787s and A350s are pretty birds but come on... seeing something like a 70 year old DC-4 in action is simply amazing... I wonder what a 70 year old 787 will look like :)
There's not going to be anything like a 70 year old 787, because back in the days of the DC-4, things were built to last. Now, all the electronics and LCD screens probably won't even make it a decade without maintenance.
This DC-4 was involved in a midair collision in 1980 while taking pictures two planes got to close to each other and this DC-4 cut the tail off the other plane with it's propellers, the DC-4 landed safely, but the other plane crashed killing the two pilots. The DC-4 got repaired and put back into service. In 2012 the DC-4 got damaged when the gear collapsed, no one was hurt, but the DC-4 was written off.
I’m a 71yo retired Corporate Pilot and I’ve flown into St.Maarten many times. I’ve even stood on the beach to watch aircraft takeoff & Land a couple of times. The approach & landing at Telluride, CO is a lot harder…..Very 😱 Scary
It is easy if you know what to look for. The DC-6 has square passenger windows (DC-4 Oval), top of vertical stabilizer is more square shaped (DC-4 Round) and DC-6 has square tipped propellers (DC-4 Round).
STOP ASKING THIs its annoying when trying to buy a dc4 and Ali get are awnser to dis question .please just stop your cluttering the internet. Just stop. Please.
@@wyattwilliams2457 The DC-4E/C-54E was not pressurized nor were any of the DC-4/C-54's. The distinguishing characteristic of the DC-4E & G models is that they have 8 wing fuel tanks whereas the earlier models (D and earlier) had 6 fuel tanks. I flew them for many years.
