Absolutely, @brianhartman7135! That's a powerful perspective. It's all about aligning our actions with our core values. I'm curious, how do you incorporate this idea into your daily routine or practice Stoicism in your life? 😊
After all, the only gift that we really have is called present time. It is this the best reason to act today and not until tomorrow which we don’t know if will be able to have 👌🌞👍🫡
Literally happened to me yesterday. Saw a bus load getting ready to learn to scuba. I always wanted to do that. Now, it's too late, health wise, or very unlikely. Let this be a reminder to you.
I loved the part where he said "Reflect upon potential challenges you might encounter. Visualize them not as hindrances but as necessary components of your journey handpicked by universe."
@sparklensuch2930 That's one of my favorite Stoic exercises too! The practice of premeditatio malorum (anticipating potential challenges) can be so empowering. Thanks for highlighting it and for watching! 🌟
I sometimes think of how horrific it would be if my daughter died. That is the ultimate challenge. Marcus Aurelius went through burying 8 or 9 children.
@@The_Ultimate_Ground_Of_Being This is what is happening to the children of Gaza now. Their families are burying them with their own hands. How sad this is
As a Philosophy Professor, this video is solid. The interpretation and execution of the interpretation is spot on, the level of respect for the teachings is palatable. There is no underlying personal agenda. LOVE what you're doing Stoic Bond.
it's great but just scratches the surface. it takes a lot of study and discipline to become truly stoic. for me, it takes constant vigilance. this video makes a good outline and gives people a place to start. it's spot on, but seek more.
shame that a univ professor are easily fooled by a content obviously made through AI like chatgpt. Stupid professors like you is the reason why students nowadays are daft and thick
Grew up alone and finally an adult now. Began my stoic journey without realizing it was stoic until i was 24. This is all to reach my higher self. And im here to love and enjoy this life until i reach my next journey. Its been an eye opening life and im glad i did not steer away.
Hey @nicholascher960, thank you for sharing your stoic journey with us! It's amazing how we can stumble upon something without even realizing it, but it ends up shaping our lives in the best way possible. 🙌 I'm glad the video resonated with you and your pursuit of your higher self. 🌟 It's definitely a journey worth taking and I'm sure you'll continue to grow and learn along the way.
That's fantastic to hear, @MotivaVistaMedia! 😃 It's great that you've tried incorporating Stoic practices into your routine and have noticed an effect. Stoicism can indeed have a positive impact on our daily lives. Is there a specific practice or routine you found particularly effective, and how did it affect you? Sharing your experience could inspire others to give it a try as well! 🌅
Thanks to all of you who posted. I really respect all and each one of them because it’s only what they perceive in their mind and I must respect all of them.
The stoic 7 morning practices 1 Reflect on Transient nature of Life and the moment - the constant change of nature. 2 Journal Daily - of your thoughts. 3 Set Daily Intentions NOT Goals. 4 Embrace Discomfort -. Discipline yourself daily - cold shower, less food, etc 5. Meditation and Mindfulness 6. Revisit Stoic teachings 7. Practice Amor Fati.
I'm an Iraq war veteran (2), and I've been carrying an extremely heavy load on my shoulders ever since my time in country (03-05). There is no amount of medication to equal these teachings. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
My family is Native American, and when service members return home, be it on leave or for good, they go through a series of ceremonies to heal within and without as well as get their headspace cleared up and aligned. The elders conducting these ceremonies talk gently to them, guiding them through meditations and encouraging them to release tensions and negative emotions/thoughts, and you'd be surprised how most Native traditional beliefs are basically stoic in principle. Some of our family have also brought non-Native fellow soldiers with them to get help they aren't getting in their own families or communities. They were welcomed as warriors and treated with honor and respect, and allowed to heal at their own pace. Incidentally, the Reflections of Marcus Aurelius is a favorite of one of those elders conducting the ceremonies, and he is himself a veteran. Stoicism used to be taught in military academies and according to my dad (USMC-Korea), was also a principle taught in the military at large as part of training. Personally, I think it needs to be taught to everyone beginning as soon as a child shows the ability to reason, certainly in school, and should continue throughout life. Society would no doubt be the better for it.
@vivalaresistance45 First and foremost, thank you for your service and sacrifice. It's both humbling and moving to hear that these teachings have brought you some solace and perspective. The weight you carry is unimaginable for many, and it's a testament to your strength that you continue to seek growth and understanding. May your journey ahead be filled with healing, self-discovery, and peace. Do you find there's a particular Stoic lesson or practice that resonates with you the most? 🌟
Please be good to yourself. There are thousands of us that appreciate what you have been through. Each day thank yourself for carrying on, because people like you give me and others the brace to go on.
The reason Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan vets have some many problems is because they feel guilty for not being on the right side of the war. They were invaders foot soldiers of the corporate elite and politicians. They flew thousands of miles to slaughter poor people that never did anything to the American people their only crime was snubbing the politicians and standing in the way of the American agenda. I don't think any of you will ever have peace of mind about your actions, and because those actions were ultimately motivated by greed and the lust for power I don't know if you deserve peace of mind. Your conscience is there to remind you not to do evil.
These videos are helping me profoundly in life and understanding the universe and knowledge and having a deeper understanding of myself and is making me question my values and knowing when to stay silent. Amor fati

That's a powerful quote and so true in many ways! 🌟 Gratitude has a transformative effect on our perspective, turning our focus from what we lack to what we possess. In the realm of Stoicism, gratitude is a reminder to appreciate the present moment and the simple blessings we often overlook. Do you have a personal practice or ritual centered around gratitude? How has it impacted your daily life? Thank you for sharing and sparking this discussion!
@@stoicbondWhat surprised me when I started factoring in gratitude to my daily life was even very small things can help lift your mood. Something like a good book or a nice cup of coffee or a kind word from a friend, when acknowledged instead of taken for granted, can really help change your perspective. It's very easy to fall into the trap of focusing on what we're missing in life, either what we've lost or never had in the first place. But the fact is that it is the nature of life to be incomplete. We can never have enough to completely satisfy us - it is a fruitless search for something forever out of reach or fleeting even if we briefly obtain it. If instead we can learn to appreciate the small gifts, the small moments, then we may find that the restless longing for more will be replaced by a simple peace of mind.
I've had two major brain surgeries that impacted the impulse control part of my brain. I cannot thank you enough for this content, stoicism along with therapy has helped me reclaim a vital part of my spirit. Heck, I've even managed to develop empathy for people who truly annoy the bejesus outta me-- hard to overstate how liberating that's been.
Thank you for choosing to add subtitles to the videos. Probably a native english speaker would enjoy the video and images without them, but they're really useful for people whose second language is english.
"The key to a fulfilled life is not in accumulating material possessions, but in nurturing meaningful relationships and experiences." - Marcus Aurelius
Thank you for presenting this information. Years ago through challenges and victory, I adopted a way of thinking that helped me. Do not get frustrated with today, it is here. Instead, focus on making plans and preparations for tomorrow.
Eric, that's a profound perspective. It's amazing how shifting our focus can make a significant difference in our approach to life's challenges. Thank you for sharing your personal insight. Do you find that applying this mindset in the morning sets a positive tone for the rest of your day? Would love to know how you integrate this into your daily routine! 💭
I really like the idea of setting an intention for the day instead of making a to do list to accomplish tasks. I’m going to set an intention on my to do list from now on.😊
@@paullamah5073it’s because understanding the biblical teaching is for the spiritual advanced person which see and understand all of these teaching hide in all those parables. No, they are there but one needs to really love God to be able to interpret those teachings as what the stoicism teachings. No, don’t take me wrong only intended to share my point of view and admit that I might be wrong to you but deeply inside I don’t think so
I completely understand how those two words can be demanding, but trust me, embracing discomfort can lead to personal growth and a stronger mindset. Keep pushing yourself!
I’m fresh out of prison, and I have had some good ass time to self reflect. The most important thing in life seems to be improving yourself constantly, and when you’re at a point you are comfortable, help those around you to improve themselves.
Unless you really work hard on yourself and getting ahead in life legally that freshness wears off real quick. It's easy to think about everything you will do when you can't do the things because your freedom has been taken away. Now the real hard work starts, good luck 👍
I just want to suggest something to you since you’re starting a new chapter in your life. Aim to grow daily, every day for the rest of your life. I am at the end of my life now and I still choose to grow daily, every day. Focusing on self growth is a far better pursuit then trying to help others grow. Consider that you might be wanting them to grow to make yourself feel better. Leave them to their own life lessons. Focus on your personal journey. I wish you the very best in your new life.
Thank you for tuning in and sharing that perspective, @IronKong-1_2-sb3df! That's an intriguing way to look at it. Instead of always pushing ourselves out, why not broaden the boundaries of what we're comfortable with? How do you personally work on expanding your comfort zone? It's always inspiring to hear different approaches! 🌟🔄
That definitely is a great perspective. I believe the reason most do not like exploring because they have been conditioned to believe that they are "losing our" or they have to "suffer" to be better. Phrasing the concept this way can potentially allow someone to shift in their thinking. I hope that made sense 💪🏾💜
Work as a fireman and a medic, we know full well how fragile life is, how close death is at all times, not sure how much it makes you appreciate life but we know full well how fast it can all be over and it knows no age. That is a good video to make you think, i like the “Amor Fati” that to me is a great concept to embrace
Hey there @Jake-ky9ed! 🤗 Thank you for watching the video and sharing your perspective as a fireman and medic. It's incredible how your line of work constantly reminds you of the fragility of life. 🚒💉 I'm curious, do you have any specific stoic practices or routines that help you cope with this reality? 🤔 Keep embracing Amor Fati! 🔥⛑️
I've tried all the 7 principles and it took me about an hour. I don't have the time to incorporate all of them to my everyday routine but I'll try one for each day of the week
That sounds like a great plan, @pedroc.4868! Incorporating one Stoic principle into your daily routine each day of the week can be a practical way to gradually integrate Stoic wisdom into your life. It's all about finding what works best for you and adapting these practices to your schedule. Which of the seven principles do you plan to start with, and how do you think it will impact your day-to-day life? 😊
Some of the salient points in this video were describing things I learned to do without ever knowing it was referring directly to stoicism…I’ve been through some awful shit and rebuilt my life multiple times now and it never gets easier but through these practices I’ve been able to come out the other side mentally stronger concurrent with increased physical pain and mental strain…I’m happy and functioning well because of some of the things in this video and now I will use it to get even stronger now that I can dive deeper onto the heart of stoicism…I am already stoic and pragmatic in general but only now do I realize it’s ancient wisdom I never knew I was already using to live better…only wish I knew these things 25 years ago…brilliant video!
@mollypinto4666 That's a beautifully Stoic sentiment! @@stoicbond Oh yes, plenty :D But to name a couple would be having to adapt in a strange new environment at the age of 22. New language, style of living, food, culture and a absent husband for most part as he was a Captain of a cargo ship. Then my first born son, an amazing soul, but who got himself tangled up with the wrong crowd and drugs. At the cost of sounding vain, I had to single handedly drag him out of it while also taking care of his younger siblings and in-laws. Hey @misteeruiz6902! So glad to hear that the video was helpful for you! 😊 Stoicism can definitely be a great tool for maintaining sanity in our daily lives. 🧘♂️ What other stoic practices do you incorporate into your routine? Would love to hear your thoughts! Keep up the stoic mindset! 💪
Remember when you struggle or fall: how well you fit into a society that has sickened is no true measure of your own health. Set an example for yourself, and be the example to others. One step at a time, endure and thrive.
@jecsquire9508 Your words radiate wisdom and resilience. Thank you for that powerful reminder, Jec. @@stoicbond Thank you for your kind words: if I had to pick one to stand apart, I think it would be "This too shall pass" because it allows one to endure suffering, and it reminds one not to become lost in indulgence or pleasure. Life is variety, and we will all suffer, and we will all laugh. After both are past, we still remain. If from aurelius specifically then "the quality of one's life is dictated by the quality of one's thoughts"

I set daily intentions for myself everyday and I revisit the rules of stoicism and the laws of karma every morning. I remind myself before! I walk out the door everyday that I'm going into a world that I will find for the most part unpleasant and to handle things with dignity and grace.
@sonjavanderwalt5417 Sonja, that quote truly captures the Stoic sentiment about accepting the inevitabilities of life and facing them with grace and courage. Embracing such profound truths can be incredibly liberating. How do you interpret this in your daily life? Do you have any Stoic practices that help you embrace this perspective? Very powerful. I walked away from a toxic situation where the man I was with had me in many 3rd party unions. You're very welcome, @umdeva24! 😊 It's wonderful to see that you've taken away some key Stoic practices from the video. Gratitude, reflection, intention-setting, and embracing discomfort are all powerful tools for personal growth. Intimating the esoteric confluence of positive and absolute samadhi, this video functions as a series of articulate 'road-signs' which point directly at one's present capacity for mindfulness and the immediacy of one's broader 'at homeness' in this world as a lucid quality, of being immersed and fully engaged in Life. The advice offered on this channel addresses various attributes of enlightnment. One's vast conscous rapport with 'things as they are' and the sponteneity of wisdom is, within the Stoic model, appreciably advanced.
I’ve been adept at these practices with others, but have struggled to do so with my wife. I am dedicated to changing my ways thanks to these videos! I’m extremely grateful!
Absolutely, @FRANKLIN-nu6wo! Stoicism is indeed a powerful tool for soulful improvement and personal growth. Your enthusiasm and openness to improving one's soul through Stoicism is commendable, Franklin! The journey of self-improvement, especially through such a profound philosophy, can be transformative. It's a journey of both understanding and application. Please share your experiences and insights as you delve deeper into Stoicism. It will surely benefit and inspire many in this community. 🌟

@@stoicbond yes definitely.. quite a few in-fact, but mostly the need to have self control and understanding of how to deal with people in relationships and how to maintain dignified and a show of strength, grace. @@stoicbond just the overall mindfulness of being present and grateful. The notion of intentional discomfort did resonate with me though. A silly example but I imagined the times where I got caught in the rain and got soaked to the bone but the relished in the feeling of new clothes and a hot shower. Thank you for your offerings! Great channel. I just returned to The Stoics teachings this past year. I devoured them in college, but I was just too young and immature to practice with them. I knew in my heart that these GREAT minds would be a guide one day. I would utilize the wisdoms sitting with a therapist and my own writing. The older I get (52) the more I lean into The Stoics... finding a calm balance in this chaotic world. Aurelius and Seneca are a balm that heals. The "work" is pretty simple. I've never stuck to watching/listening to Stoic videos until this one. It resonates an insight to principles we very much need reminding. So many of us walk blindly in life fearing the impending present that we call future. Acceptance of all things in our lives is something I've finally discovered and adopted recently. Im positive all beliefs revolve around love, peace and your higher self. @@peskylogicchillinsky6007Futube The way of the Stoics and of the Buddhists should ultimately lead to the One True God. There are 3 steps one must follow. 1. Thank you for this. I find #4 (and Amor Fati) the most difficult. As someone who lives in discomfort or pain just about every day and, on bad days, difficulty even functioning and going to work, I find that this is one aspect that I must focus on. I've just recently found your youtube channel and I look forward to continuing to watch and practice through your videos.
I agree with you on this . I had mold exposure and it took me out of work . I developed an allergy disorder that affects my day to day at work ( sometimes I want to die ) however I’ve come along way , I’m still extremely ambitious (work full time and starting up a business on the side ) and I’m doing more than some people that are 100% healthy . It's truly remarkable how such a simple practice can lead to profound realizations and moments of gratitude. 📔✨ Do you have a specific Stoic quote or idea that you often reflect upon during your journaling sessions? It's always enlightening to hear what resonates most with viewers like you! 💭🌅
@@stoicbond My morning pages are mostly a conscious stream of thought. I try not stopping, or pausing to reflect. I use the pages to purge, and to create a space where there are no rules of engagement except for what I mentioned above. Also, the last rule is no sharing with others what I’ve written. I reflect on Stoic, Daoist, Buddhist, and Sikh teachings throughout my day. Great channel, I subbed yesterday. An excellent service to humanity. Wish you all the success.
"Synchronicities and other marvelous and mysterious occurrences have resulted. There's a MAGIC in this process." That comment alone has encouraged me to start journaling again, starting today. Beautiful responses, and I thank you.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words! 🌟 Which habit resonated most with you? Let's delve deeper into the conversation. Thanks for being a part of this community! 🙏
I enjoyed that. Thank you. I once got written up at a job because my "stoicism and quiet concentration bothered another employee" 😂 !!! This was just before the world went soft and woke. Someone complained that i never get upset and it made this lady uncomfortable and she couldn't get her work done". I asked how " was that my problem ? I am in charge of my emotions, not hers." I feel redeemed. Thank you If everyone learned to master their emotions, what a wonderful world this would be !!!
Thank you I began using this video(?) as a means of stretching and the beginning of what you say it’s been helpful in calming me down to meditate or just breathing exercises Thank you Keeping Me still isn’t easy Namaste 🙏
Hey @bikkikhanna, thanks for tuning in! Indeed, "Amor Fati" is a profound Stoic principle. How do you incorporate this love of fate into your daily routine? 🌅📜🤔
We live in a country called India where nothing really works at a normal level, so there are daily challenges and limitations to deal with..one can either become present to 'what is' or follow the mind's complaints and resistances. Amor Fati is one such tool which provides a deeper understanding to life and hence creates acceptance to all there is. Taking it a step further is then loving one's fate and all that falls into that basket that life provides you to with...The totality of life brings everything into one's plate, it is upto the individual to create the most appropriate response towards it 🙏🏻🙏🏻@@stoicbond
@bikkikhanna - Your perspective is truly inspiring. 🙏 Adapting to the ever-present challenges and embracing them is the very essence of "Amor Fati". It's incredible to hear how you've applied this principle amidst the unique challenges in India. Your approach to acceptance and loving one's fate is something we can all learn from. How do you find the strength and clarity to remain centered and focused amidst daily adversities? 🌍🌟🤔
Its been a long learning process - first from my Spiritual Guru, then the great masters and thinkers that have lived through time and finally from life which keeps teaching and inspiring ...unless one consciously listens, comprehends and finally practices, all learning would eventually be deemed ineffective...we live and learn; we learn and live..Om 🙏🏻🙏🏻@@stoicbond
