I'm 23 and pregnant with my first baby and I would just like to pop in and say thank you for being a positive voice surrounding motherhood and pregnancy. I meet so many moms who are foaming at the mouth to tell you how awful pregnancy is and how horrible and hard being a mom is and it's not only disheartening but extremely exhausting to hear, especially as a new mom and as someone who wanted to have kids and who was excited when I found out I was going to have a baby of my own. I know this is a long comment but I just wanted to say thank you for a great video and uplifting words. Motherhood is beautiful and it is rewarding and it should be said more often.

I agree! Everyone seems to have a horror story! I love motherhood so much. Expecting baby #6.

I particularly appreciate the emphasis and importance of having a balanced perspective. The message so often and so unfortunately projected to moms today is that we’re victims to motherhood, our husbands, and our children are burdens instead of blessings. This toxic cultural lie couldn’t be further from the truth. We need more mothers like this who encourage, who speak truth, and encourage others!

Just started my TWW. We have been trying for a few months now. Hoping and praying really hard that I will get pregnant this month!

Filmed this one before the move and just getting around to uploading now!! 😅so I'm currently 31 weeks, not 26! If you’ve been pregnant more than once, what’s something (if anything) you did differently the second, third, fourth etc time around? PS - if you’re currently expecting, drop your due date down below! ❤️

Im also 31 weeks and due October 3rd! I have Hypermesis gravidarum so if I can just get my prenatal in then thats a blessing. My youngest is almost 7. This time I’m buying the bare minimum and buying lots of secondhand items (nearly everything except crib/mattress and stroller/car seat)

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, but especially your last point! I'm currently pregnant with my first, and a lot of the social media content I'm seeing is so negative about pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. I understand it will be hard, but I think encouraging new parents and allowing them to see the GOOD in what's about to happen is so so important. You have a refreshing perspective on this!
@BethGraceMoore
@BethGraceMoore 2 года назад
So glad you resonated with that! I found it really hard in my first pregnancy to ignore all of that negative messaging just because I had no idea what to expect... in hindsight I wish I had read or heard more of the positive stories about how much people really do love all the elements of motherhood, even with the challenges! I hope I can be that for other women now 🥺

I'm due in 9 days with our first! I totally agree - we are seeing a trend in society where its cool to complain and talk about how hard/bad pregnancy and parenting are. Well I can't speak to parenting from personal experience yet, but God says it is a blessing, and who am I to tell Him his good gifts are not good? I pray that in those moments when I'm tempted to see parenting as a pain, that I will realize I'm in need of an attitude shift. As for pregnancy, yes it can be hard, but it is SO SO good! So grateful to have had this experience.

Postpartum depression is real. Some women don’t have any support and really do struggle. Don’t dismiss the experiences of others. I thought Christian’s weren’t meant to judge?

@@katie8325 Hi Katie, I'm glad you responded so I can clarify in case my point was not clearly made. I don't think acknowledging that parenthood is a gift negates the parts that are difficult. There is a huge difference between indulging in complaints and sitting in a "poor me" attitude, and genuinely struggling with the parts that are difficult - including PPD. As someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression for most of my life, I absolutely understand the difference. Proper therapy, medication, and above all surrendering my life to God have gotten me through. I am aware that pregnancy and the hormone changes that come with it may take me through a tough battle with PPD. Also, my sweet son was born on Thursday. I have been telling my husband every day, "wow. I truly don't know how single mothers do this." I have always respected mothers who mother without support, but that respect has grown x1000 now. Especially since I ended up having an emergency cesarean. I have NO idea how unsupported mothers care for their sweet little ones after a c-section. They are super heroes! These are genuinely hard circumstances, and they deserve to be talked about and talked through. There is a HUGE and clear difference between that and the prevalent attitude in our culture of mommy complaining. We can lovingly embrace struggling moms AND reject the principles of complaint culture. So I'm sorry if my comment wasn't clear - I was judging no one. You can't tell someone's heart by reading a short, quickly written RU-vid comment. Hopefully now you have a better understanding of mine.

I truly feel like I went backwards with all of this! With my first pregnancy, I had a lot going on with my health and my baby’s health not being the greatest, but I was just so happy and so excited to be pregnant that I never felt the need to complain. With my second pregnancy, things were much healthier but she was my biggest baby so I was uncomfortable and grumpy and complained a bit more than the first time. I also feared birth a lot given that it was hard for me the first time around. With my third and last pregnancy, I think I complained every day for the entire 8 months I was pregnant. My health really declined during my pregnancy (complications with my liver) and I had a lot more responsibility with my career and my two kids, that I was just wishing it away the entire time. I ended up having a preemie, but I very much welcomed the birth process because my second birth was such a positive experience, and I was very much done this season of life. I was able to trust that my body knew that my health was declining (pregnancy caused) and that my baby was no longer thriving inside and needed to come out despite only being 34 weeks. I had a very positive birth experience despite all the complications and I am so grateful to have finished this season of life with a positive birth experience to end such a difficult pregnancy!

Just had my second (a girl) in May, and I can say, I resonate with SO much of what you said. Especially researching more and being more intentional about my birth experience. It was SO worth it and deeply gratifying. Also, I was much more loose on dietary restrictions this time around, having researched the reality behind “forbidden foods of pregnancy.” Pretty much the only thing I completely abstained from was raw oysters. Everything else I had sparingly as long as I knew it was a quality source (sushi, deli meat, etc…)
@BethGraceMoore

Totalllly agree with this! Quality source is key 👏🏻 I have had my fair share of deli meat in this pregnancy as well hahaha

First time mom with a baby girl due September 8th (35 weeks tomorrow)! I have loved being pregnant. It’s been one of life’s greatest blessings and I’m excited to meet my little love! However feeling her movements and kicks is so special and I know I’ll miss it. Soaking in every second!

Hi Beth! 💛 I’m 15 weeks pregnant today (Yay!!!) with my first baby and I’ve watched just about every stinking one of your videos since finding out. We’re due January 26th and letting it be a surprise if we’re welcoming a little boy or girl! Thank you so much for your tips and, more than anything, your positive outlook on motherhood. I find the negativity so exhausting - especially when you’re having your first and just want to cherish the moment! Appreciate you and your content sm. Wishing you the best on the rest of your pregnancy!

I just had my baby on July 14th. He was born at 30+6 weeks. He had a really scary start but he turned a corner when he was 2 weeks old. We are so thankful! Blessings to you for a healthy rest of your pregnancy and a healthy birth.
