Thanks for being so transparent. You are an inspiration. I love your teacher content and life updates. Teacher burnouts are so true. In all honesty, most people doesn't see all the work that teachers put in and like to critique them in their classroom management skills. I enjoy all your videos on your channel and will be looking forward to all you do.
I agree about finding your people. Develop a strong relationship with colleagues you click with, but also can collaborate with and grow and learn from. Having teammates you work with is important, but those outside of your grade level can be a great help as well.
Hi Jacqueline! I love watching your videos. I've been a fan since 2019 and came across your channel when you were setting up your 1st classroom. Your voice is so calming and clear!
This past year as a student teacher, my afternoon class was the total opposite of the first class. My mentor and I made so many excuses for their behavior, but it was exhausting. When I had to teach the PM class I had little control and tried different techniques with them, but it seemed like nothing helped. I'm just praying my classes this year (especially as a 1st year teacher) will be easy going.
Love this video! Question: I have my degree in Psychology...I don't have the time or money to earn my masters so I can become a therapist for kids like I originally planned. Would me going into education be worth it? I'm so torn on what I should do!!
Maybe use the money you would use to get a degree in education and instead use it to bet your masters. School psychologists/counselors are so important.
My degree is in Psychology and I became a teacher. Depending on what you want to do in the educational field, you can become a teacher without having a degree in education depending on the state you are in. Good luck with your decision!
Thank you so much everyone ❤️ I'll definitely look more into my options. Kids are so in need of guidance and anyway I can impact them I'd be grateful for. Thank you all again!
I’ve tried the clip chart strategy with school bucks and the treasure box and that worked so well my first 2 years but it was a fail this year. I had many students dealing with anger so it just wasn’t a great tool to use at all. I’ve also done team points and that was great my first year and encouraged positive group collaborations but bc of Covid we couldn’t sit kids in groups so that was kind of out the window these past two years. And then class vs teacher points was okay (it worked great my first year but not this year), and class bingo was eh. I just had a really tough crowd this year tbh. But any of these could work and are worth trying. I’ve never done class dojo or class pets before but I hear those work great too.
