SCRIPT: Number one thing not to do the day you have anesthesia is no drinking General anesthesia causes a loss of consciousness. Your brain reflexes are suppressed. There is still some lingering effect on the medicine. The question is when can you have it if you have a habit of drinking? That's a topic for a different video if you're interested in that do leave in the comments below. Number two - your reflexes may be slower so absolutely no driving on the day you have general anesthesia. Number three do not sign any important documents on the day of anesthesia because your judgment may be a little clouded. You don't want to make any wrong decisions that you're going to repent after. Number four, no operating heavy machinery. You don't want to go outside, mow the lawn, pull anything heavy, you don't want to do anything that might have the risk of hurting you. Number five do not drink or eat any medicines without checking with your doctor. There are many medicines that may actually interact with the anesthesia, so you want to be careful about it. Do check with your anesthesia doctor on all the prescription and non-prescription medications you take before having any of these medicines on the day of anesthesia. Number six do not stay alone in the house. In case you need any help due to the nature of anesthesia or the nature of surgery you've had you may want to have an extra person with you at least on the day of anesthesia. Make sure you have a family member or a friend or anyone you can trust who can stay with you and then take care of you and finally number seven watch what you're going to eat from your lunch or dinner. Don't go have a buffet. Keep it light. Eat more carbohydrates assuming that is allowed for you. I hope you enjoyed this video along with the tour of my house as i'm walking and recording this. Any questions do post in the comments below i'll try to get to you as soon as possible. Interested in watching more anesthesia related videos do check this playlist above I’ve also left them in the description below. Take care, stay safe I will talk to you soon.
