@@Chad_Eldridge 900 koroks is a much much *much* bigger time sink though. It being something meaningful would make players feel like they *had* to do it and that'd suck. I do think you shoulda been able to display hestu's charm in your house though.
@@Chad_Eldridge as it is, there's basically no reason to get all 900 other than to get all 900. If there was something that made Link more capable, then it would be something you "have" to do to get the full experience, rather than just picking up koroks as you go. Seriously, you never need to hunt out koroks in the game unless you want to get all slots or 900 koroks. You get enough for about 2/3 of the slots naturally, just taking koroks as you notice them. It's only padding if you *want* padding.
Shit like this makes me feel like Nintendo hates gamers in their own country. That and the fact that one of the triforce shards literally required you to find like four or five charts to acquire it.
And then she sends you what appears to be her savings, which isn't much. Assuming Link has already taken the real savings, she's left with little to no money.
Her granddaughter has been kidnapped and her grandson is venturing into the world with pirates to get her back, I'd say this is an appropriate use of emergency money.

Here's a creepy little secret I discovered while replaying the Wind Waker a few years ago: If you shoot a Redead with an arrow while they are sitting in the fettle position,' it won't do any damage and the redead won't get up to search for you. Instead, the Redead will just look straight at you before returning to their idle state! Freaked me out when I first discovered this. It's like they know you were the one who shot them, but the fact that they react by turning their head to look at you just gets to me for some reason. Finding this out in the Earth Temple, one of Zelda's scariest dungeons, only made this even creepier to me... I'm actually not sure if this is considered a secret or not, but I haven't seen anyone talk about it... Either way it's a small creepy detail.
A similar thing happens in OOT, if you kill a redead when there is a pair of them, the alive redead will walk over to the dead one and go into the fetal position. After a few seconds, it will jerk it’s head at link and freeze him instantly with the redead scream. It’s like he’s angry that link just killed his friend. It’s Also freaking terrifying.
@@storewideboss6910 Jesus, that can actually happen? I know that Redeads will gather around one that you killed (some fans don't seem to know if they're mourning or cannibalizing it), but this occurs if there were only two of them? And it just freezes you all the way from across the room? @Alex Rossler Art Maybe in comparison to every Zelda dungeon there is, I might put the Earth Temple up there as one of the scariest, though honestly, it seems pretty mild compared to the Shadow Temple or Bottom of the Well. I guess part of it is because Wind Waker's art design in general manages to make anything and everything look bright and colorful (even the Redeads, which seem downright pleasant compared to their original, low-resolution N64 incarnations), but there's also the fact that the Earth Temple manages to have several wide, open chambers that let in natural light (which you typically utilize for puzzles). Hell, even the name conveys something different. "Shadow Temple" refers to darkness, a large yet restricting catacomb that's stained by both a bloodied history and the dark powers of an enraged, evil spirit which just recently escaped its confinement. "Earth Temple" is..... well, earth. It's pretty much a large, underground cavern that just happened to have a few corpses buried there. The place even manages to be occupied by some of Ganondorf's "living" soldiers like Moblins.
Man ReDeads were the source of many childhood nightmares. Imagine my surprise twenty years later when I learn you can just walk right past them. They're blind, so as long as you don't make any sound (and keep your weapons sheathed) they won't notice you.
One 'secret' I found in the GameCube version of this game was on the submarines you can find scattered around the oceans - or perhaps more precisely, in the configuration of rooms used to house the monsters inhabiting the submarine. The room containing the chest reward for clearing the monsters always contains a Sun-shaped mask on the wall, right above the chest. It usually has a frowning, disinterested face. As it turns out, the Ghost Ship also uses this configuration - with a bit of fog rolling in and a whole host of ghost monsters as you pointed out. But here things get a litte strange. Indeed, this Sun Mask has a crazed expression smiling eerily, with all teeth showing. The kicker? If you try to look at it directly using Link's point of view (using the C-pas on a GameCube controller), it will revert to the frowning, disinterested face when near the center of the point of view... Only to change back when you don't look at it directly. Still sends shivers down my back when I think about it.
Also, Link is pretending to be a cat even though there isn’t a single one present in the game and it’s unlikely he’s ever even seen one in his entire life.
I didn't know Link meowed in this game, that's kind of adorable. I feel like he'd be fine voice acted as long as he was a child in the game he's in, like this one. It wouldn't be too weird, at least imo.
I didn't know that, either, because I always cheesed that sidequest by hiding on a ledge near the windmill, and just waiting for Mila to show up at Zunari's shop to try and rob the safe, and then went to catch her in the act.
Incidentally, in the Ghost Ships Chart Room in the back, there is an ornate gold faceplate that changes as you enter the room, from a neutral face to an eerie evil smile. Dunno why, it's just a creepy thing they did.
I always jokingly thought that the Chus' gibberish was them cursing at me in Chu-language. Like how characters would swear in Looney Tunes. I guess I wasn't that far off.
That octo pot is also a punishment for Wind Waker players for using a guide to find the Triforce pieces before deciphering the sea chart to locate it. If you go to the exact same spot where a Triforce piece is meant to be there, it will instead give you that pot, and summon the octo
I did not know that All-Purpose Bait worked on any enemy except for rats. I did know about grappling Hearts from Zelda, but never had a need to. Grandma's Soup, a Fairy, and a Blue Potion or two are more than enough for any challenge in the game. Never made the connection between the pots and Triforce shards. I just assumed that it was something you could randomly pull up if you missed your target anywhere in the Great Sea. I think some other channel covered Jabun's scream before. I certainly remember learning about it on RU-vid but can't remember where. Japanese arguing is a very amusing TIL. Bombs were the first thing I tried against Stalfos. I also discovered the nun-chuck arm when I though that taking its mace away would make it less dangerous (how wrong I was). I would have lost it if the Savage Labyrinth rewarded 10 rupees in our version. That's on par with Hestu's Gift for reward value with the only difference being that I knew about the 900 Korok reward in advance before I set out to do it anyways.
I'll never forget the first time I played through all of Wind Waker. I had made it to the Triforce hunt section. I had recently recovered the Ghost Chart map from the Ship Graveyard. I had gone out to a nearby island - one that I believe had a minigame on it that I played until nightfall. When I saw the moon in the sky, I checked it against the chart to find out where I could find the Ghost Ship that night... And I realized that based on the phase of the moon...the Ship was due to appear on the very island that I was on at that very moment... Putting the chart away, I slowly looked out into the waters offshore...and there it was. It was an absolutely _perfect_ moment of serendipity; I wish I had a capture-card at the time, as I don't think I'll ever be able to replicate it so perfectly.
@@kaitoudark1 hence why I said “not properly” given, he deserves a link within the video itself, and or a shoutout - he didn’t even ask to use the video
This may or may not be considered trivia, but in Ghost Ship part when you're about to reach towards the chest there up ahead is a neutral face decoration at the end of some wall. It may look normal on the HD version, but in the original Gamecube version when approaching the chest, it gives out a malicious creepy smile. THAT ONE creeps me out back then which I had to change the camera angle just to avoid looking at that freaky expression.
One thing you may like to know is you can pour Forest Water (Before the 20 minute expiration; 30 minutes in the HD remake) on Kalle Demos in the Forbidden Woods to kill him instantly. That is of course after you cut all of its tentacles with the boomerang and you are able to actually get to his core.
This was a solid upload, man! I knew a couple of these, but overall pretty awesome video! That last clip of grandma fighting Moblins got a chuckle out of me too, haha!
#11 of asking for a boss battle arena ranking based on looks, feels, weather it fits the boss, theme, design, if it contributes to the boss and what ever you want
I love wind waker! It's one of the first Zelda games I didn't give up on after the first dungeon (of course I finished them later but) :D can't wait to watch it!
I'm playing old school runescape and watching a zelda video with an old school runescape music track. You had me checking my audio sources for a good 10 minutes. Loved the video!
I would love to see more Wind Waker related videos! It seems to have the least amount of content on a lot of the Zelda theory channels, but it's one of my favorite of the games.
@Zeltik on Windfall Island, you can get all the way into Zunari's Shop during daytime without a glitch. Normally if you enter, he approaches to shove you out. However, if one gathers the pigs on the island and chucks them into the shop, once they are in his path, it is hard for him to push them out of the way. Once this occurs, you can take advantage and bolt inside.
Fun fact: you can jump attack on treasure chests and the opening animation will be delayed. But if you do that on the Pirate Ship chest, the game will crash
Man... Watching the grandma bit at the end kinda made me miss my own grandma. She was the one who got me into video games and the Legend of Zelda in the first place, with my love starting in Wind Waker.
When you mentioned the Stalfos design in The Wind Waker, I am surprised that you did not mention its close resemblance to one of Igos du Ikana's soldiers, at least in terms of its head.
Tetra: Link...what are you doing Link: Just stealing your heart, Princess Tetra: You are such a dork. (And I’m the pirate around here! Drop that “princess” crap!)
I always assumed that the scream was from Bellum, and the whole of phantom hourglass occurs because the ghost ship didn’t have the shard of triforce, and so it coveted power from the ocean king instead
7:44 I burst out laughing, the japanese roughly translates to "you got a yellow rupee worth 10! eh? thats it...." I love it when things are like, not worthwhile but the game makes a joke out of it xD
If you keep going to the ice arrow dungeon and collecting dark nut belts and sell a bunch to Beedle, he’ll eventually chuckle and and call you a sucker
Wind Waker is stuffed to the tits with secrets, that's what makes it my favorite. Not covered in this video is the fact that you can pour Forest Haven water on Kalle Demos's head (the boss of Forbidden Woods) and it'll kill him instantly. Some streamer was jokingly "watering the plant" and discovered that by accident lmao
Had no idea about the all purpose bait use on the minblins and snake puppet Gannon. That's so cool to learn some new stuff about 1 of my all time favorite zelda games.
