to learn BLM at first if I'm upfront. But when I spent the time? Wow. I fell in love. Black Mage is VERY MUCH worth your time!!!!!!! 100%!
I can't decide BLM n Sam so I use them both but after watching your videos Sam is easier and does higher DPS so what's the point in using BLM over Sam ?
Wait this is the FIRE FIRE BOOM BOOM class all I know is that I accidentally started a fire in East shroud and upset the sylphs now they are out to kill me
I fell in love with BLM during ShB. It's the job that stays the most consistent from expansion to expansion. When you really get into a groove, you feel like a god and it's amazing. But you really need a good sense of risk management to play properly because sometimes if you don't wanna lose your leylines or you're about to lose your stacks of fire/ice and you're out of CD's and if you could *just* get off that last cast as to not throw off your rotation, it means taking a hit to the face and apologizing to your healers when that ends up being a bad decision, better to ask forgiveness than permission in this case, y'know?
I think black mage should be the highest DPS in the game--by far--to reward you for being a cripple. I got a little frustrated laboring with BLM for so long only to level a samurai and instantly feel like a top DPS samurai expert, destroying my BLM numbers and being able to move my legs! Black mage is still my dream job though.
Usually people counter with "but SAM needs to stay in melee" and I really don't think that's any issue anymore with the current fight design. If anything ranged DPS and caster still need to do more because they usually need to bait mechanics and run around a lot which goes double bad for BLM (although planning around mechanics like this is also something I really enjoy on BLM).
BLM is my main, but I can give several reasons to NOT play BLM: - Dev is increasingly trying to mess with Yoshi-P's main by making fights more and more movement intensive. - If YOUR Ley Lines is active, the boss will 100% center AoE attacks on your head. - Dodging timing always come when you NEED to refresh the Astral Fire. I swear I didn't make these up.
It's possible to counter the last two with bullet skimming the AoEs. This yields a buff if done perfectly like in a danmaku game. Legends say that only St Yoshi has done this on EX3.
Much like MNK's Thunderclap, gapclosing to safety as a BLM requires at least one (non-dead) teammate prepositioned in the safe spot. Not really a lot of other options where your survival is in your own hands.
Well 8months later u have a new Black Mage watching your vid 💯👍🏾. I have a max height female roegadyn, and I got just about 2weeks of playing tha job and I'm like wow wtf! I'm lvl 53 and I'm still feeling like I'm not playing tha class correctly lol. I'm on PS5 so I use tha controller, and now Ima go head and main black mage, and I just got my ninja to 86 😂.
been my main since the start for over 3 or so years and I still love it! really taught myself about weaving and how to avoid clipping during EW and now with all the instant cast abilities available and movement I can say that its one of the most mobile jobs if you're running content you already know and its no longer a nightmare dropping rotation since transpose/paradox lines are so easy to use and pivot from into standard rotation.
Im a BLM and my only problem is that everytime I join a static, people seem to have horrorstories of BLM which make them dislike and not trust people who play the job.
The thing is BLM takes effort to get good at. Nowadays the horrorstorries of permadead BLM are a thing from the past since all bad BLM are now bad RPR but the stigma still lives on.
I progged this savage tier as a DRK, but looking forward to doing the next tier in a week as a BLM! Never done so much as an extreme before with it. I’ve looked up rotations, but it’s hard to find out the little details like when to use instacasts for movement vs clipping to give yourself triplecast and saving that thunder 3/xenoglossy because buffs are soon vs clipping to use aetherial manipulation to move. Any tips on priorities for how to use those ogcds/instacasts?
I appreciate that you are trying to dispel the myth that BLM is not mobile, they've gained skills that allow them to be mobile when required. Quite mobile, more than RDM even.
@@babako79 Sure, every 2nd spell. Still have to stand for every 2nd spell, and melee combo to burst. BLM can move when it needs to, for longer than 1 spell.
One tip for anyone considering it, do your rotation until you can do it without thinking and that frees you to fit it into the fights and plot your path. I practice my rotation against a video of the fight to see when I should be optimal with things and then hopefully remember it 😸
my main❤ I love this job from the start of ARR, at first maybe it's boring, but when you arrive at lvl 60, the rotation become funnier than the rotation of lvl 50.
Ngl, definitely would have unbound S key if it wasn't for legacy movement. God bless legacy movement, holy crap. Definitely helps me find those 1 pixel safe zones in between all the AoEs while I stay in my Leylines.
Hi, I've been using your websites rotation builder, and after watching this vid I decided to try out BLM. But the rotation builder seems to be broke for BLM, there is no skill icons :(
Thank you so much for checking out the site! Yeah unfortunately a lot of things on it are still bugged and broken >_< hoping to do a relaunch of it in a few weeks here with it all working! My apologies about the issues :(
I think if you like games like chess, shining force and fire emblem, basically any game where position on the board matters, then black mage is an awesome choice imo. I started with summoner and really liked it, just as flashy as this class imo, but it was probably too simple for me after a bit. Nothing more satisfying when you can pull that last second spell and then win that round of chicken once you found the perfect casting spot for a bit.
Love black mage. Started the game with it, leveled through the game with it, and still main it. Red mage is a close second with endwalker updates but nothing beats executing black mage well in a fight.
Depends totally on what kind of build you're going for, but there are two prominent builds. One is minimal spell speed while maximizing other stats like crit/det/dh, the other is absolute max spell speed possible
