Love the first three picks as long as the all stay healthy. Also woulda been ok going with a DT tackle with either of second round picks and trying to get Benson, Corum, Irving, Davis or Allen at 87 or later. Still a solid draft!
A bit more risk than many Dallas fans would like but we're betting on the talent. In hindsight would've liked to add a WR earlier. Appreciate the feedback.
@@cpgmNFLDraft we’ve drafted both players in our mocks (Wilson/Brooks) and have had some backlash about it 😂 but there is no denying that those guys will be difference makers in the NFL.
Y’all already LOST me on that Peyton Wilson pick! Smh- Did we not learn anything from drafting Jaylon Smith & Vander Esch ? Then taking Brooks over Benson? Jesus help !!!
Nah we're hard-headed. Certainly understand why you'd want to avoid both players. But Wilson is two years removed from a far less severe knee injury (Smith's nerve had to regenerate 😱). Vander Esch had neck/spinal issues this isn't apples to apples. We're here for a good time not a long time at running back. Brooks is the most complete back in the class and our consensus RB1. Benson's vision is suspect but we understand the preference though he suffered a more severe knee injury in 2020.
That's fair. He tore his knee up in high school and in college but still runs like a gazelle. Clean bill of health the last two years. Based on who was available and who we think can make an impact immediately he was the best option.
"Blue Star Special!" Love it! For what it's worth Wilson has had a clean bill of health the past two seasons and we expect Brooks to be ready to go by training camp. A lot of folks prefer Trey Benson and that's fine but he suffered a more significant knee injury that included the ACL, MCL, LCL and Hamstring Tear early in his college career albeit not a recent injury very few of these guys come with no medical flags.
Our guy is there..... GET YOUR "CAN'T MISS" CENTER in the first..... This will SOLIDIFY your LINE..... If you pick Wilson, the only thing your getting is a FREE HANDICAP sticker for your car!!!!! In this draft, DON'T TRAD DOWN,.... PICK THE BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE. We need to stop trying to win the INDY 500 with a VW......
First mock I've seen with that many moves down along with a trade up. Communication was great between all of you so I enjoyed it! Hated to miss on JPJ, since I always think of Fred when you talk about JPJ, but I don't think he will be there in reality, so the move down in R1 is important as well as the other rounds too. Good Job!
Why move a left guard that made the pro bowl to Left Tackle ? Smith is a better guard than tackle . Barton will need a stout player next to him . Now you will have 2 rookie starting inside if Zinter is your left guard . If not him it’s Bass . No thanks .
Cause the only option at OT was Guyton and he will suck year 1 for sure… Barton is a great player and won’t need help. Bass and Zinter at LG is great as well. One later round OT the cowboys may like is Pitt OT Matt Gonclaves who they had on a 30 visit
In addition to what @ETRH6 mentioned we believe that the idea all along was for Tyler Smith to succeed Tyron at left tackle. But your point is valid. We would have liked to leave Tyler Smith at LG because we think that's his best position. But, the board from our perspective offered a lot more in terms of interior offensive linemen that could play at a high enough level immediately.
Great on trading down but no BROOKS ACL we draft to many injured players that has come back to haunt us LVE, Jaylon Smith plus our 2rd picks have been trash Boss man fat, Scoon maker smdh.
Yeah we were a bit risky which has bit Dallas in recent years. The injury isn't as severe as what Jaylon suffered but with Wilson's injury history on top of it certainly understand opting for a different RB. Brooks is our unanimous RB1 though.
@@RedmanLyons He did a good job in run support but he had the worst year of his career in coverage. 106 QB Rating & 4 TDs allowed and he returns on a 1-year deal. If nothing else, Dallas could certainly stand to make him the 4th corner. If you think there's a player on the roster already to do so then prioritizing corner isn't necessary.
We have lost some. Keep in mind the Eagles and Giants have lost more than we have. We were short players last season due to injuries. They will be back and we will get what we need and compete again!
True, but Eagles added quality players to make up for loses. And we did not. And adding Safety Johnson makes them much better in the CB. SAFETIES PORTION OF DEFENSE. HOW HAS DALLAS IMPROVED WITH ONLY KENDRICKS IN THE BACK END OF CAREER SIGNED? AND WE HAVE LOST SOME QUALITY PLAYERS THAT ARE NOT NECESSARILY REPLACED IN DRAFT. NEED MAZZI TO STEP UP, NOW HE HAD SURGERY. DT ROTATION IS POOR , THEREFORE, STOPPING RUN WILL BE A BIG CHALLENGE AGAIN. PASS RUSH NEEDS HELP. SAM WILLIAMS HAS TALENT BUT A 5 CENT HEAD. ANOTHER POSSIBLE RANDY GREGORY WAITING TO HAPPEN. FEHOOKO LAST YEARS 4TH ROUNDER WHERE CAN HE HELP? IF AT ALL. GHOLSTON ANOTHER PLAYER THAT MUST STEP UP.
@@hectorburgos1882 Good points. But who aside from Tyron Smith and Dorance Armstrong did we really lose? Dante Fowler was good but replaceable. Gallup was good as a #3 but dropped off considerably since his injury. Our Center Tyler Biadasz? No real loss there. He was never that good or strong enough at the position. Gallimore has never been the same since his elbow injury ineffective. Hankins is at the end of his career and did nothing for us last season. Aside from Smith and possibly Armstrong and Fowler on their own merit none of the players we lost were game changers. Every Team loses in FA's. We have spots to fill yes. But we can still bring people in when the cuts come and we have 7 picks in the draft. Thats how the Cowboys do things. The Eagles had no choice but to go wild bringing people in. They lost what 13 or more players in FA's? They could never fill those spots with just the draft. Oh, and lets not forget they now have Kellen Moore. You see what he did with the Chargers offense? Why does everybody give so much credit to the Eagles for their moves when in 62 years it's netted them one Super Bowl win? The formula can't be that great. Don't forget Diggs will be back. We also have DeMarvion Overshown who will be back at LB'er. We have John Stephens coming back at the TE position. Yep, Mazi needs to step up for sure. I also agree about Sam Williams, but he's just young and dumb I believe Zimmer will straighten him out. Remember the year we lest Cooper go among others? And the doom and gloom media said the Cowboys will win 3 to 5 games this season. They let too much talent walk and simply haven't replaced them. How did that work out for the media? The Cowboys go about things in strange way. I believe our draft will consist of an RB, DB, NT, DE or two, WR and possible an OT, But who knows the Jones may end up trading back and gaining more picks? Even at our worst we still compete. And we still own our division, and we still own the Eagles. What they do really doesn't impress me. Just my opinion. After 50 + years of watching this Team....The Good, The Bad and The Ugly very little upset me anymore. It's all entertainment that we have zero control over.
Brooks and Wilson with the injury history is too much. I will take Wilson and draft Trey Benson or Braelon Allen, Estime or Jalen Wright. We need to be way more physical in the run game.
We hear you. A bit too much risk taking both in the 2nd. Love Brooks' all around game though. No one is more complete than him. Either of the other backs you mentioned would be good selections. Folks are sleeping on Braelon Allen.
Love the trade down, I think the need for C is msm driven not to say Hoffman was a world beater last year. The Wisconsin C Bortillini is there possibly after everyone is gone and I’m confused on why he’s projected so late. JPJ & Barton just don’t feel like Cowboy picks this year, I think if they go premium pick on OLine it’s OT, & a 0-1Tech is needed that’s the only change I would like to see & then how the board falls.
Appreciate the feedback. Think the scouts, NFL Teams are higher on Bortillini than the public at large. Assuming Alt/Fashanu/Latham/Fautanu off the board who do you like at OT? Mazi has to be your 0-1, no?
@cpgmNFLDraft I'm hopeful that Mazi is 0-1 but we need I feel another 330+ , I'm not sold on Chris Davis but there's not alot out there about him. The linemen that I like that could be there is; Kiran from Yale & Kingsley from BYU. I'm not sold as much on the Alabama and Oklahoma prospects this year than those two and the young mauler from Oregon St
Dallas team doctor did his surgery all reports are positive and on track to make a full recovery. He's the most complete back in the class. Keep in mind Benson tore up his knee before he transferred from Oregon.
Gonna disagree with you here. Overshown is unproven (admittedly we weren't the biggest of fans of his entering last year's draft) and Kendrick's best football is behind him (1-year deal). Think Kendrick's will help a lot with setting the tone for Zimmer's return among the players. If you look closely at the best teams in football last season they had good to great linebacking play. It bit Dallas last year.
