This man needs more recognition... I've been watching this channel for around a year now and the quality of the videos is on point, they keep me engaged until the very end. They've also helped me to get into planespotting myself! I have no idea how he doesn't have at least 1m subs, as the quality of these is something I'd expect from someone much more well-known. Keep it up!

Very good Basics of Planespotting Fundamentals!! 👍 Obviously but hidden in these 'things you need' is 💲💲💲💲💲 and plenty of it. In general, photography is not cheap, even though and as you mentioned, one can still start with just their cellphone and free editing programs on your computer or operating system. This assumes your goal is to produce pictures / video equivalent to the 'onemoreweektogo' channel. 😁 However, sometimes its just plain 'Luck' that's needed. You just happen to be in the right place at the right time to capture that Iconic image or video clip. Which means you need to be out there ready to snap the shutter or hit that record button when the time comes. Glad to see the Intro back. Nice video. Cheers 🥂
@onemoreweektogo
@onemoreweektogo 3 года назад
Thank you! Unfortunately as with many things in life, some initial investment is required. However, I do think it's one of the better things you can throw your money at! You can also produce some very high quality content with relatively cheaper equipment. Much of my gear have been upgraded slowly over time! I also agree that a lot of photography is right time right place - I've certainly had a few of those moments myself! Glad you enjoyed the return of the intro :) I'll be keeping it moving forward.

Great video but you forgot the MFT System cameras like Panasonic lumix and om systems/Olympus cameras. I use Olympus OM-D EM1MKII with mzuiko ed 100-400mm f5-6.3 IS and the Olympus OM-D EM10MKII with mzuiko ed 14-150mm f/4-5.6 mkII for plane spotting. Also in my bagpack a spotting scope, aviation radio scanner, safety vest, ear protection in form of ear defenders/custom made earplugs, lens brush and rocket blower, micro fiber towel and a silicagel bag ment for cars to keep moisture at low level in the bagpack. Ofcourse taking food and drinks

Thank you very much for the video and it is super helpful. I need a suggestion from you. I have Nikon D750 and 200-500 mm heavy lens. When i roll the camera along with the plane, i get sweep action but not the smooth movement. How do i avoid this issue? I have pretty good heavy duty tripod, but may be due to the movement with my hands, i get shaky videos and i feel so upset when i see them on the big screen.

Excellent video! I just wanted to mention 2 things: 1. Flightradar24 does track some military aircraft. Not always but you can spot some here in the US. 2. I think I did not heard you recommending shooting in .raw format.

Thanks! Good to know about FlightRadar. I personally don't do much military spotting so I wasn't aware. I didn't mention RAW as I wasn't 100% sure all beginner cameras support it, but yes if your camera can shoot raw, definitely shoot raw!

hey i was thinking about getting a 400mm prime lens from canon to go with my 7d mk 2 for aviation photography but im having second thoughts do you think i should get a zoom or a prime for airshows?
@onemoreweektogo
@onemoreweektogo 10 месяцев назад
I personally think zooms are more versatile and also easier to carry around. The 400 prime is an awesome lens but it is a bit limiting in terms of the inability to zoom. I think having a zoom would allow you to get more variation of shots. Unless you can afford to get both a zoom and a prime, haha.

A radio is also useful. You can listen to the tower's conversations legally but you cannot talk to them. You can get info on the incoming planes and the planes that are going to take off. A radio such as the UV-5R is cheap and has a good sound quality for listening. By the way, talking on a radio has its consequences, you need a license unless you are talking on a license free frequency such as 446 for the UK. This is why you cannot talk to the tower because you do not have a license for that frequency.

I want to avoid bringing a ladder but are there cameras and/or lenses shoot through fence like it's not there?
@onemoreweektogo
@onemoreweektogo Год назад
Fence is always annoying no matter the camera/lens, but a few things you can consider to improve that experience: - Use a lens with a small diameter (usually crop lenses are better for this) so they fit within the fence holes. - put your lens as close as possible against the fence while shooting. - use the widest aperture (lowest f-stop number). This will help blur the fence vignette a bit and make it easier to work with in post.

is a 50-135mm lens good for plane spotting
@onemoreweektogo
@onemoreweektogo 2 года назад
It's a useful lens for spotting, especially if you can get closer to the planes. But for farther shots, you'll need something with a bit more zoom like a 300 or 400mm.

Is a 70 200 lens good enough? I have a nikon one?

It should be sufficient for some shots where you’re closer to the plane, but some farther shots you may struggle

So, I am 14 and I am really interested in plane spotting. I love aviation and photography and thought this would make a great hobby. Because I am probably younger than the average plane spotter, with a lower budget, I was wondering, what do you think would be the best camera for me? I have been looking at the Lumix DMC-FZ300, do you think this would be a good camera for a beginner on a budget? I really want a Sony RX 10 IV but I think it costs to much and it is too advanced for a young beginner like me. Suggestions? Thanks!

Hey Ryan! I think that's a perfect starter camera! It's a bridge camera so it's got a lot of built in zoom, equivalent to a range of 25mm-600mm. That's perfectly suited for plane-spotting. For the price, it is a very capable camera. That way you don't also need to spend on different lenses and have everything in one package! Go for it!

Hey, sorry for bothering you, I am curious why the Lumix DMC-FZ300 is more expensive than the Lumix DMC-FZ80 even though the FZ80 has a Longer zoom and what seems to be similar image quality to the FZ300. Thoughts?

Hey, I've got a Canon EOS Rebel T4i, and am getting into plane spotting. I already have an 18-135 that suits me okay for now, but will soon want to add a new lens to the family to make plane spotting easier. I want something on the cheaper end although I can afford a decent amount. What might you recommend?
@onemoreweektogo
@onemoreweektogo Год назад
A canon or sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 on your t4i would add a lot more range and give you a lot more possible shots. Those shouldn’t be too expensive. Take a look at some reviews for those lenses and see which one you like more.

@@onemoreweektogo I factually found a Canon 75-300 used at good price, but I'll look at reviews and put in a little consideration before I decide to but it. Hopefully I decide before Boxing Week sales end. Thanks for your help!

Hi ! Do you think a micro 4/3 camera is enough for plane spotting like the Lumix G80 ? Thanks
@docandersonshow
@docandersonshow 14 дней назад
Yes. Micro 4/3 are very capable cameras. They are more than enough for any kind of photography. And like ANY camera, it ultimately comes down to the skill of the photographer.

@@docandersonshow Thanks for your comment. I bought a G90 and I am very happy with it. Also bought a Leica 12-60 for tourism pictures and a used 45-200 for planespotting. It takes amazing pictures.
