Only if it's turbo Busa. Now jokes aside Hayabusa is not snappy at all it has very friendly throttle map and power delivery. It's an overpowered touring bike and very easy to ride without any drama the only issue is the weight of the bike. gsxr1000 is much more snappy and radical compared to the Hayabusa.

I'm a petite 5 foot 3 woman and the Grom is actually a perfect beginner bike for me because it fits my proportions. I rode a Grom for my M2 course here in Toronto, Canada and I found it really easy to manoeuvre. I'm a pretty avid cyclist (commuted to work on my bike this past winter) and I'm so used to cycling that the speed of a motorcycle still kind of startles me lol. I love it but I'm not used to it yet so the Grom is very manageable for me to learn on. Thanks for the video tho great to hear different points of view!
@lostintheclouds8719
@lostintheclouds8719 Год назад
I’m bout to learn on one myself at my mss course. It’s the one I clicked the most with out of everything I’ve sat on for the past couple months. It’s the only one that I feel I can totally manage without it feeling like it’s too big or too much bike for me. If it sucks so much as a beginner bike then why does the motorcycle safety course use it? Lol. Second of all if you’re a beginner rider, why are you jumping on the highway? I know I’m not gonna be going on the highway with a motorcycle let alone my car because there’s so many jerk drivers out there. Maybe for these tall guys that are used to riding busas and bigger bikes, obviously you’re too tall for the grom, so why would you make a video about the grom being so horrible? I mean it’s horrible for you cuz you’re tall, experienced, and you like the things you like. but you have to consider also people who are shorter than you, maybe women riders, and there’s other things to consider. you shouldn’t just throw this bike under the bus because you’re tall and you don’t like it. Sorry but I think your review is biased. I am in agreement with Junbug

So badly want a grom. Parents don’t want me getting a motorcycle because they’re too dangerous. I didn’t win them over with the fact the grom has 9-10 horsepower, tops out at 56 and gets 130 something miles to a gallon. Yet I drive a car that sounds like it’s about to blow up, that I am basically guessing what gear I’m entering when shifting cause the stick is sloppy.... hmm

The key here is I know "how" to ride a motorcycle. I haven't ridden a bike under 185 cc since I was 14 years old and anything under 250 cc does not belong on American roads. Face it in America Groms are under-powered "junk" and poor value as far as motorcycles are concerned. I suppose if you are "shrimp" size or have a third world level income because of some intellectual disability than you might settle for a Grom but then maybe you should stick to bicycles or get a job as a circus clown so you can be paid for people to laugh at you riding your mini-bike for money.

I love the complaining about an A1 market bike not being a good beginner bike, it's a 125cc, it's literally designed for a beginner bike market? In your market, it's meant to be a toy, in most other markets, it's a brilliant bike for both learning on and for commuting on.
@bleh8310
@bleh8310 4 года назад
Keep in mind the US is different than Europe. Many speed limits are higher here and more people use highways. If you're just in city then of course the power is fine. Also it's intentionally small framed and ergonomically isn't right for many people as they said in the video. It's designed to be a toy bike unlike other 125-300cc bikes.

Little Green mate, I directly mentioned that the US market is different. That doesn’t just magically stop it being a beginner bike.

I agreed with "it a joy" but a poor learning tool for a beginner. The yammie's argument was that grom doesn't teach you skills which are necessary for a new rider. You can ride grom for many years but you'll never learn throttle control, Proper braking skills, and body position and actually, it can teach you bad habits with the throttle and braking. Yes, You can perfectly own a grom as your first bike and have tons of fun but if advancing as a rider is your goal it'll be a poor choice.

@@nickcraciun no problem! If I could go back and talk to my former self, I would have recommended starting on something like a used Ninja 650. Try to pay cash outright, because I think when you finance a motorcycle, you're more nervous of dropping it, so you may be hesitant to lean it, practice slow speed maneuvers, etc. If you own it outright and someone has already dropped it for you a few times before you buy it, you're just adding to the character when you drop it, plus it'll be a heck of a better price! Anyway, the Ninja 650 is a parallel twin which means it has predictable power, lower seat height than a 4 cylinder 600 Supersport, and very forgiving of jerky inputs from the rider. Just a VERY bad shoulder and knee sprain and some road rash.. Still enough to be out of it for a bit!) I have to say I’m new to street bikes and haven’t been on any kind of bike in several decades. At 6’1 280 I picked up a grom at the beginning of summer, a 3 owner 19 with 1500k for 2500 bucks. With the exception of turning completely numb after 25 miles I loved every minute of it. Any intimidation factor wore off in under three minutes. After 1000 miles I rode 50 miles to trade it on a new cb500f and got more in trade than I paid for it plus a price of 5k on the new one. I did have an offer of an mt03 for 500 dollars less but thought the cb500f was easily worth 500 more and I’m glad I did. I’m not intimidated at all on it outside of the wind blast at 70mph which any naked bike will do. I see your point and agree to an extent but for me it was a good progression and one I think I’ll be happy with for many years as it’s purposed as a commuter first and leisure a distant second. For 2500 that I recovered over 100% I confirmed I did want a commuter bike and wanted to do so within the same timeframe as a car. Win.

They teach people how to ride on bikes like the groom in the UK. Also no we're in the UK are you under any resion allowed to go faster than 70mph if you do and get stopped your get a fine and point on your license. Also truck's aren't aloud to go faster than 55 so a groom wouldn't get over taken by one. Also you can't ride anything above a 125cc before you get a full bike licence even if you have a car licence you can't ride a bike. I have a R6 but I ride my yzf-r 125cc most of the time as ridding around town's and city's is easy and better. The usa like to kill there novice bike rides by selling them 600cc bike's before they can ride.

@nsengel4672
@nsengel4672 4 года назад
The thing is the Grom(real name MSX 125) wasn't made for the US market. It was made in Asia for Asians. The average male weighs 60kg and is 5'5. It's not for fat Americans over 6ft. Asian towns and city streets are way narrower and you usually don't go over 40mph. It's why most ride scooters and most bikes don't go over 300cc. With a 300 you are faster than 99% of all traffic even on the highways. It's the same reason Asians think Harleys are the most useless bikes ever. Big slow,heavy and a pain to own and ride. Compare the bikes to the enviroment they were meant to be used in. Why doesn't Yam take his Daytone 675 on the Paris to Dakar rally and see how great it is then? The steering feel...the brakes. Be subjective guys.
@michaelclark3192
@michaelclark3192 4 года назад
Yeah I was going to mention that it's sold as a Honda MSX in Asia as a commuter bike for smaller people who's competition is 125cc scooters and old school underbones and standards. I also noticed another bike we don't get here called the Yamaha MSlaz 125 that's a similar type of bike.
@nsengel4672
@nsengel4672 4 года назад
@@michaelclark3192 The Asian markets differs alot Western ones. The Mslaz is a real nice streetfighter tipe bike. I commute everyday from home to work on a bike in Asia. In traffic,during rainy season ect. I ride a 200cc and even that is too big sometimes and a pain in the ass. Parking spots...bike getting scratched in packed traffic. If you ride a beginner bike by western standards (RC390, SV 650 ect) in the rain on greasy tarmac, with a snappy throttle and grabby brakes you will end up somewhere in a ditch or under a truck. I see atleast 50 MSX's everyday and they make perfect sense for their enviroment.

@@Fearless154 IMO these guys treat buying a Grom motorcycle like another toy or a form of entertainment. It's for those unwilling to go all in and commit financially to something that is actually safe and practical. Maybe the Groms are viewed as less intimidating. The Grom and it's it's other competitors are hitting a price point in the $3,500 range after taxes. Realistically, individuals could buy a used 1, 2 or 3 year old superior bike for less or new carry-over year models for only slightly more. That Nick Longo Anyone can obviously spend their money as they choose. Fundamentally, I have an issue with individuals misleading others (young naive buyers) to not look at other potentially better options. They do this by misrepresenting Grom without other fair benchmarks of comparison. Yammie provides a true educated perspective that Grom buyers refute because they feel compelled to justify their decision based on their personal bias (human nature) . If you only ever rode a goat then don’t imply that a horse wouldn’t be a better choice. IMO and probably Yammies, a Grom is mostly a goat.

So I’m 29. 5’11” about 175lb. Grom was my first bike. (Had riding experience prior). Some easy mods like clutch springs will help clutch feel. I had a built drz400sm and traded that for a fz07. Fz07 is an amazing bike and I feel I can grow into it a little more. But the grom still has a place in my garage, and will for a long time because around town is just so fun. Plus a lot of my friends have groms so that helps too. I’d recommend a grom as a first bike, esp someone that’s intimated to get on anything bigger. Can introduce them to how to counter steer. Use a clutch and shift, basic maintenance. I do agree that using one to commute day to day is a little much, but as a toy, it’s great.

The point is that this is a real motorcycle, that is soo forgiving, that it is not a good idea to learn on this bike if you don' want to get bad habits. It has taken me several months to learn to smoothly accelerate and decellerate on a big bike, so now I will be smooth even when riding a small bike like this. The weight also means you can get away with things you would never get away with on a bigger bike. I am sure a good, experienced rider will ride it properly, but a beginner will not make progress as the bike will not punish his or her mistakes.
