So my local RC club - Kansas City Radio Control/KCRC had its Model Aviation Day/70th Anniversary 2-day flying event this last weekend. We had some competitive events, food and tons of fun but what was the coolest thing for me was I could fly at 700 feet up legally - we had a waver - and one of our turbine pilots brought out his Predator turbine -powered smoke jet. Because I haven't chased any planes with my quadcopter this year my quad batteries were not up to the task of chasing the Predator so I used my LR Reptile Dragon 2 flying on 4s power to capture video of the smoke jet. While not really fast enough to keep up with the flying smoke machine, it was fun as hell trying - way easier to chase a jet with a quadcopter than with a fixed wing - harder to stay out of the big birds way. But the ability to roll and follow with a fixed wing bird is an incredible experience and I'm gonna build a faster bird just for this(with stabilized head tracking). Hell yeah!
