Just a couple comments. 1. From March-November, you must reserve your one-day Old Rag ticket. You can’t buy one at the trailhead. 2. The trails you covered are good, but usually very crowded during peak times. There are so many other trails that have waterfalls with numerous swimming holes; albeit they are more difficult hikes. 3. It is pronounced Front Royal, not Royale.😂 Thanks for sharing your visit.
It costs $30 to enter, unless you have an annual pass. Camping is usually $25 if you want to do frontcountry camping at a reserved site. Backcountry is free to camp wherever you find a spot.
Hello, I found your video very helpful. We just returned from a four-day weekend, and your video was spotted on many things-even the Dark Hollow Falls path by the waterfall!!! We did a couple of hiking trails, but the weather was very windy and cold, but we enjoyed it. I just wanted to thank you for your video information, and happy hiking to you :).
Thank you. I will be going there and follow the same path you took! It makes my job a lot easier!!! Thanks for narrowing the trails. There is the luray Caverns nearby as well.
We just started hiking. Done Mary's Rock. All of Hawksbill. Dark hollow falls Bearfence and just did Rose river loop. Stony man next. Woohoo. 🧗 we love it
I wouldn’t say insanely crowded. There’s plenty of parking at each hike and Skyline Drive isn’t too crowded. The campgrounds might be packed though, and the Old Rag parking is almost always filled up by 8-9 AM. Not a ridiculous question at all :)
Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately I had to stop because it was taking up more of my time and money than I could handle. With that said, I still encourage everyone go explore the outdoors as much as they can.
