I've lovingly produced subtitles for you! Did you know that you can have your name displayed under the video if you contribute subtitle translations here?: goo.gl/rY3LLa Use code RUN5 & SIGN UP TO THE LINGODA LANGUAGE MARATHON and get a 100% (€567) refund HERE: bit.ly/2GyqPWl
This a good idea for us to take part in to this helpful video, It's good though, but needless to say, I'm quite a bit scared of contributing subtitle translation, I might disorganise the subtitles up there.
Practice, practice and again practice is the fastest way to improve your pronunciation, reading out loud and train your tongue and lips for new sounds and create as many neuron connections to Broca Area which is responsible for speech. Presenting is not my forte, but my job requires it so i should keep it improving Good tips by the way . Thanks a lot ;)
Hi Lucy, I've started watching your channel to improve my hearing skills, and soon I'll be taking an IELTS Exam and got back here to pick up some "bits and bobs" for my vocabulary and such, you're amazing and I love listening to your classes while working, thank you x
I think these are ones of the most important tips I have heard about presentations, I love of all them specially the one "sorry for my English" and the "overdressed". Thank your so much
Lucy you’re indeed the best teacher! I had to deliver a speech on the topic- Laughter and It was just coz of your tips that I’ve secured 2nd position! I used to Get nervous all the time when I had to present something but coz of your tips I presented my speech in a legit way and The most important thing was that I didn’t swayed as I used to do whilst presenting something! I’d like to thank ya so much for these tips Lucy! Thanks a ton!
Hi, Lucy. I am a college student from Taiwan. I always appreciate your videos. When I am lost on the way of learning English, I will watch your video to calm and relax.
Indeed ; tips on presentation of Speech by Lucy is pretty good & informative . I am an Educator of English ; here in PATNA _ BIHAR (INDIA) All of it is quite beneficial for the Learners of Effective Speech making . Thank you Lucy .Ciao !
Honestly, I'm not really a fan of the 'Sorry for my English' phrase(it immediately makes me go all grammar nazi mode XD). I found your suggested phrase much better. The thing that always irked me about the 'Sorry' phrase was, like you said, how unconfident and apologetic it made the person seem. Of course, I'm not saying that you should have Jane Austen level of English right away, but there's no harm in acknowledging and *embracing* the difficulties you face. And I find your suggested phrase to be doing both of those. Great video, btw ❤️
Oh, a new video! Thank you Lucy, and thank you for all your videos. I’m going to London next week, I’ve learnt a lot because of you, thank you so so much xoxo ❤️
I had an example of this "sorry" type situation when I was giving a presentation to pass my course as part of my assignment in Spanish: I am aware that I am not fluent in Spanish, please keeep focused on what I am going to transmit. I will make it clear, if you don't understand please ask me"
I have learnt English by watching movies on Fox channel w/ my first language subtitles. Whenever I ran across into any interesting passage, I wrote it in A4 papers and go over and over until I learn them off by heart . This helps for the daily talking . Furthermore, Studying idioms helped alot. Incidentally, you've goint point there when you said about (sorry my English) as well as learning the accent. Thank you.
Hello! Lucy I'm from the remote hilly state of India. I'm a teacher of English language and I speak Garhwali, Hindi, Sanskrit and English. I love your videos and the way you present them. They assist me a lot on my way of teaching. Hope will bring something special for Indian viewers. Thanks
Based on your other videos, I think my grammar is pretty good. You are magnificent! Now I know how to give a proper speech (Honestly, I suck at socializing). Thank you so much!
Learnt and memorized presentation. Perfect, convincing comments. Watching your videos is always a good exercise for developing listening skills. Thanks Professor Lucy.
hi Lucy, I'm your fan. My name is Ivan from Jakarta, Indonesia. I totally agree with "English is not my first language", but sometimes our eastern culture told us to keep a low profile by saying "sorry for my English", I think in several occasion of presenting something, it will be considered to be arrogant for being confident. But from now on, I will use "English is not my first language and I will doing my best" thanks to you, I'm avoiding the word "try" here. Because if I said I try to do my best, it means I never done it before.
You are a great teacher Lucy! Useful tips indeed! My tongue sometimes 'can get in a twist' while giving presentation but didn't know how to say that. Thanks a lot!!!
I used to get stage fright when i did my presentation back then when i'm still a student, but one thing i can recommend is more than memorize your points, it would be better to understand and deliver the point based on your understanding, that way you can reach out to the audience. Plus don't forget to make eye contact ^^
From Tokyo!! Your video is always helpful Especially this one is more helpful for me at the moment cause I’ve got upcoming train teaching where I have to speak English in front of many students for 50 minutes long I’ll try to put your advice into practice Thank you !!
Instead of "Sorry for my English!", you can say "I'm not fluent but I'll try my best!" Of course if you're not fluent yet. I use this sentence a lot when I'm talking to someone from other countries or making some RU-vid videos in English. I did two videos in English for my channel and I loved! It's inspiring be able to send a message about the animal cause for the world. Thank you for the lovely classes! ❤
As an Italian what I wanted to lose was my strong Italian accent and I wanted that bc I love English so much and I wanted to have a British Accent. I achieved my goal and I’m so thankful for it and so thankful to you for helping me out with it and in this video you explained to me what I’ve unconsciously been doing since day one. In fact when people tell me that my accent is good, I thank them but correct them. I don’t have an English accent, I have an English sound while speaking English. ❤️
This is so lovely Lucy! I teach these tips to my classes daily. Really comes down to relaxing and being natural. Great job! Thanks! Love and cheers! 👍💗😘🇬🇧
Lucy am so grateful you make this videos they help me a lot at school(am a high school student) and this video will defiantly help me look confident and elegant while presenting a presentation. I hope you make many more videos to improve our presenting style and pronunciation
thank you so much for creating this video. i will be in college in a few months and the course that i will be taking will require lots of presentations and this one really helped me a lot. i will make sure to keep your tips in mind 😊💕
THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP is to find a girlfriend/boyfriend from the country in which that language is spoken. If you have an important public speech, make sure your girlfriend/boyfriend is in the first row so you can read from her/his lips. It would even better if your girlfriend/boyfriend is behind you so she/he can whisper to you.
Hi Lucy !! I've never commented any videos before, but I always watch them and I literally LOVE the way you teach english! Today I'd like to say to you a sincere THANK YOU , because of you I've been able to learn english in only 4 months ( I started in february, when my english level was very elementary ), and 2 days ago i've passed an interview to work in USA !!! Studying english only with your videos !!! It seems unbelievable, I'm leaving on November 5th. Without your lessons i wouldn't been able to do it. THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!
Hi Lucy, thank you so much for these tips, I hope I'm gonna be more confident now speaking to people. Usually when I have to make a speach I start with ^Sorry, my english isn't perfect^ but I'll try to stop saying that. By the way I love the way you say 'Twitter' it's so satisfying 😂😍
