My Boston is definitely an excessive licker and has bad separation anxiety. He follows me through the house all the time, lays in the doorway and watches when I’m cooking and lays on the bathroom mat while I shower. He is literally my shadow.

Mine licks her paws after playing, licks the couch, and ALWAYS sits down next to me and starts licking. Also, i think she developed it out of habit.

Ours is mainly affection, but I feel like sometimes it's for anxiety. Like if he feels bad about something he'll curl up on my lap and lick a while. He did that after his surgery a lot(the snip, nothing major).

My Lola is a big licker. I do think its because shes saying she loves me and is so happy to see me...even if Ive been there all day. But Ive noticed its not just licking...shell suckle on sheets when shes sleeping.

Boston love to give kisses. If I look at my Sasha in her eyes and say I love you she has her tongue out in seconds and goes into attack:) it’s great:) lol 😂 I crack up every time:) this can lead to zoomies.

Yeah separation anxiety could be a reason. Like I said Bella would lick the couch because of it.

maybe next video something to do preventing/extending their lives. i had to put my 9 year old down last night, vet says heart failure, chest cavity filled with fluid and i wasnt financially able to throw money at the situation. absolutely crush i lost my best friend/son.

I've had two Boston Terriers. The one I have currently doesn't lick so much, but my previous Boston licked everything. The sofa, the table, the carpet, the refrigerator, pretty much everything. He'd even lick the floor!

My BT licks mostly (I believe) because he likes the flavor. But I think (secondly) it's out of affection. He tends to target feet and back of knees (perhaps because it's within reach). I grossed out initially but have learned to ignore/accept the behavior, so much in fact, if I nap while lying on the floor, my entire head will be wet when I wake up (yum).

Bostons are just pigs 🐖 like boxers they have food on there mind 24/7 and between breakfast, treats ,dinner, and after they're sniffing and licking sents that we cant smell. I love bostons!

Our BT's lick my husband for attention, to show love, and he tends to sweat easily. Neither lick me because they know I don't like it. They get my attention by bringing me one of their toys and show affection by snuggling with me.

My girl loves licking hands and not faces. She will press her nose on your face but hardly licks. We call those "seal kisses." If you've ever seen a trained seal giving kisses thats what they do. She will occasionally give 1 lick- that's it. Your hands are another story, she loves licking them. Our boy on the other hand loves to give kisses- more like headbutt kisses because he comes in hard and fast 😆. They both have weird kisses but that's what makes them individual❤

Our Boston Terrier is a passionate kisser. My face is a lollipop from dawn to dusk from puppy age up to today (11 years old now) , she sleeps in bed under the covers even in tropical weather , my wife even calls her the Whife (contraction of whouaf and wife) purrs like a cat when sleeping and when getting scratches or belly rubs.

I notice my Boston licks when she wakes up, and it seems to help her clear her airways. My theory is that her brachycephalic condition makes her congested while sleeping and licking when she wakes up is a way of helping her open up her throat and nasal passages so she can breathe better.

Great video, as always! We have a 5 month old BT, and she loves to lick us and lots of everything else too. Probably love and exploratory as well. She doesn't do this to herself, it's us and other things. I'm going to try to redirect, as you suggest. Thanks so much for these tips!

thanks . i have 3 boston terriers and i always wondered why they lick so much. as you can imagine. i get a lot of kisses. i once was told it is also b/c there tongue is longer than there jaw. one of my bostons lick me to communicate she wants something.

My Boston Terrier is a licker. I believe it’s another way he communicates to me ( he “talks”to me ALOT!) Sometimes he comes up and kicks me a lot before bed. I’ve learned that’s his way of saying he wants to go to bed (but he won’t go to bed without me getting in bed with him). Also, he’s showing me he loves me❤️ Perhaps, It’s also because he has his licker license🙃

My Boston LICKS the couch or anywhere where we sit to the point of sopping wet! It’s gross to us BUT she has never done anything else. We do distract with toys, playtime, walks and treats but it’s not stopping. Any advice? She is adorable and a little over 3 years old, we had her as a pup at 4mos. Of course she does everything else in this video lol. And she is a chewer- no studies, they don’t last more than 10 minutes!!

My Boston licks everything and he is 6yrs old and has Cushings Disease. He is my 7th Boston and licking and this disease were never a problem with the others I’ve had. The vet did say Cushings is very common in Bostons

Isabelle loves to give kisses!! Especially when she can make it a surprise kiss. She even licks her sister Addie the Plott Hound and whether her licks are fully appreciated doesn't seem to be a factor, lol! More prevalent is her paw licking though. Excessive! When she was younger we explored allergies and skin issues, but the final determination is that it is a ritual for relaxation and enjoyment. It'll go on for SO long before she finally snuggles her baby and goes to sleep. We've trained her to stop licking on command, but she's not happy about it! Izzy's licking, is like her snoring, just another reason that we find her adorable and hilarious and SO Boston!!

My Boston likes to lick so I got him a Licky mat. Its a life saver. It has bumps on it to obstruct the removal of food so it takes a long time. I smear it with healthy snacks like sweet potatoes or peanut butter and he calms himself by working to get it.
