I STILL HAVE THIS RECORD ALBUM SINGLE !!!!! I wore the grooves out of it....was a huge favorite I remember hearing on the Los Angeles disco radio stations back in the day!!
I FOUND IT TODAY AT A FLEE MARKET FOR 1.50 dlls. Its 90% clean. First time i hear it in my life. I bought it cos of the tittle of the song, yet, aide B is awesome too. I feel like in 16 again! Lets all chant!
I loved this song!Especially because back in the day ,no one had heard it yet and the DJ wa God, and motioned me to the booth and whispered, " Will u please dance when I play the next song ?" I asked Why!? , and he leaned over the booth and said, " If you dance ,everyone will dance; and it won't bomb.." And it worked! I was 18 and it was 1979, and I now was 'officially' "All That " ! Great memory .WOW .
this song is one of the best remakes of an oldie but a goody. it always gets me on the dance floor. it is truly 1 of the best dance songs ever made. no other in my opnion comes close. a tribute 2 again spanish can always get u goin'
Truly a classic. I was not going to dance clubs yet, but I certainly played this record over and over again. I did not even know about Richie Valens version until many years later. This version really takes me back. I was just starting to identify as Latino back then and I really immersed into this with all its instrumentation. Thanks for sharing.
Love that break at 5:38 when you think it might be ending and then it slowly starts to build up again until that great fade away climax!!!! A classic!!!!
vince mazz Right!! Also, when the drums purposely sound “ sloppy “; like the drummer is tripping and we’re all along for the ride! Great tune from great time!
You are right Patrick. I was there on the dance floor when this song was playing at El Goya. A few years later, late 1980's, at Howard Avenue Station in Tampa, this was Claudia's, the drag queen favorite sing. She would always come out and do this song.
This jam reminds me of USA Rollerskating Rink in Queens & NYC clubs .... I use 2 have so much fun dancing this I love it... This is 4 my boy Chino125 & all my peeps.... Remember these days! I love it... we were teenagers hanging hard!!!!
I played the version of this song in my head, my mind and heart for years...and everyone around me who obviously played it around me couldnt remember it.....this was and has always been my favorite version of this song....hands down! I KNEW THIS SONG EXISTED....IT'S ONE OF MY ONLY HAPPY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES...singing and dancing to it....I LOVE THIS SONG SOOOOOOO MUCH...it's almost theraputic for my old soul....LOVE IT!!! NOTE TO SELF: (when i was five)
Pat Flores You are not alone. I remember hearing this in 1980 at the Hawaii County Fair and never was able what song it was or who did it. Bugged me for decades. So thankful to be able to hear it and remember much simpler times.
They always played this in the Blackwood Institute disco's .We used to hold tour fund raisers there for our rugby tours !!! Back in the late 70's early 80's the girls did most of the dancing but when this was on the lads went Ape !!!! Great disco got everyone moving :))
Agradable tema de fines de los setenta. ,Una canción antigua, modernizada para aquella época , muy discotequero, muy bailable , muy rítmica. En fin ,un excelente tema.
Labamba was dancing in a circle with hundreds of people and more inside the circle. The one's inside could kiss one of the people of the outer circle, who then was released to go dancing inside and pick somebody to kiss for them self ! That was the Labamba my friends ! A kiss and dance frenzy like never seen before ! Man we had a blast 39 years ago !
By far this is the best version of La Bamba, although I love them all. I have been searching for this version on RU-vid for quite a while. I have the vinyl that plays on 45 but is a large 33 disc size. Thanks for uploading this amazing version!!! There used to be a record store in Scarborough, Ontario on Eglinton Av W of Kennedy Rd. that would carry records like this and others that you would not find easily elsewhere.
I agree! In the early '80's I used to go to a gay disco bar in Cleveland and whenever this came on, if you weren't one of the first on the dance floor, you just didn't get on it. Talk about wall to wall dancing!
@ALVHUN I agree! I lived in Toronto too (west end). Bought the same disc in the seventies and danced in competition with this song (won a lot with it). Can't find it anywhere, not even on itunes either (just here). The BEST version ever!
Geweldig!
I’d been searching for this song for decades. I heard it for the first time at the county fair in 1979 on one of the rides and fell in love with it. Thank you for posting.
Hey, I've been coming to this site on and off for 30 years. I thought it was over 8 minutes long. Now it fades away before the actual end. What happened?
