I don't know how old you are...I was born in 1988 and when I was a teen of course girls wore makeup but they didn't wear red carpet makeup every day like they do now. I just find it repulsive in a way. Women are more beautiful with mascara only and some blush or without any makeup than with something that we use to wear only like two times in our lives - prom and wedding..

I love to hear this from a young person! I was about 50 when I stopped wearing makeup. I'm 68 now and have my 30 year old daughter wanting to take me for botox and do makeup on me. My hairdresser daughter-in-law offers me haircuts and dyes. I've said no to them so many times. I'm more concerned about who I am and not what I look like. You go girl!
When your daughter wants to put do your makeup and your daughter-in-law wants to give you a haircut, those are expressions of love from them. It wouldn't hurt you, once in a while, to let your daughter put a little makeup on you before a breakfast or dinner out together, or let your daughter-in-law give you a trim. If it would make them happy, why not? You don't need to do it all the time.

Wear your own style. Besides staying biotic at 68 doesn't work very well, it looks funny on the face. The best botox is to be tried on mid to late 40s and then as you age it applies better. Supposedly, that's what I've been told. I am 45 and don't do botox. I would be very hurt if family or friends tried to get me to change my look

When I was young and married , I gave everything away and we traveled the western United States . So I packed a bag and gave everything else away . These decisions came when I was 18 . Now I am 70 . This thinking served me well . When you move or travel your stuff is staring at you , what do I need , the rest has to go .

I agree that the fashion industry makes women feel they need to follow a lot of meaningless rules. I only have eyeshadow, mascara and eyeliner/lipstick for special occasions. It all fits in one little bag, I have friends that have a whole suitcase of makeup! No judging, just different preferences. You're daughter is so cute! My little one is 8 months old, having a baby has helped me be more minimalist for sure.
Vika you are very mature and wise for your age. You are comfortable in your own skin...something most women are not. I am 67 and live in California in the United States and probably am just now getting comfortable with myself. We live in this society that doesn’t want to age and will do almost anything to avoid it. I don't wear makeup or jewelry or fashionable clothes. I do sometimes get my hair cut but at cheap hair cutting places. I also don't use beauty products or hair styling products. I don't even style my hair, I just brush it. It makes life so much simpler and cheaper. I love your channel and your family is adorable!
I love seeing women reject the beauty industry and live their best lives! I personally do a lot of beauty stuff but I don't go to salons or professionals...I'm more of a do it yourself girl lol On a side note: it just occurred to me that her house would be the worst house to rob 😂

Very few average Americans even use the word 'seldom'..I was impressed that you used it so perfectly, it sounds more 'proper' and it just sounded very natural when you said it. I wouldn't normally mention anything about it, but I have studied foreign language my whole life and know how difficult it is learn a second language..I know it's really hard work. :) Thank you for sharing your minimalist tips, it helped me feel more comfortable with making these choices even though sometimes they are looked down upon by other women.
I use makeup and nailpolish but I do everything myself (nails, eyebrows, haircuts...). I'm working on feeling comfortable without makeup. Its sad that I don't feel pretty enough even if my boyfriend likes me best without it. Its good to see more women like you feeling comfortable and pretty just the way they are

I completely agree with you! This video was so validating for me! Not only in secular society, but In my religion, there is a group of people who think that women need to do all of these things to be feminine, and it always made me feel so scrupulous like I was “bad” at being a woman or Christian, because I didn’t enjoy wasting the time, energy, or money on any of it! If God has made us the way we are, though nothing wrong with makeup or anything, but I’ve never understood why we feel we NEED to change anything to feel presentable. During the corona, I haven’t used any makeup. I also didn’t buy new clothes. Today, I think about my spending differently. Corona changed my mindset about what I really need and how I dress or beautify myself. I no longer feel the need to create an image of myself that is valid for others.

But to be honest you are so so so naturally beautiful, and what I really like about your appearance is that you don't have that generic look, full round lips slim nose, sharp chin, crazy enhanced cheekbones, but very simple, clean kinda face, if that makes sense (we kinda look alike :D). The nail thing is so true! A lot of people think women who do not do their nails is due financial problems. For example, I used to do my nails ALL the time! I used to go get a Russian manicure which costs about $80 depending on who you go to. I stopped when I realized I was spending way too much money on my nails! So I learned to do them myself 😅 I love this channel, you got a supporter over here 🙋♀️
I'm trying to become more of a minimalist over the last 4 months and beauty is one I've had the hardest time with as a 30 year old woman in America. I'm not big into makeup or clothes but skincare is my biggest problem I was using about 7 or 8 products a day including sunscreen spending probably $1,000 usd a year and my skin looked no different than my husband that only washes with warm water in shower in evening. So about 2 weeks ago I decided to only use face wash, sunscreen and a moisturizer and I'm so happy to have such a simple routine and to start saving money, time and space.
I personally do not spend money on nails, or someone making my brows or eyelashes and stuff. Nails go bad looking so quick and I am happy with the brows and I can easily shape them at home. I go to hairsalon to cut my hair and once went to beauty salon to get face treatment. Maybe in future I might go beauty treatment sometimes to treat myself, and hairsaloon twice a year, to keep my hair healthy. I have curly hair, so it can be harder to cut myself, and I love to just sit down and let someone else to take care of me.
Agree wholeheartedly. I am much older than you, but I am the same as you on every single point. I've done all that stuff in the past, but no longer do it, and haven't done all those things in several years. Good for you, figuring it all out at your young age!
I like that one of my daughters wears no makeup and the other sometimes wears makeup and she is happy both ways. I like makeup for me because it evens out my skin and defines my eyebrows and eyelashes.
I am in my sixties and had always done my nails myself having only gone to a nail salon maybe 4 times. I thought it needed to be done to look complete but actually it was only because others were doing it I do believe. Now I've not polished my finger or toe nails for the past couple of years! What a time and money saver for much more important things.

Wearing what YOU like instead of whats popular. Wearing simple hair style that doesn't require alot of fuss and trouble . Leaving makeup and nail polish behind because it DOES take alot of ttime and money. I wish I had figured it out when I was your age. My husband always liked the natural look. It's so good to hear and see. I hope a lot of people see this and understand that you are beautiful just the way you are. You have such a healthy perspective. And I don't mean to judge either. But girls, and boys too actually who are insecure and feel the pressure to look a certain way or do certain stuff to fit in. And you really don't want to do this, but feel like you HAVE TO... I hope you people see this. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. Be yourself. And if you feel pressured by friends and media.. don't listen to it. Your body or persona is yours. Don't listen to the media, and if you have friends you feel you have to do certain things for to fit in. Maybe choose different friends... or be strong and be yourself. I like the girly things but I have no patience to get them done, to sit there for a long time or even to do them myself, therefore I became a minimalist too.
You look beautiful without anything. Your face and eyebrows are symmetrical. Your teeth are very straight and nice. Your hair looks beautiful. There are many women in the USA that don’t do all of the beauty treatments. Yes they’re out there. My daughter doesn’t wear makeup or get her eyelashes or nails done. She wears comfortable shirts and that’s it.
Letting go of wearing a full face of make up feels sooo, so good! And it’s much better for your skin. Regarding your eyebrows, they’re amazing and the thickness and darkness is exactly what’s in fashion right now so you started doing it before it went mainstream 😊

I can relate to most of the things you do! I wear make up, for example, but the simplest one. Just some powder and that´s all. I don´t wear lipstick or eye shadows or mascara, I don´t do contouring (I wouldn´t know how to do it anyway, hehe) and all that stuff. And about the rest I can totally see why you don´t use those things. Jewelry, for instance. I wear small earrings and just a bracelet because my father gave it to me when I was 18. Heels: pain for free? no, thanks. Fashionable clothes: let´s go for the basics so you can use them more than one season. I even prefer sporty clothes, they are more comfy. I buy them in Decathlon, a big Sport Store with a good price-quality relation. So yeah, if all these means I´m a minimalist, let it be! :)
Like that you are so young and wise ! All also hate hairdressers, beauty saloons etc and always have. Used make up when I was a teenager, and put lipstick on when I started to work because everybody did and I felt it was sort of requested 😂

Thank you! My skin isn’t clear at all, it just somehow seems like it☺️ I struggle a lot with acne and pores since my teenage years. So I got even used to that. I’ve washed my hair with kiehls shampoo and conditioner for a couple month because my husband gifted them to me. But it seems like they don’t really suit my hair type so I need to find something better after I use them up🌼
Highly relatable! I don't do most of that either, though I found some aspects. I don't wear any makeup daily either, but I do have a single concealer stick that I sometimes use when I happen to have a spot on my face while going to give an interview due to work or similar. I think it give me a peace of mind, because I do look a lot younger than I am anyway and having spots would not help that impression (but I need people to take me seriously). I also have used nail polish a few times a year, like sometimes on my toenails in the summer. It's usually too much trouble on the fingers, but I kinda like it on toes, feels somehow happy and shiny. I haven't bought any cosmetics for very many years though, just have these still around from whenever.
It was so refreshing to hear you say you don’t wear make up or nail polish etc. Too many girls are layering their makeup, false eyelashes, plastic surgery to look more glamorous, and on and on. I like true beauty, and just being yourself. I wear makeup to work, but very light. I always have. But, of course, to each their own.
The fashion industry is the worst. I wish we could go back to every town having a shoe cobbler and dressmaker tailor etc so we could buy the fabrc ourselves and have it made to fit ourbodies and well made to last and also be able to be altered. Its soooo hard to find someone who makes clothes from scratch now and not for the price of a new suit! Ive resorted to infiltrating the local sewing circle of mostly old ladies 😂 (i'm an old soul) and seeing who would be good to ask to make my simple long dresses or teach me how to myself 😂😂😂 one day ill have a handmade fitted wardrobe! Get a larger sized on-sale/thrift item and have it tailored is cheaper but Etsy shops make dresses, reviewers mention some do custom orders. Sewed items for 4H and have witnessed all-home-sewn wardrobes; it is really tough to make shop quality oneself without looking 'homespun' so ask who is a pro & use hand-selected fabrics you love. Bought a quality 2-3 size larger sale suit once, tailored to fit & it was great all around. No longer feel alone in the desire, not for fashion but modest quality color/material fitted clothes. You are so refreshing! I, also, do not wear makeup, use nail polish, or go to the beauty salon, nor do I wear high heels. High heels are to painful, and I’m naturally tall. Wearing high heels puts me at 6’ or taller. I don’t use purses, either. I use my pockets, or a bag similar to yours. One thing I did do was buy jewelry made by local artists. I love earrings, but not big flashy ones. I have some sentimental necklaces that occasionally get worn. I always wear a watch. I’m not ruled by fashion, either. You earned a new sub. I have been enjoying your content.

Like you I gave up a lot of the "typical" female habits and I feel like I've gained back a lot of time in the day that way. Now if you told me in my late teens/early twenties that I was going to be so "natural" in my forties I would have never believed you. You are much wiser than I was. I moved to a rural area where i only saw a small number of people that lived in my town and I really became comfortable with myself and didnt feel like i had to do the most to feel "put together" then i moved back to the city and i felt like i had to keep up! so interesting how we compare ourselves
I'm very similar! No longer wear nail polish, don't go to salons, (trying) to cut my own hair (pandmc helps!), no designer bags, no jewellery except a few precious pieces! I love this video! :)
I only use make-up like two or three times a year, so almost never, I don't paint my fingernails, I never go to beauty salons, I cut my own hair or let my husband do it, I buy all my clothes from second hand stores. BUT I do buy and own a lot of books because they're my passion and give me joy every time I read them or even see them on shelves waiting for me to read them...:) Thus I would never call myself a minimalist, I just don't care about fashion and beauty standards and other stuff like that.

I do think many women actually look prettier without makeup or with just minimal makeup, but as you say--what makes you happy is most important. I think you are naturally lovely, anyway! For me, I do wear makeup about half the time. I feel pretty enough without it, certainly, but I enjoy painting my face, and I do think of it that way. It's art, it's expression, and I love playing with color and texture and trying different effects. It's also quite interesting how people respond differently to me depending on whether or not I wear makeup, and what look I try for.
I used to be just like you, always doing my nails and I would never leave the house without foundation and maybe mascara. Now I gave up on all of those things and I'm so happy like this.
