When you try to cancel they'll dick you around and never pay you! Loved it for a bit but when I tried to cancel (within their guidelines) they just transfer you and transfer you.. 3 months later I'm still waiting for my money.
as someone who has to buy special 4 in 1 bar soap plus strong yet very low smell deodorant because I have a biologic issue that renders standard soap and deodorant 50 percent useless. yes. before I had those I had to shower at conventions 4 times a day. now just 2
Young people don't understand that the enemy waits for an opportunity to harm them. Sometimes they come home and sometimes they never come home again. I wish I could tell them to not ever run away.
I went to school in Tomball (just graduated last month) and she would often visit my high school to promote charities in her stormtrooper cosplay I remember a lot of fellow star wars fans would talk to her including me just geeking out about star wars, I miss her truly.
What wasn’t mentioned in Elizabeth’s story is that her husband got remarried just months later. Seems a little sus that it all happened right after he left and only close people knew she wouldn’t be going to work that day.
I thought I knew this story well as I've heard it many times on various channels. I did NOT know that... very interesting. And most definitely sways my opinion.
I just recovered from covid, I had the "lite" version, so for me it wasn't terrible. I hope that you, and the affected commentors recover swiftly. Take care❤️❤️❤️
You have helped me get to sleep for a long time now and I am forever grateful for this. I wish I was in a situation where I could afford to support you better. Thank you for your time and effort.
I love your Shudder advert, and had to laugh out loud and say, "I'm already disturbed by the sadness!" [Now I just need to learn how to "get down with the sickness." : )]
I’ve heard the story a lot of times about Elizabeth. I do not believe it was random. I believe someone hired someone to kill her. There is way too many clues pointing to that. No way it’s just random. Why would the case the place the night before? How would they know she’d be outside? How did they know where to park their truck? It’s too odd, and no way it was random. I honestly think it was the husband. Only because no one else knew about the garage sale or anything. But I guess he’s been helpful. But people can act. Sometimes better then the famous ones. So idk. But there is absolutely no way it was “random” someone had someone kill her. And I hope and pray they find out who. She did a lot of good. And it’s fucked up what happened to her. RIP beautiful. Rip everyone on this list that does horrible deaths.
Close family and friends knew of the yard sale. But that was it. No ads or posts or anything. And wasn’t the husband ruled out? I’m pretty sure he was verified to be at work but it’s been awhile since I watched the TC
Unfortunately there are alot of creeps that hang around comic cons. I've been fortunate enough to never have a traumatic experience at one. My trauma has happened through other parts of the entertainment industry..But i have heard many stories of creepy dudes grabbing or harassing female cosplayers. Much like any other form of entertainment..creeps are everywhere and think they can say whatever gross thing they want or do whatever they want and get away with it. That narrative needs to change. And as far as other aspects of cosplaying..I have heard about those who are higher up in the cosplay world being nasty to lower level cosplayers when it comes to costumes. Apparently if you dont make your costume, you arent considered a real cosplayer. Much like anything else..It's very cliquey. Pretty sad how people have to put others down at an event where the prime goal is to have fun. Great stories nonetheless. And I hope they end up finding the suspects to the unsolved cases. People are sick.
Just wanted to drop a comment showing my mad appreciation. You & only a few others really help me sleep at night. Thank you for all your hard work narrating all these stories, one day I will submit a few of my old scary stories that happened in my past, one as a kid, and one as a late teen.
I’ve never been to a convention but hearing story 1 just breaks my heart. I know that this girl thankfully made it out of that situation and that it could’ve been a lot worse. But just imagine going to your first con as a birthday gift and this happening. Good for her that she is able to wear that cosplay again. Hopefully the AH got what he deserves when police caught him.
It seriously sucks that female cosplayers at cons have to deal with this when we’re all just trying to have a fun time! Some people really ruin it for the rest of us 😔
I remember when I first started playing finally fantasy and going to Comic-Con to cosplay as Misty… good memories.I thought them kupas or moogles I think they’re called? Those characters from final fantasy were so adorable!!!
I feel as though Alicia should have been able to make the decision for herself to go to comic con, but also have her parents support if she had a sensory overload. This isn't me blaming her parents for this, that dude online is definitely to blame.
My brother warned me about The Sadness. He watches A LOT of horror and he rarely gets phased, but he said he kinda looked away on a couple of scenes. So I haven’t watched it. I remember FF7 through FF9 on PlayStation when I was a kid. FF8 was actually the only one I couldn’t get into. I loved 7 and 9, but never played past the first disc of 8. Anyway, love the channel. I put a video on every night while going to sleep. It’s to the point now where I’m having trouble finding new stories, so now look forward to the new uploads.
Thank you for this i really needed this. After the night I've had i decided I'm done talking to people after what happened. I got called some really horrible things by someone who pretended to really care about me. Turns out that was a lie. I'm hurting so much i can't stop crying but this video is helping me not to think about it so i appritiate you joel for all that you do. Your voice is so comforting and i need that so much right now. I feel so alone i can't explain it. Anyways just wanted to say thank you.
Conventions are a lot of fun, I've been to a few. I love cosplaying. I am always careful. I always wear shorts under my skirts whenever I cosplay female characters. I haven't ever been harassed yet but I'm always aware of my surroundings. I always make sure I'm in a group of people cosplaying from what I'm cosplaying from and I'm close to my grandfather. If you cosplay any women, always be aware of your surroundings.
@@tablescissors It's not a huge problem, at least not in my experience but then again I'm always in a group with other cosplayers and I make sure I know where my grandfather is since he usually takes me. It's definitely something to be aware of that it could happen but it's not usually a super common issue. You might have a sweaty dude who wants a picture and gets too close but usually the extent of r*pe from what I've seen. Always have to be aware it could happen though. Again, this is just based on my personal experience.
I love how you change the subjects of your vids - can we please have another songs with creepy back stories tho they're my fav! There's got to be plenty of movie filming creepy stories - that would be awesome
I watched The Sadness about a month ago. Fantastic film. Gruesome and sickening, especially one scene in particular, which I am sure you know which one I am talking about. I definitely need to purchase it when its available to do so.
I was there for 2017 Phoenix Comicon gun incident, i didn't go to the panel but i was in the merchandise hall when it was happening, they had everyone evacuate the building but just had us all stand right outside for some reason....for the rest of the convention they were not allowing ANY weapons of any kind to come in, including fake ones, hammers, mallets, etc.
The last story is the scariest personally. I actually listen to these stories with my son as a learning tool for him to understand some of the craziness out there. Thanks for sharing!
Great topic!! Conventions can be a ton of fun - being around people who share the same fandom as you can feel great, and it's a nice place to meet-up with people you may have only met through the fandom (say, an MMORPG). But you have HUGE crowds (where you can easily get lost). There's a lot of lights and noise in some of them, and you are surrounded by thousands of strangers, some in costume. The costume for the most part is fantastic, but for people with nefarious intent, it can hide things. The layout of the convention center might be confusing. Some areas can be quite dark (for atmosphere). And that's not even getting INTO con-crud!! :P Also, a friend who had attended a completely different convention, hosted by a gaming company that she worked for (so she was there as part of work) said that some of the people who attended the ones she was at were just "really scary-looking." She mostly worked on some well-known first-person shooters. When I relayed my own (personal) positive experience at a convention where MMORPG was at the time, a main focus, she said "yeah, completely different audience!" I've been to several conventions, but have always gone with my roommate. Probably the scariest moment was when I thought I lost him in the crowd. Nothing BAD happened, but that was before cell-phones were as common as now. Sure, I had mine, but wasn't sure if my roommate had his. Luckily I found him not long after and my sense of relief was huge. Other bad things can happen at conventions. Look up "Blizzcon" and "Cosby Suite" to find out about organized exploitation of fans by people who produced some of the products that the convention was celebrating. I've been to a few of those, had a great time, and nothing bad (except temporarily getting lost from my roommate) happened, and in fact, was elated to meet a few of my guild mates from World of Warcraft, that I had only known in game, and they were really nice people. But I was saddened to hear that some women were exploited during those events, probably taking an event that they were so excited about and looking forward and making it a time of fear, shame and confusion.
Oh gosh I've seen The Sadness and I agree, please proceed with caution. All the crime and stories I heard didn't shield me from the barbarity of the movie. I still grimace and wanna wash my eyes (and brain) whenever I remember.
I missed the live stream and I'm assuming this is where this came from but I'm just reading the comments and I keep seeing everything about butter socks and with no context I find it hilarious 😂
We are the buttersock cult , which means as much as… we are members of Lets reads channel. He is our cult leader 🥰😉 It’s a ‘joke’ that started a long time ago and stuck. It’s not directly related to the last live stream. And will come back every times in the comments 😉😂🤣
I was there that day for the Phoenix comic con, they only have one prop checking booth. Which was way out of the way. They weren’t even checking badges that day.
I just used your code on Shudder, and I just started 'The Sadness '. Thank you, Joel! You're the absolute best. If only I could one day narrate a story with you. That would be tits on toast.🖤
I remember listening to the JDF story when it happened, I met him years ago in London and he was nothing but a Gentleman, I don't know why anybody would want to try and kill him 🤔🤔 but to end on a good note, Joel keep up your amazing work as always ❤️
White cat black cat here! Meow Meow!!! And can I just say how refreshing it is that even tho other scary story readers are showing there face I respect Joel for not. It gives more mystery and less lame "look at me, look at me!" Vibes. Thanks Joel for keeping your identity secret. I still say u sound brunette. Xo
The frist trial was thrown out due to evidence that that was not presented (he was found guilty). The 2ed one his mistress testified, and another 12 people found him guilty.
The comic Dylan Dog, episode Gli uccisori, or Murderers (1992) already covered the theme that’s the basis of The Sadness, so if you liked The Sadness you should give that episode of the comic a try. There’s another episode inspired by the original one published in 2015.
Possible idea - stories from the worst cities (crime) in America. Maybe the worst city in each state? Or ones that are notorious for being bad like Camden, NJ, Oakland, CA, etc. If there’s enough for that at least.
The comic book murder was an episode of Dateline. What did him in was that a witness had called the store at the time Mike killed her. Mike had answered the phone by habit.
I bet the incident with Alicia could have been presented if her parents took her to the convention themselves. I understand the parents reasoning for not doing so I'm autistic and my youngest child is autistic. But that doesn't stop us from trying to go out of a way to do something we've been dreaming about for a while. And when we really want something nothing's going to stop us. I don't blame the parents they don't understand things from that point of view and they were doing the best they could with what they didn't know. If you are a parent with kids like that try to take as many precautions as you can and take things slow while introducing them to these things they want to do that are normally outside of their comfort zone. I found the only anime convention I went to to be tons of fun despite the overstimulation
