Btw Thanksgiving is a statutory holiday in all provinces except Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. It is a big deal in the provinces that celebrate it. Families do travel and have big get togethers.
I think that the Canadian Thanksgiving Day is closer to the time of Fall, 1621, when the shared harvest feast happened in the Plymouth area of Massachusetts, because, it would've been still warm enough to celebrate & feast outdoors, as opposed to the end of November, when, it's really cold outside.
Most Black People in the US eat sweet potato pie. You better not bring a pumkin pie for Thanksgiving. My mom had sweet potato and pumkin one year and some family members were mad. I laughed.
Your idea of the Canadian Thanksgiving is way off,, Our family is both American and Canadian,, we live in Southern Ontario which is a lot more south than the northern states so its not in October bc of late harvest,, also in every province except the eastern (maritime) provinces it is a 3 day holiday weekend,, our dinners are the same in Canada as ours US Thanksgiving dinners,,, never heard of some of that other food were talking about about,,,, Canada's Thanksgiving (and Christmas) dinners are the same as the US,, also I've never had a butter tart in Canada for Thanksgiving dinner,, it's always pumpkin pie as well as a lot of others pies and goodies, which could include butter tarts but not traditionally,,,, Canadians do have black friday but it's the same day as the US and yes boxing day is another big shopping day. I don't were some Americans get all these weird things about Canada bc Canadians don't know wth your talking about either! 😂 There's not much difference between the culture of both countries but I do prefer living in Canada bc it's so beautiful, safe and clean,,, don't get me wrong I love the US!
I am thankful for my family all around the table and all the beautiful food we enjoy together but most of all I am grateful to be able to give to others less fortunate than me and my family. I love helping out when I can.
You do know that Canada is literally part of America, right? You do know that the United States doesn't make up all of America, right? America isn't a country. It's two continents (or one, depending on where you're from). Any country part of said continent(s) is part of America. You mean Canadian vs United States Thanksgiving.
The best way to differentiate the thanksgiving dates in the U.S. and Canada is simply put: Canadian thanksgiving happens before Halloween, American thanksgiving happens after.
