1 Being stuck in the past 2 Hyperfocusing on symptoms - always on high alert, anticipating symptoms 3 Overcomplicating recovery - different rabbit holes, treatments, analysis paralysis - stay away from google! 4 Inconsistency - sticking to one path that resonates the most with you, not switching when there are flares/setbacks 5 Riding the emotional rollercoaster - try to control how you feel regardless of the vast different events/emotions that come with life - try to stay as balanced and level as possible regardless of how your symptoms are playing out 6 Being passive in recovery - doing nothing just resting, especially the mental work (brain retraining, mindset shifts). The solution is INSIDE yourself, nowhere else. Creating the results rather than just hoping they come one day.

Excellent video, Miguel. I found your videos only in July 2024. In the month of August I practiced what you said that not to get scared of symptoms. If today is a bad day doesn't mean tomorrow is not going to be fine. Emotional rollercoaster is a big one. My takeaway from this video: Don't stick to the past. Don't hyper focus on symptoms. Avoid emotional rollercoaster. Thanks a million, Miguel

Thank your for pen&paper recommendation for taking notes before this one. I would LOVE to hear from you about how your recovery went, year by year. Like: first year you could do this and this. Second year you could do this, etc. To make sure i’m not going: if i’m trying like 1 year and nothing happends, then I am totally screwed&hopeless”. It is really easy for me to think „all or nothing”, on a regular day to day basis. Your story that it was YEARS could be really humbling and showing me how it can be done.

“Analysis paralysis” is the best description I have found but it is completely terrifying and paralyzing. So so thankful that you are explaining things so clearly! While I have no thyroid and the thyroid levels have not been stable for a long time, I know healing is still possible!

Thank you again for a great video. That is all so true and worth so much to hear it. I thought about applying for your program, but I don't know if I'm right as I rarely have pain (sometimes muscle pain and migrane), but mostly fatigue, nausea, brainfog, feeling ill, inner tension .... Nevertheless - I follow your videos from the start and they are so so helpfull. You really talk about the things I feel and I feel so understood
@cfsrecovery
@cfsrecovery 2 года назад
Hi Doris, interesting! I'm curious, how often do you get those migraines and muscle aches? You still have quite a bit of other symptoms that are borderline painful (inner tension..etc). I'm glad you all this content really resonates with you, it sure sounds like I was in your shoes not too long ago! 😀
@djVania08
@djVania08 2 года назад
I have similar experience as you. I don't think that pain is a main issue for some people with CFS. Which again shows that CFS/ME isn't just one well defined illness. I think it's multiple things being in one pot having very similar symptoms.
@dorishangel3661
@dorishangel3661 2 года назад
@@cfsrecovery Well, the migraines don't really count, as I have them for over 20 years, but the muscle aches are new (started as many symptoms along having CFS). I just get them after 'exercise' (waking, cycling), but not every time (a doctor once said I might have fibromyalga, but I don't think so). I also suffer from digestive issues and therefore abdominal pain. Again, thank you for this video (and all others) as I felt so much understood and it gave important tipps on how to continue.

I love the part about the emotional wave my gosh that is so true happy then back to jail makes me laugh I am trying to be more even keal but I always feel if I make a big deal about feeling good that day then my ans will say oh she likes this let's do it again, but it probably working in reverse and saying that's too much excitement up there may that wasn't good? They say your body doesn't know the difference between a wedding and a funeral because it only knows stimulus or no stimulus. Balance is the key and that is the tricky part. Thank hun!
@cfsrecovery
@cfsrecovery Год назад
You're absolutely right about the importance of balance, and it can be quite the journey to find that sweet spot. 😊 Keep working on it, and remember, progress is a series of ups and downs. Your insights are valuable, and I'm glad the video resonated with you! 🌟 If you ever have more questions or need support, feel free to reach out. 🙌

Love that and all the Tips!! But i have an quick question and Hope it is o.k....Do you also have/ had severe Brain Fog, recing thoughts and "dementia" like symptoms?
@cfsrecovery
@cfsrecovery 2 года назад
I did have all of that. The brain fog, racing thoughts, and dementia-like symptoms were pretty scary to deal with. I really thought I had early onset of dementia and even Parkinsons because my body would be swaying back and forth when i tried to sit still. These are all tell-tale signs of dysautonomia (or an imbalanced nervous system).

the secret to faster recovery is make a strong and valid point that answer must be very powerful to the symptom like when i get eye fatigue i say to my mind I'm not doing that much work to get eye fatigue and i say it's just nervous system processed in the brain as it isn't real eye fatigue

could you please do closed captions? it has been easier for me to intake info when i can read AND hear the message together. It helps to keep my brain focused and on task when i have a touch of brainfog. Also, back in my worst days, i used to watch CPTSD and ME/CFS youtube vids silently and read captions as even birdsong would make me cry from audio-pain. I 100% agree with this list re the past, ive had to see a therapist and process the emotions, alot of which was stored n locked into my physical body, hence why i was watching ALOT of irene lyons' vids on childhood/complex PTSD (accumulation of micro-traumas) divorce is a common childhood micro trauma, feeling tense, scared, powerlessness, poverty etc learning about studies into Adverse Childhood Effects (ACEs) was game changing to helping me understand the hows n whys of how my nervous system got super-sensitive and how i could mitigate n make myself resilient n start to heal. Sometimes dwelling on the past means we havent learnt the lessons we need to from it, we might have cognitive distortions and unhelpful beliefs to resolve before we can let go. Inconsistency is my biggest issue, i 'resent' i guess XD

Hey Kim, you should be able to enable closed captions on RU-vid!
@georgie6443
@georgie6443 2 года назад
This has been a super helpful vid, thank you. I do have a question to point number one: how do you get unstuck from reliving the past? And from your experience, how long did this take you?
@cfsrecovery
@cfsrecovery 2 года назад
Great question. The short answer: it depends. How stuck are you? How intense are those feelings of living in the past? How much does it affect you day to day? These are all factors that determine how to get past this issue. The one thing I can say that really helps is not engaging AT ALL with all these thoughts that come up about the past. The more you engage with and entertain these thoughts, the more real those memories feel and you'll be reliving them over and over again. So let those thoughts pass. I think I made a video on this channel about the topic!
@georgie6443
@georgie6443 2 года назад
@@cfsrecovery Thank you for your reply. The most difficult thing I guess is becoming aware of deep-rooted past patterns that project into our now and into the future, which are basically just worry thoughts, such as being terrified of having a crash, I still live with that fear a lot, but am practising the retraining around it. It’s so inspiring to listen to your story and to know that you managed to get past all that you did. I will check out the other video you mention. Thanks for all the work that you do.

What if my emotional rollercoaster is not only about my symptoms but more because of early childhood PTDS? Like my body overreacts on minimal triggers or stress situation? I am in therapy and we will also start a partner therpay to minimize triggers between us... but I am in therapy for 6 years and actually I think the upcoming feelings during healing often stressed my body more then it helped. Can pepole with early childhood trauma that is like burned into their nervous system heal from trauma and CFS? Do you have suggestions how?
@janswimwild
@janswimwild Год назад
C-PTSD is probably at the root of my MECFS (POTS and fibromyalgia). It all came to a head with a divorce over seven years ago. Since then a good trauma therapist and positive somatic practices are helping me recover. Understanding that I can walk through my pain one step at a time, validating my feelings, and come through cleaner and more relaxed. It was relaxing and breathing into all pain, physical and emotional without panic, and not shying away from it really helped. This included calming my inner child and my present adult, being kind and compassionate with myself. Pacing is everything, a gentle acceptance of the moment. Regular breathing exercises, mindful walking, cold water therapy, these have all helped significantly. Also accepting that I can reverse that feeling of being a victim of the trauma and the abuse that led to the C-PTSD. By accepting that it happened, is no longer happening and that I can bring kindness and love into that space to heal it addressed the emotional and physical symptoms. Especially the panic attacks and fear that are deep rooted in the past. It’s slow and steady, and requires patience, self love and courage but you have this. I have had C-PTSD for most of my life (I am now in my 60s) and ME etc for 25 years and I am possibly physically better and emotionally happier now than I have ever been. Good luck. The love is within you, you can heal. ❤️

The times when you were symptom free and you over did it, was it because you had an underlying belief of "fear of doing/exerting too much" which cause you too crash?

Have a look at these videos to get a better understanding of what's going on and how the body is trying to recalibrate itself. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z5Bd6uM_oWE.html Also, here's a playlist I created that will help you deal with symptoms if you're looking for more info on specifics: ru-vid.com/group/PLJT8-UVmfsmKHgGkCQPKkmHgZL11LqvJa

Hi can someone please help, I have for a long time been suffering with feeling a general unwell feeling, almost like the flu, it comes and go, some days I’m not too bad. Also with this I get a sore throat and my glands feel so tender like their inflamed. However I don’t really suffer much with fatigue. I don’t feel like socialising, I have no life, because I mostly feel unwell. My doctor is investigating me for CFS, my symptoms fit so many other peoples, but I don’t see how it can be CFS it I don’t have the severe fatigue?? Anyone else had similar experience? Thanks so much
