I’m so grateful for this! I’m really looking into doing this as a SAHM. Super valuable video ❤️ 7 skills: 1. Tech skills: software, docs, etc 2. Be a learner / willingness to learn 3. Woo - be an effective communicator 4. Be detail orientated 5. Order (reliability, dependability, organisational - be able to prioritise) 6. Visionary outlook, what are your goals? 7. Grit. Be tenacious and persevere Thank you!
I am a career switcher. Worked 22 years as an information systems developer. I would like to pursue being a bookkeeper. Where should I start with my learning that will begin building my credibility as a bookkeeper? Thank you for the terrific videos!
Why is it you youtuber bookkeeper stuff is general advice but never showing how you yourself record transactions (excell sheets and quickbooks etc)? Categorize, reconciliation? Would be nice if you would demonstrate with live examples of how to do the tasks.
It is definitely okay if an individual inverts number sometimes (for example, as is often seen in dyslexia). Those individuals need to double check their work similar to the big picture thinkers. People who invert numbers sometimes are not necessarily excluded from book-keeping work.
As someone who has never even considered a career in bookkeeping, this actually sounds like something I might be really good at. I’m looking for stay at-home options, as my husband and I consider growing our family. This seems like such a great option that would allow me to stay home, bring in a good income, and do something that I could actually enjoy. Thanks for the cheesy metaphor, too. 😉 I love it! Can’t wait to check out your other videos as I consider this exciting new option!
Thank you for this information, I am 61 years old retired, live in Honduras, Centro América, I have a college degree in management and have experienca as a Manager. Do you think than I can find a job like a bookeeper? I aprreciate your videos.
Love what you are putting out there. I actually just listen to the audio while I work on other projects. Just thought I would share that for you to keep in mind, RU-vid premium let’s you do that and I love it.
Your videos help tremendously, Morgan. I am going through the QuickBooks ProAdvisor training. Many of the different pieces make sense and fall into place because I've watched your videos, and you have explained something about it. I would have taken your class in July except I just found myself unemployed and am watching every penny pretty closely. Hopefully next time works better. Meantime please keep the videos coming. They are an amazing help!!!
I want to learn bookkeeping.I was student of finance and banking.I want to start my career as bookkeeper.can you please suggest me any online course or anything.from starting ,day base work, everything details i want to learn.thanks in advance.
Yes, you should be able to! There aren't specific regulations for bookkeepers, so as long as you can find clients in other countries, you should be good to go. I've heard sites like fiver are helpful.
I am Sri Lankan.Sri lanka is south Asian country.I have an idea to start virtual bookkeeping business .I am going to offer my services to the USA and canada. Is it realistic goal? Can i get clients becauase i live in foreign country.?
Hey! Morgan published a videos about starting a bookkeeping business from overseas, this may help you out as you figure out how to find work from outside the US (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XRK_Ww72BkQ.html). Krista (FinePoints Admin)
Would you please try to speak a little slower? excellent material, but as a learner i'm trying to digest what you've just said and miss the point of it as you proceed in your script. no doubt that you know your craft, just a little slower please. i've tried a couple of times but i can't understand your name or anything else you say with it in your introduction. admittedly i am probably twice your age ;-))
I am considering pursuing this career book keeper. Am learning all I can about accounting and book keeping. And later on work on a book keeping certificate. But in meantime I am gonna get a day job in either Receptionist or Customer Service Representative and work on bettering my skills. 😁
Love your videos. I am not a bookkeeper, but I do some booking keeping for my fiancé trucking business, apart from been the dispatch manager. My golds are to learn more about bookkeeping noting that I Iove to create templates in excel or google sheets and work with formulas. After viewing some of your videos I have decided this is my starting point to grasp and further my knowledge of bookkeeping and to build my client list. Best Regards
Hey! Morgan recommends Asana for project and calendar management. Here is a short video explaining how Morgan uses Asana for her bookkeeping organization: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-erzqzDh8TqY.html Krista (FinePoints Admin)
Hi! i`m very exited to start my own business as Bookkeeper but i i'm a bit confused about one thing. I hope you can clarify it for me. Imagine a scenario which i had five clients. How i would manager the accounting software for each clients? For exemple, in QuickBooks is possible i have diferente accounts for each single client or i need to ask each client to create a QuickBooks account thus i would access them accounts. could you help me please???
Good question. Sign up for QuickBooks Online Accountant ... it has your own books for your business, and then there is a dropdown where you can find each of your clients. It's all within your one login. It's free for your business, but you start paying per client you have (or the client can pay for their subscription).
Hi Morgan. Thank you for your videos. They are very useful! I have a question regarding Quickbooks online... I am thinking of starting up as a bookkeeper and I am looking at accounting softwares to get started. Does Quickbooks online let you do accounts for several clients with one licence?
Yes, you can have many clients under your one account--but with QBO you need to pay for each client (or have the client pay). With desktop, you just buy the program once and can do the books for many clients. Even with that cost difference, I still like QBO better now. :)
Cool visuals, great clear audio. I find David Allen materials for Getting Things Done (GTD) super helpful. There is a workflow chart PDF easy to find online, and it is applicable to just about anyone with something to do LOL. GTD is great for organizing, streamlining from your day down to your workspace. ❤
Hi Morgan, just started watching your videos. I think they are awesome. I would like to know the workflow tool you use, mentioned in this video. Couldn't figure it out despite replaying that part. Thanks
Exellent👍 your channel is my favorit one. I have a 4 years diploma degree in economy but I have't a lot experienc in that field but I'm sticked on it. I think all the time to learn more, to be in industry and to grow upp. Thank you for all your videos.
Hello Morgan, congrats for your work over here 😉....Simple question: Do US business use to hire bookkeepers around the world or that role should be done only by Americans ? Thanks and keep up the good work 😄
You can definitely work for US business owners from out of the country. It just depends on what the business owner is looking for. -Gabe (FinePoints Admin)
It might be a silly question, but I am gonna ask anyways. What kind of documents you should request from clients to do their bookkeeping? I know it includes bank stat, invoices, receipts....etc. Is there a list to be checked? Thanks
Good question! I don't have a list made up, but good idea for a future video. I personally try not to get any paper from clients, but get these things electronically. The things you named are correct, along with bills, payroll info, possibly billable hours.
HELLO I WANTED TO THANK YOU VERY MUCH I HAVE A QUESTION I AM AN ACCOUNTANT IN MOROCCO IN NORTH AFRICA I HAVE 12 YEARS OF ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE HOW CAN I COME TO CANADA AND FIND A JOB IN MY FIELD IN HOW LONG? THANK YOU
Hi Said! Morgan lives in the US, so she does not have all of the answers you are looking for to work in Canada, but here are a couple of videos Morgan made about working as a bookkeeper overseas: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XRK_Ww72BkQ.html, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VKDQzIt2P8k.html. Hi FivePoints, yes woo is one of the strengths listed in StrengthsFinder👍 How do you go about a situation where you’ve communicated that you prefer to be paid for your services in advance but the client continues to pay later...and later over time? Pretty much they are ignoring your communications. What do you do?
