I have news for you. The average consumer outside the USA wants economy and practicability. Nobody wants a sort of rallye car, except some hobbyists. Mitsubishi did not think that it is worth it. And they wanted to go for the environment, which is also very popular outside the USA.

That's not news to me at all, I understand the differences in market demands between different continents and I know that only a small niche market would be interested in a performance homologation-style variant. I never even mentioned the USA either... I just said it would be nice if there existed an enthusiast version inspired by this. With the Lancer Evolution being phased out, it leaves a void. I understand that its an economy car, but that doesn't mean it can't be made into something more special. It didn't stop Ford with the Fiesta ST, Peugeot with the 208 GTI, or VW's Polo GTI. I'm not trying to be realistic here, I'm just dreaming.

The fourth and fifth generation of the Mirage was impressive, both as a rally car (along with racecar) and road car. With a lot of aftermarket parts for it, it's not surprising that enthusiast start racing with their Mirages. The sixth generation (which is the current car) isn't so impressive as a road car. But as a racecar, it can be impressive...if the builder knows what he's doing.

@@ronaldderooij1774 I am in the US I bought a mirage G4 in February with over 21.000 miles on it already I like it for 10.700 its saved me so much money in gas..Its all we can afford sometimes I wished I could have acquired the CVT instead of manual because I drive a 10 speed semi around all day..For 10 or 11 thousand dollars its about the very cheapest cars you are going to be able to buy in the US market now.

What motor is in this? The R5 or some other sport motor?

It's custom made, you can't find it anywhere. 5th and 6th gen mirage doesn't have that many parts available
