I really like how they made honkai like "let's make a sad story" and then on genshin "hey let's make another sad story but as the past"

Streetward Rambler and Guizhong were very close. Another evidence of her grief is that she never played the melody for Guizhong again after she completed it, mentioning it that after the person most attuned to her soul died, noone else would ever understand it.

This is the same soulmate reference during archipelago with Xinyan and Kazuha. They understandstand each other and connected through music. Xinyan song she was working had blazing trails in its lyrics referencing the her island domain in archipelago last year. The collaboration name "Blaze Lilly's" reference to the sentient flower she met there. She was able to write it cause the people around her understood her soul. Just like Madame Ping until Guizhong died. As artist it's nice to share something with someone who understands you on a deeper level. If that person dies or betrays you that can strip you on a soul level cause attachment and trust is involved.That's why it's crazy how people got mad over the mentions of soulmate, or kindred spirits with these pairings. Both have a beautiful meaning, being an artist I understood what Hoyo was trying to convey with both stories. Unfortunately, All people really care about are just surface levels of shipping and fighting over "whose the best". Anyway, This was a great video analysis.

On the part of the god's death, it also shows how much damage it cause even for a minor god in the story of the salt god where everyone in the vicinity was turn to salt statue when the god was killed.

A great cutscene to present bits and pieces of history. Also, a reminder that it's from Cloud Retainer's POV, and it was focusing more on the impact of Guizhong's death on Ping. So no need to conclude the story and think that's all there to it. It makes some things clear, but still lefts a lot unanswered. Rex Lapis was always a judge in the quarrels of other Adepti because he is the prime Adeptus. Although it doesn't explain the forming of the GuiLi plains and the Pledge of Guizhong and Rex Lapis, I'm sure we'll see more of it in the future. After all, the cutscene wasn't about the GuiLi plains.

Almost every romance, if not all, of Genshin is pure head canons. Hoyo hasn't confirmed anything. Apart from that, this cutscene was heart-breaking. It was told from Cloud Retainer's pov so there are likely to be things unexplained

At 0:32 you can see Zhongli and Guizhong wearing the same hairclip on their hair but with a different color. Guizhong’s is green and Zhongli’s is gold.

i can already imagine that ping and guizhong were like modren day girl best friends but in the past, it hurts seeing guizhong go. she took “the god of dust” too seriously..

3700 years has passed both Retainer and Ping still saddened by Guizhong's death then there's Zhongli having a tea party with other adeptus. I wonder if hoyoverse would make a gameplay for the Archon War and the Cataclysm, like a DLC or maybe as another game. It would be cool to play as the First Descender, exploring around and meeting the original 7 archons. Then the Cataclysm will be the other sibling POV.

The new lore doesn't confirm ANYTHING about Guili's relationship. We see them both from Cloud Retainer's pov who was ridiculously reclusive even then.

Please this is mihoyo they will only ever tease relationships never confirm anything to avoid passing off fans and ships. That's why four acts in we still don't have a character who is married. Zhongli and Guizhong are "best friends" just like Beidou and Ninguangg are "best friends". And grief affects everyone differently. Zhongli threw himself into his work. Cloud retainer I guess became more reclusive. Madame ping went to live in the human society to understand guizhongs words. And she had her home in the guili assembly not the mountains and we know all adeptus even ping lived there. Zhongli on the other hand much like he protected liyue would also have been guili assembly protected since he was the brawn and guizhong was the brains. Highly likely they lived close or together...

and thats just a few minute cutscene, imagine what a two-hour long movie can do to our emotions❤

Remember when people were throwing fits saying how Guizhong and Ningguang will be the same person and how they're really simmilar and how Zhongli was so in love with Guizhong then this? I'll be honest I like it more. Because if Guizhong was just like Ningguang it wouldn't have hit as hard because Ningguang is a character already alive and well that we know so it wouldn't hit hard at all for her past life to have died but she's fine.

I saw someone's community post where they put Guizhong and Sandrone side by side. I hope it's a just a massive coincidence.

I don't feel like this cutscene implied Zhongli and Guizhong were just friends/colleagues. It showed they cared deeply for one another. If anything, I feel like the position and state Guizhong is in could have implied Zhongli was hugging her before the end

Guizhong galaxy outfit make me wonder what is it exactly? What is the connection it has to her and were it merely a simple outfit idk but something must be going on with that galaxy pattern

I like how they went ahead and finished the event story because tons of ppl showed the cutscene. Now you can say that isn't why they did it but every other lantern rite main quest was about 5 days, 3 parts not 2. Now yes I may still be wrong but hey uou never know.

I noticed Menogias and the pyro yaksha, but not Bosacius, Bonanus or Xiao.

We can't really say about Gui and Zhongli as this story was more about getting friends close together with music and her relationship with the adepti. Last year we had the story of the yaksha This year we have the view of the adepti Maybe next year we will have Zhongli's personal sight of things.

I'm surprised Xiao was there when Guizhong died. I thought he was indeed over 2000 from his description, but not over 3000 (like saying you're over 20, i would assume you're still within 21-29, not in 30s or 40s, but that's probably just me lol), so i thought he never met Guizhong since he was born way after she died. And I couldnt really tell it's him, but looking again, that does look like his pose in yaksha cutscene, just lack the polearm ig. And a bit too tall than i thought lol. I wonder if he used to adore Guizhong too since she was quite a lovable person.

I hope we get to see this in their upcoming anime, if the one ufotable adopt is the archon war arc.

Being a loving god is hard in teyvat, their death also means doom to their territory with the miasma and such. So far, only Zhongli is reponsible enough to clean up after other god's miasma. Raiden is the worse at cleaning, way too many island left fucked up cause she killed a god there. Venti didn't clean up after decarabian, but he does terraform his entire domain to be habitable.. nahida case, well not many god fought her...bit she can't clean up after scarlet king

So many mysteries. What of the Memory Dust weapon which was made by Guizhong and apparantly given to him in her dying moments. There's something sealed inside and Zhongli never was able to unlock it. He turned it into his burst tho lol. And what of Ningguang's vision which was originally a dead one that somehow got revived. hmmm

Bro the shippers are annoying af. Guili shippers are annoying when they said Guizhong is Zhongli's lover (though the unreleased Glaze Lily book is implying so). But the newly emerged Pinggui shippers are on a new level. I see them trashtalking guili because they get attention from the cutscene and saying that Guizhong didn't like Zhongli, like... bruh... we literally have the whole Guili Assembly lore talking about Zhongli and Guizhong led a country together and name the place after their names. I swear they only appear because Guizhong is paired with another girl not a man. Not even one day passed and shippers already ruin my enjoyment of her character

I'm assuming Madam Ping's old lady form is just some form of disguise. So it's possible they will actually make her young form playable, along with Cloud Retainer's human form.

There is literally nothing deconfirming the Morax/Guizhong pairing in this cutscene. It doesn’t focus on Morax at all and we only see a bit of him with Guizhong

This event only says that Ping and Cloud Retainer saw Rex and Guizhong as friends. If they were in love, he does seem like the type who would want to keep it a secret. It doesn’t change her last words or the fact that their theme is called Lovers’ Oath. *You can’t take away the only canon ship in this game* 🥲

Lmao NOBODY inside the game hinted that there was romance between guizhong x rex lapis since it was even stated before they were friends and she was the brain. Its only non canon fan ship (Like amber x eula, xiao x venti, ningguang x beidou, traveler x ayaka, jean x diluc etc.) They are all only friends ( more or less xiao and venti are just aquintances). So stupid that its now pointed out as fact while you got bashed by the fandom for years by Just saying that

Ningguang, whose constellation also resembles the mechanicus ballista Guizhong made, especially also a genius who designed/invented the floating palace and the improved mechanicus ballistas floating palace ver2.0 during the fight with Oceanus' wife.

1:37 - This is fitting with the Jade Sword's flavor text. When Ghuizhong died, "black dust chocked the heavens and mountain splintered". And Rex Lapis called the Yakshas to avoid the miasma staining the air, but also allowing Ghuizhong's passing more peacefully.

This story might be based on an ancient Chinese tale "知音(Zhiyin)". Boya and Ziqi were close friends. Boya played his qin, and Ziqi always knew what Boya wanted to express through his sound. After Ziqi died, Boya broke his qin and said "Now, no one is enough to listen to my music." It is similar to how Ping stopped playing music because of Guizhong's death.

1:28 even though rex lapis is facing backwards, i can already imagine him having a straight face but crying deep inside in that moment. It must be really painful to him to see his best friend died.

three other things you may not have noticed: guizhong and zhongli have matching hair clips. Guizhong's is on the side of her head, while zhonglis is holding up his rat tail (?). Guizhong and Ping are implied to parallel/reflect on venti and xiao, seeing as the endless suffering came out just before that cutscene. it's also said that venti visited an adeptus abode (assumably xiao) and ping asked tubby to create the mondstadt mansion for him. Considering the story regarding them and Dvorak, it's very likely that this was supposed to reflect on how history is repeating itself, hinting to another venti and xiao death flag. also xiao is now presumed to be older than venti due to the seal cutscene. and lastly, the fact that zhongli has no lines in the cutscene at all. its about Guizhong's relationships, yet only cloud Retainer and ping speak about it. Its meant to once again represent his erosion and loss of loved one's, as he watches it go by again without saying a word.

So far, from what we knows, each region(faction) have more than one god in the past. In Mondstadt, they have Andrius and Barbatos. In Liyue, they have Morax, Marchosias and Haagentus. In Inazuma, they have Ei and Makoto. In Sumeru they have Rukhadevata, Scarlet King and goddess of flower.

The story still feel its missing a lot. I believe their story doesnt end there yet. We still have to witness the birth of Liyue and the creation of Guili Assembly and most importantly, how Guizhong died... In the lore said that Zhongli and Guizhong were alone at her final moments. One of the most popular theory is Guizhong was corrupted by black alchemy (Art of Khemia or probably something else that she wasnt supposed to see). Zhongli and Guizhong killing each other and the rest is history. The cutscene turned her into a petrified rock but in MoD description, Guizhong turned into finest dust. I believe there is something more that Cloud Retainer, Streetward Rambler and other adepti didnt know and Zhongli is probably the only one who knew the truth. Archon War is a very mysterious event and anything could go wrong given that the Heavenly Principles and Celestia arent trustworthy.

Man this is why i can't let go of genshin the story is so GOOD. Geez

i think yall are misunderstanding something: this doesnt mean that zhongli and guizhong werent as close as we thought, it just means she was also close to the adepti. this cutscene is shown by the perspective of cloud retainer only, theres more to it than this.
