0451 is a smart Easter egg because it represents how someone who had to think up a new 4 digit code and absentmindedly put in a real code they actually had to remember, then managed to style it out and convince everyone it was clever Easter egg.. they’re lucky they didn’t punch in their PIN number

This is a super dark one but in 2017's Prey, there's a body in one of the nicer offices who's implied to have shot himself, who's named "Cory Richard", a clear nod to the 1966 Simon and Garfunkel song, "Richard Cory". The song, for those not in the know, is about a wealthy factory owner who seems to have it all in the eyes of one of his envious workers until he commits suicide, the implication being that money does not buy happiness and should not be coveted. In turn, Cory Richard's apparently high rank in the station did not save him from the Typhon menace. *Edit* Okay, it was pointed out to me that I misremembered this scene a little (probably because as with most moments in Prey, I was too terrified something was about to attack me to look too closely), but the connection to the poem/song is still a bit too close to be pure coincidence. :-P

I like the ones that are references to earlier games in the same series. Like that note in Dragon Age Inquisition that simply says, "Enchantment? Enchantment!" Oh, Sandal. One day we'll find out what your deal is. Hopefully.

In Dragon Age 2 Verric may says his crossbow is Bianca because Mirabelle was taken, Mirabelle was another weapon in Jade Empre and Cole in Dragon Age Inquisition may mention a Glorious Strategist too

I love the Assassin's Creed easter egg on The Witcher 2, "they never learn." Sure made me laugh. Now I love Assassin's Creed, but there's no why I'm ever doing leap of faith into the hay cart or Geralt will find my body with the broken cart too

That must be for just the Dreamcast because I remember my PS1 and PS2 games would actually have the game soundtrack or some songs play when I played them in my CD player...wierd.

There was one mission in Destiny’s Taken King expansion with a few good references to Bungie’s previous creation, Halo. The mission, called Cayde’s Stash, involved the player climbing to the top of a derelict colony ship in the Cosmodrome in Old Russia. There is a secret room located in the rocket that Cayde-6 (voiced by Nathan Fillion) explains was a secret cache full of loot; however, all of the loot is gone, and only a single playing card remains. Cayde goes on to explain how he uses different playing cards to organize what each stash holds: clubs are for Crux/Lomar weapons, spades were for Hakke weapons, but hearts “were for this girl I knew.” This could be a reference to Veronica Dare from Halo: ODST, an ONI operative and love interest of ODST Edward Buck, who is modeled after and is also voiced by Nathan Fillion. Another reference comes from a hidden scannable cryogenic sleeping pod at the end of the mission. The player’s Ghost explains that this is Pod #10201, and holds “a Guardian of extraordinary Light”. The Ghost tried to wake him up before finding the player, but the Guardian “was asleep for centuries” and that “the last war was enough for a thousand lifetimes”. This, quite possibly, is a reference to Master Chief, who went into cryogenic sleep following the events of Halo 3, in which the Human-Covenant War was ended. Also, according to some sources, 10201 can be translated as October 2, 2001, when Halo: CE “went gold”, or was completed and ready for publishing.

If you time it right in GTA Online you can kill both Thelma and Louise before they go off the cliff, take the car for yourself and get a unique variant of the Tornado with a guitar on the back seat

The in-game achievment in Fallout New Vegas called Ne-ne-ne-ne-ne, for which you have to cripple a certain number of right arms with a shotgun. The odd name is a reference to the original Robocop film in which Alex Murphy loses part of his right arm to a villain who makes the "Ne-ne-ne-ne-ne" noise as he's lining up his shotgun before pulling the trigger. Now, while almost all of these achievements are pop-culture references, most are fairly self-explanatory like turning enemies into piles of ash is called "...and no disintegrations." but 'Ne-ne-ne-ne-ne' is by far the most cryptic of the bunch and took me _ages_ to figure out.

Zelda has a recurring puzzle answer "231" or "23 is number 1" from OoT. I know its brought back in SS's lanayru mining facility and I'm pretty sure some others too.

Never knew about the 0451 thing, it's like video game's version of Pixar's A113. DEFINETELY gonna try 0451 on every pad from now on :D

Man Skies of Arcadia is a great game! In my top 5 of all time easily. I wish they’d do something new with it

The main 3 characters from Skies of Arcadia also turned up as bonus characters after completing Valkyria Chronicles on PS3. I don’t think it’s as subtle as these other Easter eggs but I imagine a lot of people had no idea who these people were when they got to unlock them.

Prey uses 0451 as a password (to Morgan's office), but it also has a sci-fi tech in it called Looking Glass. Never made that connection until I saw this! Neat!

I noticed the little "easter egg" you slipped in to the 0451 part. Nice background music there. Med-sci? ;) I thought you'd conspicuously left one game out of your 451 list...

I feel like such a nerd. On the 0451 section, I recognized the music. Took me a minute, but it's from System Shock 2. One of my favorite FPS games ever.

451 also shows up again in Dishonored 2 where it can be used to open galvanis safe. You know, mentioning galvani, you should do a list of of screen characters that get screwed over by the player. Cause this galvani dude, in the first game you mess with his research, in the second loot hills small safe, and in the third, loot his safe yet again. Poor guy

When they got to the 0451 one, my first thought upon seeing the number was “is it a Fahrenheit 451 reference or something?” I didn’t know about the System Shock end of it, though, and I’d also somehow missed the commonality of it as security codes in video games lol

I always thought that it was so cute that Robin Williams named his daughter Zelda after the princess. I have a friend that managed to talk his wife into naming their daughter Alleria and she didn’t find out where it was from until after it popped it out. >.

Another subtle Easter egg that made me feel smart, was when I played the first Uncharted game. When you find the Strange Relic it bares a resemblance to the Precursor Orbs from Jak and Daxter, a game from Naughty Dog, developer of both the Uncharted and Jak series. I believe you may have already covered this in a previous easter egg video, but before that I felt so smart, because no one else I knew seemed to understand the reference at the time.

Secret track on Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on PS1. You hear Alucard talk about a secret track and it’s music from the game

I love the trivia that Jeff Kramer, the voice of Seaman, later gave voice to Francis York Morgan (and Zach) in “Deadly Premonition.”

This applies a little bit, I just want to talk about it. I THINK I found a reference to the show “Community” in Persona 5 Royal. In the third semester while in one of the mobile chat’s conversations, Joker has the option to ask Morgana to do something. Futaba responds that a cat doing errands sounds like an intriguing concept for a television comedy that could last for “three seasons and a movie.” Not as ambitious as “six seasons and a movie,” but it was so close that it made me laugh so hard. I was really surprised to see it in a JRPG.

Seaman's warning is hilarious 😂

Dreamcast isn't the only console with hidden audio tracks on its game discs. Symphony of the Night for Playstation had a message from Alucard telling the listener that "As you can see, this is a Playstation Black Disk" and warning against playing track 1, followed by a Remix of the Dracula's Castle theme which does not appear anywhere else ingame.

Skies of Arcadia is one of my favorite games ever. My friend and I found that easter egg on the way home from the mall when I put the game disc in his car's CD player. Good times.

No Zone Of the Enders and its subtle gundam eastereggs and MGS and its Zone Of the Enders Easter Eggs. Or the fact in Bravely Second the Enopu Mushroom's ability is the one up shroom from Mario and its description roasts Mario himself.

Absolutey wild to see Skies of Arcadia mentioned, I thought the world has forgotten this game exists. I really miss it and now with the release of the brilliant Trials of Mana, it is my number one pick for a remaster/remake.

K.K. Song can also be bought from the NookStop and played on music players. I recognized it because it plays in Jacob's house (as well as Barold, Billy, and Gaston in New Horizons, Peaches in City Folk and New Leaf, and Freckles and Wolfgang in Wild World through New Leaf). That is, if they have a music player, but Jacob's has gone missing on my island.

A good one I’ve never heard someone mention on the internet is that in Lego lord of the rings, there is a clearing in a forest with 3 large stone trolls. This is a reference to the hobbit where Gandalf defeats 3 trolls by exposing them to sunlight turning them into stone.

The bonfires in Dark souls may be inspired by the Witcher game from 2007. Here they were campfires that you used to meditate for regaining hp, allocating talents and doing some alchemy.

Just started playing Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. First safe code is 451. Weird timing all around.

The Thelma and Louise Tornado from GTAV is not only a sweet easter egg, but also a unique version of the Tornado with two acoustic guitars in the back seats and a bottle of tequila chilling on the center console.

Don't know how subtle it is, but in Hitman's Marrakech level, there's a challenge called "A room with a moose" which is a reference to an episode of Invader Zim

There's a subtle one in Mass Effect 3 in the Citadel. You get into a shootout on top of a lift which takes ages to get where it's going, so Shepard has to spend several minutes fighting in a lift shaft. It's a nice nod to the never ending elevator loading screens in Mass Effect. I don't know if that counts as an Easter egg, but I remember feeling clever for noticing it.

That car in the GTAV easter egg is actually garage-storable but its one of the hardest uniques to get - by virtue of first having to escape irate cops who really don't like you stealing their collar from them, and then having to drive back an unupgraded ratmobile in a public server occupied by OHKO griefers. Bit on the pointless side too as there's very little you can visually customize. Just grab it to occupy garage space. :3

In Baldur's Gate II, in the area around the circus in Athkatla, you can find a cage holding a moose and a squirrel. While mousing over them just names them as "moose" and "squirrel", they are a reference to the title characters from the TV show Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Idea for a vid: Worst escort missions in videogames. You know, the ones that the npc you have to escort is very slow, very annoying, gets stuck on things and may or not may be killed in the process!

I still haven't even seen Thelma & Louise, but I already know the ending. People love to talk, & remember Wayne's World 2

The Ys Trilogy video games for TG-16 had a similar warning when placed in an audio CD player. They would literally tell you to "Kiss your tweeters goodbye".

I can not remember the title of it, but there was a song in the 00s that started with the Dreamcast Hifi warning. The genre was Industrial, so it actually sounded as if your speakers were about to die.

Bonfires have popped up all over the place, I'm sure somebody somewhere has already done an exhaustive list on that fad. But to name two off the top of my head My Time at Portia and it was either Dishonored 2 or Dishonored Death of the Outsider.

in Mass Effect the word 'geth' is explained to mean servant. This is a reference to the word robot which is czech for 'serf/servant/slave' and was first used by Karel Capek in the play/novel RUR (Rossems Universal Robots, 1920) where a robot uprising is central to the story. This made me feel pretty smart :P.

I like to believe that Robbie’s name was also a Breath of the Wild nod to Robin Williams. Since we are using Satoru Iwata as a template for references, there’s a tribute character (Botrick), and there’s a tribute name (Satori, Lord of the Mountain).

What about Skies of Arcadia's Aika and Vyse included as units in Valkyria Chronicles?

Fun fact: Aika from Skies Of Arcadia was on Valkyria Chronicles and it subtle references to her being in Skies Of Arcadia

Yay I’m early! My favorite subtle Easter egg is that Oswald the magician from fallout 4’s full name is Oswald Oppenheimer which is a reference to the guy that worked on the Manhattan project and the guy that said the famous words “I am become death destroyer of worlds”

Shoutout to the PS1 version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night which also has hidden audio when you put it in a music player! Alucard says the warning, then he says you probably won't listen to him and then it plays a remixed Castlevania song.
