Sociopathy, commonly classified as an antisocial personality disorder, is characterized by behavior patterns that include manipulation, deceit, aggression, and lack of empathy. Despite the media’s glamourization and widely inaccurate portrayal of sociopaths, most of them are not serial killers. They can be CEOS, lawyers, business owners, politicians, Wall Street traders, housewives, doctors, or anyone. So, how do you know if you might be dealing with a sociopath? Watch this video to find out.
Disclaimer: This video is purely for educational purposes only and is not designed to diagnose anybody with sociopathy or antisocial personality disorder. If you suspect that you might be a victim of a sociopath's behavior, talk to a professional such as a GP or somebody you trust in order to try and access support.

A while back I was in a mentally abusive relationship where in some ways I was treated lesser than their dog. But if I brought it up I was being an asshole and selfish. I was crazy and was talking to inanimate objects, etc. Everything was my fault. I in turn wondered, "maybe it's true. Maybe I am the crazy one. Maybe I'm a narcissist intentionally hurting this person and lying to myself about it. So I started researching so I could try to fix myself. As I searched it looked worse. I related to narcissistic personality disorder. I related to anti social personality disorder, both the sociopathic and psychopathic traits. I really must be crazy then, there's no hope. RU-vid started recommending me all kinds of stuff along those (these) lines. Then I watched a youtube video by a self defense instructor that had a masters in psychology named Richard Grannon. The video was titled "am I the narcissist?" I've read a million articles and watched a million videos and none of them could give a straight answer. Within the first couple of minutes he says (not exactly,) "if you are admitting that you may not be perfect and are looking this up, you are likely not the narcissist. In fact, you are probably in a relationship where someone is making you feel crazy, which is what a narcissist does." Since then I have learned and yes, we all do exhibit narcissistic, sociopathic, and psychopathic traits. Life is all about boundaries. These disorders exceed any normal boundary, but the traits exist well within any boundary too. Be aware of yourself and consciously think about your boundaries that you've never thought about. Where do you end and the other person begins? How much can you ask of them? Would you ask that of yourself? Just because you would ask it of yourself, does it mean that you should ask it of others? This applies to people that are hurting you too. The individual that made me feel that way, I'm certain now was a narcissistic personality disorder. That doesnt mean I get to narcissistically make them the bad guy. I could have easily been in their shoes. If you don't want to be the doormat, get off the floor. Set boundaries, and if they don't allow it, leave, and never look back. I hope this helps.

I’m 28 and I have a sister who is 15 months younger than me. She is almost 27. She has been my best friend pretty much all of my life. Because of some recent events, I have come to realize she’s a text-book sociopath. Because of the chronic manipulation and deception, I’m not sure if I can have a relationship with her moving forward. This is heartbreaking for me and I feel like I am losing a part of me. But the way she treats me, our family, and those around her is unacceptable. I hope she can get the helps she needs to manage her disorder.

The primary traits of a sociopath are an inability to actually honestly care for another human being, to feel another's pain, to feel sorry (deeply, truly sorry) for the pain he/she causes you (or others), to feel real love, to feel any real obligation to the well being of anyone but himself/herself, to have a conscience, period. Some say sociopaths tend to be “very charming”. I disagree with this characterization. I believe, rather, the sociopath mimics what he/she has observed as “charming” behavior tailored specifically to the individual upon whom he/she decides to prey. Sociopaths get off on “getting one over on you”, on interacting with you long enough to figure out what you like/care about (be that your kids, your pets, your family, your music, your hobbies, whatever), then tailoring their comments and conversations with you to those topics to “reel you in”, feigning similar interests or interest in general, playing you like a fiddle until you think they're so cool or so funny … then, once they've gained your trust, start testing you little by little in more sick ways to see if you'll do things to please them. To a sociopath, who is easily bored, it's all a game. You are a joke to them. They are getting pleasure at your expense, even though it may take you awhile to catch on. But you should have some early instinctive feelings that “something just doesn't feel right about this”. Trust your instincts IMMEDIATELY. The longer you stay involved with a sociopath, the more you will come to feel demoralized and broken and, quite possibly, suicidal. To the sociopath, you (and the countless others upon whom they are preying - because, make no mistake, they typically have multiple victims going at one time, “the others” - who they're keeping secret from you), you are a source of ego inflating supply. Everytime he/she can get you to come running when they say they want you, get you to believe them when they say “they're done with all that ” (referring to whatever bad behavior you've discovered and confronted them with, behavior that has deeply hurt you), whenever you react to the pain they cause you by crying /breaking down/ pleading/screaming/cursing/sobbing … they are LOVING it. It's like you're giving them the best drug, the best high they've ever had. And they know they've got you … and you become an even bigger joke to them than what you were to begin with. You're no longer a challenge, though, frankly, which makes you easily dismissed by them. Just when you think you wont hear from them again, though, you suddenly will, with a text that seems innocent enough … and you may be tricked into thinking, at that moment, “See, he/she does really care!” But again, watch and live it out, if you must, but you'll only find yourself right back at devastation and heart shattering pain. The sociopath cares about NO ONE, period. Sadly, deep inside, not even himself/herself. They are people who harbor a deep inner self-loathing, whose core is made of empty nothing and hateful insecurity. But NEVER make the mistake of thinking - if only you could show the socipath how committed YOU are to him/her, how much you love him/her, how YOU believe they are worthy of love, you can fix their inner wounded child …. Blah, blah, blah. Just stop yourself, for the love of all that is sane. I beg of you. Because your best efforts WILL NOT work to achieve this end. Your best efforts, your repeated coming back to them like this, in fact will only affirm the sociopath’s view of you as a pathetic pawn from whom he/she can continue to get “supply” (the ego feed they desparately need to survive). You mean NOTHING to him/her. You never did. You never will. A sociopath is not curable. There is no medicine, no anti-psychotic, no antidepressant, no therapy (the sociopath would never engage it anyway) that can ameliorate this condition. The only thing you must do is take steps toward SELF PRESERVATION. And you must, because a sociopath will kill you eventually. Truly. Psychologically damage you so profoundly, if you stay engaged in any relationship with him/her over a substantial period of time, that you may never recover. I know this. I allowed myself to stay committed to one for 22 years. And I'm intelligent. But my belief in my own self worth plummetted to the most dangerous lows a person's self-value could plummett. If you recognize these traits in whomever you've begun a relationship with, just RUN. and never, NEVER, look back. Block all contact. Don't fool yourself, as I did for years after I finally said, “Get out!”, into thinking, “Well, he sent me this text. I mean, I guess we could be friends.” It doesn't work! A sociopath doesn't have friends. A sociopath gathers people for “supply”, and any acts of reaching out to you is an attempt by the sociopath to see if they can still hook you, whether you will stil be an easy source of “supply” to them. It is ALL at your peril and expense and ALL designed for his/her benefit. Run, run, and run. And never, never, never look back. Trust me. I KNOW the truth of which I speak. Additionally, Catching a cheating spouse might be difficult, and knowing what local laws say you can and cannot do might be even more difficult. To simplify the process, consider hiring a private investigator to do the sleuthing for you I genuinely appreciate how incredible you are and your work! Thank you for a job well done Metaspyhub@gmail. com,,

The traits you describe are much closer to a Narcissist Sociopath. As a more stable sociopath, I am confident and don't need ANY outside validation. I use socialization to get what I want. Nothing more. Also most sociopaths don't have self loathing. That's more a narcissist trait. Most sociopaths "love" themselves more than anything else. I put myself ahead of everyone. I have a deep loathing for humanity more than anything else.

God can help you through it. Be hopeful and trust God. we have all sinned, and broken God’s law (the Ten Commandments). When a person breaks the law, they are then considered a criminal, and to bring justice, the judge must sentence/judge them according to their wrongdoings. No matter how big or small the crime, a person who breaks the law is a criminal, and are not judged by their good deeds but by what they have done wrong. For example; a m**der cannot say “I donated millions of dollars to an orphanage, you should let me go, look at all the good I’ve done.” Criminals are only judged for their wrongdoing, to let them go because of the “good” that they’ve done would be unjust. So those who have broken God’s law will be judged for their lawlessness, not the good that they’ve done. Since we have all sinned, we must be punished so that justice may take place. But if someone pays the fine for the crime we have committed we can legally walk free. Jesus took the punishment of sin, being innocent, so that all who repent of their sins and put their faith in Him may be saved. He essentially took our punishment so that we could walk free, he paid our debt. But one can accept or deny for someone to pay their fine, in like manner one can accept or deny this gift from God. If you repent of your sin (turn from it) and put your faith in Jesus, you will be saved.

You don’t have to have empathy to understand people, it’s hard to explain but I’ve learned this from watching several psychiatrists say the same. @@boxergirl84 That is wrong. Sociopath have feelings, all feelings including affection! They don't have empathy. F.e. if a friend cries in front of them, they don't get automatically sad feelings too. They can understand what is going on ( they aren't autistic ) and they can have sympathy, f.e. this thing happened to me too, it felt like this, so this is probably what my crying friend is going through right now. But the feeling doesn't swap over to them. They can also have compassion, the want to help the crying friend. A lot get diagnosed late, because they don't know they don't have empathy. And they don't actually stick out that often. There is a spectrum. And personality plays a big role too. Imagine someone who is empathetic but a complete a**hole. Now take empathy away on top of it. Pretty bad. But if someone has a kind, calm and soft personality, but lacks empathy, probably not that much of a problem. Genetics play a role, but mostly it is caused by having cold parents that discourage their children from feeling from a young age, f.e. to "toughen them up". They often end up in therapy for depression and a feeling if deep emptiness inside of them, that nothing seems to fill up. And are then discovered to have Aspd. Some get violent due to that emotional pain. They can also have problems with dopamine, need new things otherwise they feel bored. Some can be pretty bad, but some are chill. So it really depends on the person. I hope this was understandable.

i don't know if you guys get their whole perspective , it's difficult for them at that age to actually understand how this works . half of them can think that they identify with these not because this is cool but they have those traits. most of the people have many of these traits at some degree but they don't have a mental disorder. like you guys think most of the people don't feel envy , anger , frustration or aren't ignorant to other's remorse at times? i would've wondered if i'm one of these if i saw this video at that age but not because of thinking it's cool , and i'm just an introvert . getting some behaviours completely invalidated from the society due to the norms also affects kids at that age , like i got called antisocial when i didn't even understand what it actually meant rather than just a guess and was just wondering about my mental condition , about why i wanted very limited social interactions and had a lot of difficulty in feeling the opposite how most of the other people around me did. some good amount of experience is needed to connect the theoretical information with the correct practical representation of it , i don't think majority of them have that much experience and a good perception to distinguish themselves easily from people who have this disorder by just learning about them on a screen , the information is not detailed to the point people with very less knowledge about these can accurately understand. even when it's very detailed , it shouldn't be taken as absolute. but maybe you were just specifically talking about those who lie when they know they don't identify with this disorder , if that's the case then no problem. i commented this just in case if you were lumping all of them together who comment like that.

The main way her problems manifest is that she will shout and yell when perceiving adversity, unaware of how it affects those shes shouting at, which included me when I wasnt doing well in school. An important thing to note is that she at no point intended harm, it is simply a natural reaction that she learned was acceptable through her military service. Shes very receptive to being called out, and has worked on improving toxic behaviors when they're pointed out, but has a limited ability to self reflect on those actions and realize she was in the wrong. Admittedly, this is made worse by my general avoidance of conflict, which can make the situation worse as I have trouble bringing up the courage to point out the problems in the moment. Despite these problems, she still makes an active attempt to spend time with my brother and I and actively avoids any harmful behaviors. We still have a close connection, even if there are complications attached. Shes trying her best, and considering everything shes had to go through, shes doing a damn fine job of it.

Actually they can show a great deal of empathy & remorse, they do apologize & communicate very well - but it’s all an act. That’s the thing, when dealing with a sociopath you most likely won’t know until many years after getting to know them very, very well. One sign is their words and actions won’t always line up. They apologize, but keep doing the same things over and over. But usually, that’s not how a person behaves in the earlier times of a relationship. They can butter you up for years. I think the quickest way to make note of a red flag is to find out about that person’s family history - from someone other than just them. If they were abused, neglected, had an alcoholic or drug addicted parent, etc, they are more likely to have this or some other serious condition. Only deal with someone who has spent time in counseling SERIOUSLY working on inner healing, if they haven’t, I wouldn’t deal with them at all. Suggest they get help & MOVE ON. You don’t want any type of relationship with somebody that has to be told they need help. Hurt ppl will hurt other ppl. Period. Connect yourself with ppl who are self-aware & always SELF-motivated to heal, grow & improve. Anyone who portrays themselves as just about perfect is probably the exact opposite! Most of all, connect yourself with people of faith because God is our greatest healer! Hope this helps someone. God bless 🦋

This isn’t the type of person you can help, they have to choose to get help for themselves and you should be far, far away from as they do it. Pray the best for all and let them go. If they’re family or someone you can’t cut ties with, remain as distant as possible. LET THEM GO. Let them go on and find what they need, it’s not you. Really, it’s Jesus. If they invite God in, HE will heal them in His way. A friend of mine is actually a sociopath. He's actually very chill. He can be very cold sometimes, but that's just him being him. The way he says it is that most sociopaths who manipulate others do so because they're bored and want entertainment; been friends with him for 6 years and he hasn't tried to hurt me yet, in fact, he's actually helped me with my depression on multiple occasions. Sociopaths can be extremely dangerous for sure, and a lot of what was said can be true, but not 100% of the time for all sociopaths; not all of them are out to manipulate you and ruin your life. A lot of the sociopaths that you don't hear about on the news are just trying to blend in because they know society will tear them to shreds by just being what they are. Also, this video really makes it sound like you think sociopaths are evil, they are not. They are just misunderstood. One thing that I heard from someone on Reddit is, "The sociopaths that are good people and don't try to go out of their way to harm individuals are usually sociopaths that don't ever tell you or show you that they are a sociopath." All in all, if you're being abused by a sociopath, by all means, get out of that relationship, but not all sociopaths want to hurt you.

I do have a couple of signs of sociopath which I really, REALLY dislike in myself. Like having possesive love for someone. I... had at least couple episodes in my life when it really screwed me over and made me react very unwise. The other sign is that when I used to be a kid, I enjoyed seeing my little brother suffering. I also was very on edge all the time and was REALLY annoyed by him being (and I believe it was done at least partially on purpose)... well annoying in general. Also I'm kinda violent, but I mostly keep myself under control. To be fair, that one actually was useful in college where I was bullied when I was freshman. I used violence to fix problem of violence... well, only for myself, since I was incapable of helping other guy who was badly bullied until he went to other college.

That anyone that has attempted to share their experience of an individual suffering with A.S.P.D, Sociopathy, or Psychopathy are all teenagers who are trying to be "edgy" or "edge-lords". It's caught my attention. Much like my diagnosis has interested me. Is it common for teenagers to pretend to be the "Hollywood" definition of a "psycho" to gain some sort of difference towards the general population? to scare their peers in an attempt to explain their social occupation as an outcast? "High functioning" is a term which is usually used for people in the autistic spectrum who are intelligent enough to adapt to the society and environment. Sherlock used the remark "High functioning sociopath" as a mask to scare people off of seeing the truth. Autistic people often speak of themselves this way to set theirselfs apart from others. Btw, Sherlock Holmes was never described as "sociopath," and according to Moffat Sherlocks remark wasn't meant serious, just sarcastic. Noone can define himself.

My brother is one. He manipulated and mentally abused my mother and I for years. He stole and minipulated money from our mother for years. All her retirement money. When we called the cops on him he would always get so mad and scream "what about me!?" when we would say we had to call them because we were scared of him and he was hurting us. The first time he went to prison I thought everything would be better but he manipulated mum into thinking he had changed. So I left. I couldn't take it anymore. Mum never understood how he treated me when she was at work, how he destroyed my confidence. But once I was gone he focused on her. All the gas lighting and cruelty I got shifted to her. The last time he went to prison, she cut ties with him finally. He is so sickeningly charming. The amount of times he sweet talked cops, mental health professionals and strangers into believing he was this great guy. I'm in therapy now for my cptsd after suffering years of his torment. I'm doing really well, working on my fear of people and learning to be proud of myself and love myself. He will never grasp nor care the damage he has done to us, ever and its taken therapy for me to accept that.

It happened a few times and then she ran away with her daughter (she was also beaten up by him at times). His second wife also ran away with her two sons. Idk what particularly he did to them, but when i sometimes meet them (my cousins) i can tell by their behavior that they are traumatized. Now has a third wife and a little son. He treats her like nothing as well, but she is still with him. Luckily, my father only abuses us (me, sis and mom) emotionally & mentally. And also tells us that he will throw us away from home at times. He is as wealthy as his brother, but we still live like average people and even worse at times. I know someone in my inner circle of friends who is indeed a sociopathic personality. While this person is very charming, bubbly, a bit extroverted and overall "nice" , when it comes to other people and their emotions, this person lacks empathy and can gaslight other peoples emotions, not taking responsibilty for their own actions, nor do they feel they did anything wrong and can be at times narcissistic. This describes my friend's personality to the T. And she never apologizes for her own irrational behavior. This video has helped me to understand this person a bit better and about the personality traits as a whole as I was completely left in the dark about it.

The thing I wish more people knew about sociopaths is that they don't lack empathy. As in, it's not some part of their brain that's supposed to be there or functioning correctly and just isn't. Sociopathy means you're empathy-IMPAIRED. You can still experience very limited empathy depending on the context, who it's aimed at, what type it is and how far along you are in learning about and developing yourself.

I've come to realise that I'm not a good person, I more often than not don't feel any sort of remorse, my empathy is limited only to observation and putting myself in another's shoes, not in being compassionate, I lie all the time without trouble, and my mother said that I'm irresponsible and apathetic towards others, I guess regardless of whether I have any disorders at all in the end I'm simply a defect, a normal person wouldn't be like me.
@TheOceanBearer
@TheOceanBearer 3 года назад
I was friends with a sociopath in high school. There were many things I could relate to with him being that I'm autistic. I feel empathy strongly and am very sensitive, but at other times I simply do not understand others' emotions but for very different reasons a sociopath will tend to have difficulty or inability to understand others' emotions. He experienced a lot of existential crises throughout his life and never knew how to put his finger on it, he didn't know how to feel love in the same way others do, even for his own family, and this made him feel empty and alone, although he would feign a warm and sociable personality to get by in life. At certain points when he didn't have the energy or care to feign, he would express a lot of bitterness about the idea of love, that in his words, it is nothing but a chemical reaction and it does not actually exist. I believe he felt a kind of love, such as for some partners, friends, and pets, but he was so disassociated from his emotions that he could not feel emotional attachment in the same way most people do. He'd admit to being manipulative at times and give examples. At least most of the examples were actually the same stuff the average person does but would be in denial of being technically manipulative, such as complimenting someone and then saying something like, "Boy, I sure do want such and such," and they'd get it for him. He knew how to charm people as well. But he didn't do these things to hurt them, it was simply the only way he knew how to cope and survive, as sociopaths (as well as psychopaths) will often say, "Everything is transactional." I feel that sociopaths and psychopaths alike are in some ways simply faced with reality candidly; without the emotional attachments most people have, they are forced to see that we are technically all manipulating each other to some degree and everything in a way is transactional, regardless of the emotions felt during the "transaction" by us folks who don't have to live with this condition. For instance, when you tell people you need help, you are manipulating them to help you, which is of course not a bad thing whatsoever. Or when a therapist makes gentle suggestions to you that could help you, they are technically manipulating you to consciously or subconsciously take in the idea and act on it in some way. This is of course also not a bad thing. What matters is how and why we are manipulating each other and if boundaries are being respected. He also obviously had very limited empathy, and this would lead him to talk about himself more than he would listen to others at times and would not realize he was being rather narcissistic (which I feel is in some way probably a coping mechanism; he actually struggled a lot with hating himself). He started going to therapy consistently, shortly after high school to try to work on the things that he struggled with and take care of his mental health, especially since it began really declining around that time. Many times when I've seen him acting enthusiastic about something, I can see right through it and know deep down he doesn't enjoy it that much, that he probably still feels like a shell of a person and is partaking of said hobby to distract himself from how he really feels inside. Although I can relate to certain things he'd experience, I can only imagine what it must be like to have ASPD. Sociopaths are not necessarily bad people. They just need support, guidance and love like anyone else.

you're mixing up sociopathy and psychopathy (as did the video). sociopaths understand and disagree with them and the social game; which you as autistic wouldn't even grasp. But if he had mild psychopathy, then it would be easy for you both to orientate on each other since you'd be easy to control, and he wouldn't play silly social games with you that you wouldn't get.

Sociopaths and psychopaths have one interest and one fear in common: Power over others, and they fear accountability for their actions, which is why you often see sociopaths/psychopaths in positions of power and continue climbing the social hierarchy until the law doesn't apply to them anymore, and they are free to hurt others without fear of having to own up to their actions.

The reason why I don't like this comment necessarily is because not all sociopaths are the same. The media and a lot of misinformation has spread that all sociopaths are people who are so unbelievably toxic and should be avoided at all costs when that's not all the time true. I have a cousin who suffers from ASPD. A lot of people also tend to forget that Antisocial Personality Disorder is similar to Autism, it is a spectrum -- which is also why psychologists may label their patients as high-functioning sociopaths or low-functioning sociopaths. Every sociopath feels things differently, even if they don't feel anything at all. The cousin I have actually was clinically diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder around the age of 6 or 7, and he has never once done anything freakish like kill animals in his spare time, stab or attempt to kill anyone or anything. Sure, he is manipulative but, the only reason he says why he manipulates people is if it's for their own good; or if they're being incredibly ignorant about something important. Please, whoever is reading this, look up videos of sociopaths answering questions on Reddit. It's kind of sad since there are actually some ASPD individuals who actually wonder what it's like to have more functioning emotions and not have to put up a front for other people.
@fieryrebirth
@fieryrebirth 3 года назад
@@yung2905 Sociopaths and psychopaths have inactive or absent mirror neurons which is what gives one empathy and the ability to explore emotional variances(which naturally helps creativity). In materialistic societies, it's easy to socially suppress those empathetic qualities so there are those that don't even know they are capable of feeling empathy for others as long as they lack self-awareness and aren't honest with themselves through a healthy education. What adds to the confusion and uncertainty is that there are those diagnosed with ASPD and are on the spectrum - and yet have expressed TONS of empathy to animals and/or plants, and even feel their pain, just not or little of it to humans. In my psychology classes, I discerned those with these traits are usually from the offspring of both a sociopath and an empath. To make matters more depressing, having 'too much' empathy can be a thing and when unchecked, promotes naive thinking in a 'free spirit' sense.

As someone who highly suspects of being a high-functioning sociopath, I've been through shit tons of abuse and passing of my father at 13, for which I find to be the "cause". Now, I can feel things, as per say, since I have felt them as a child, but now (still teen years), I have impulsive outbursts but can actually, with effort, "feel" things, or can lie about feeling them. But, I'm usually just bored and dead cold. As I said, I'm highly suspicious, though don't have a diagnosis because I don't want to get any kind of medical attention or treatment, aside from the therapist that I'm seeing and comfortable with, since I despise the idea of it. Also, not feeling anything, for some such as myself, is untrue. My best friend, for example, for him I'd flip the whole world upside down, and did once in high school. I ended up at the psychologist's office, but didn't really care. Since I understand emotions due to having them in the past, I developed a "switch" for them, so I can be either dead cold or actually kind of normal, even though everything still feels forced because I know that it in a way is. Yes, I dislike people because they're in general stupid, but I have no tendency for harm, and if I sometimes do, I just toss it aside and they go away. Hence why I say high-functioning sociopath, because I feel like I've developed it from trauma, but have immense amount of control over myself. Practically, I use it as a superpower, where I tend to exploit "affection" towards positive things, but am completely switched off towards anything negative.

I've personally known two sociopaths. One was more manipulative than the other. Both are aware that they're sociopaths because of their diagnosis. One of them understood that being sociopathic towards people isn't the way and he often tried to control himself from manipulating others. He wanted to fit in with others more. After awhile, he ended up isolating himself from everyone because socializing with others and trying to keep his ASPD inside fatigued his energy. The other one I still know, and he is slowly getting better. He was a lot more manipulative, lied all the time, and never apologized for any wrong doing he did. Right now, he is more chill, and seems to apologize at times if he feels like he needs to. Sociopaths are not all completely bad. In fact, many of them mentally improve overtime. It's important to give them space whenever they need it because they can become fatigued from too much socializing, and it's also good doing this so that you don't end up developing an unhealthy relationship with them.

This, I know how I am, so I try to isolate myself from everyone I can. No one should suffer my own problems. Sadly it leaks out from time to time, and even worse on the people I do care about on some level.

Im just emailed my therapist to change my next session from a family session to an individual session. I just made fun of someones dead mom on instagram and her bfs dead grandpa. I felt so good and caught up in the moment I did not once feel bad about anything I was saying. Once I blocked them both I snapped out of it and noticed that I didn’t feel bad for making fun of people’s death of a loved one. When the bf tried attacking me I felt nothing emotionally. I usually get upset about my dead relatives being discussed but this time I felt nothing. I am going to get this checked out ASAP

Characters with sociopathic traits are really interesting, in most cases. And they allow for much character development, if during the plot said character slowly becomes less and less sociopathic.

I think they're interesting to explore, especially the choices they make, but are kinda dull otherwise, especially when it comes to their inner world
@OpossumEzzy
@OpossumEzzy 3 года назад
@@outcast4087 It is not possible for someone to become 'less sociopathic' as it is a mental disorder. It is possible for them to learn how to act neurotical, and to learn to fake empathy, however it is an act. This does not make them a bad person, however. A lot of sociopaths are like that because of childhood trauma, and have less or no empathy as a coping mechanism. You can still be a good person without empathy.

You can also look at Cozy Glow on My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. As I recall, she has most (if not all) of these qualities.

@@OpossumEzzy Maybe it's not possible "IRL"... BUT many Sociopaths actually just have "low empathy" not "no empathy"... Important nuance about them. AND Tessa was talking about creating a Character, as in for a story or game... In some Games and Stories, the "world-setting" has or allows for magic, and with magic, anything is possible... not necessarily feasible or practical, but possible. It's Fiction... I'm a GM and Player in RPG's like D&D or GURPS, SO I frequent these vid's for some of the insights required to develop Characters (PC's as well as NPC's) with mental health issues... I hope to explore them and RP them better... AND/OR I hope to help other Players and GM's get their Role-Playing chops up to the next level, too. ;o)

Wow this really describes a girl I really liked in my early 20s.She would act like she was interested in me when other people weren't around just enough to keep me interested and could make cruel remarks towards me around other people,it really hurt and I always got a sense she enjoyed hurting me.Why I let her is probably a disorder of my own because I always seem to be attracted to that type of person,I think what makes me attracted to somebody who can be cruel?I think it's my own insecurities and the need for validation,why I'm sharing this with people I don't know??I have no idea😂

@@aubrey5577 this statement is simply not true, the brain isn't in a solid state. The brain has a factor of plasticity to it. Behaviour and habits can change due to different lifestyle changes, different upbringings ect. To say that someone is born a psychopath or a sociopath is not true. But the experiences that person experience or seen is what makes them that way, for example if someone had a abuse childhood and never got help, it's safe to say they will carry that trauma into adulthood and if that happens they may carry out psychological tenancies.
