Ski doo always had the high quality sleds. I got a new Polaris every year so it didn't matter to me how many years it would go fast just that the ride , in particular how they flew over jumps , was the critical factor for the sled i was on. sure being 1st across the lake was fun , but the woods is where the boys and men seperate. I'm from a small town and that town had a Polaris dealer so that also plays a factor in the buying process.

Thinking that Polaris is a 2001 1/2 or 2002 xc. So it has VES in edge chassis. 2000 was gen 2 non ves big block.

The SRX was the fastest 700 of that time period. It dominated stock class drag racing. Once the sleds are 22 years old, who knows what condition they are even in..

Put them on the glare ice. The SRX will show its long legs.

new out of the box back then in a drag they were pretty close, with some setup work the srx would be the winner, in 1000 foot radar runs the srx i a lot faster than the other 3. funny we had the same arguments 22 years ago. lol

The 2001 600 xc sp was a game changer the next year. Variable exhaust, etc. I bought one new. It made more than a few bigger sleds look pretty foolish. I traded the next year for a snowcheck Edge X with all the options. Still have it. That Era of sleds was such a fun time.

Could hear the MXZ definitely not pulling the rpm it should, could be a number of things there, but most likely RAVE issue or broken primary spring…interested to see how she stacks up all sorted. The XC definitely the most surprising, but at the same time not… that 700 big block #4# one of the best motors they ever made and that edge chassis just works for being modern long travel. Get a hold of a 2002 XC7 VES to really see what that motor can do. 2001/2002 was really the pinnacle for all manufacturers IMO. The SRX for sure would have the longest legs of all of em and definitely some room to improve there with more setup/rider skills and a longer run, but 660ft is definitely where the real world action’s @ The ZED! R with the ol Zuk 700 was the laziest of the bunch as expected, but still a super clean sled from the looks, wouldn’t pass that up either. Awesome video, very well done sir 👌🏻

I believe the Polaris is the real deal. I had xcsp 700 with clutch and jetted. Buddy had SRX 700 with a bender kit and all other kinds of go fast parts. He always said he was faster accept that never proved to be true when we lined up. That big twin just pulled like a freight train

THe fastest is the SRX. XC is close but just ain't there, the ZR LMFAO andthe MXZ was just plain ass slow.

The Polaris edge chassis sleds were hard to beat. IMO that was the pinnacle for Polaris. I had a 02 800 RMK and that thing was crazy fast in a drag race. I still ride but I switched to Ski-Doo last year. I'll probably never go back to Polaris, they just got too big and the Quality control has gone down considerably, sad to say.

Would have been interesting to have a 99 XCR 700 triple in your test. They were substantially faster than the 00 twin. In fact even the non power valve single piped 680 from the late 90’s was faster than any 700 twin.

Doing a 700 muscle sled shoot out you picked the wrong ski-doo. You should have went with the Mach 1 700 triple triple. That’s the muscle sled in 700’s.

Great video...from the mid 90's to about 2003-5 are the best looking sleds ever and these 700's and the top muscle sleds of that era like the T-cat 1000...Mach Z 800 and Polaris 900's are still the top speed Kings IMO...there wasn't much if anything made after 2005 that's worth looking at IMO every brand is FUGLY...I also agree nothing sounds as freaking awesome as the big triples...keep the videos coming.

Hey get your hands on the 2002 zrt 600 triple. Fastest 600 you'll ever get on. Here in Maine we called it the little brother of the Thundercats 1000

My 98 formula was clocked at 118 mph on a ice side road with half inch of snow. of coarse it was clocked by my buddies 800 mxz so i don't really know how fast. Ill tell you one thing my 1978 340 Kawasaki Invader was no slouch it read 98 mph and the speedo was far more accurate than other sleds. I had no problem with 500 cats snow twisters and Yamahas on the top end. By far my favorite sled and at 380 lbs was truly a rocket. I was in a race by accident running form the cops and passed every sled on the road and the crowd was standing for me coming across the lake passing the leaders and sleds broken down everywhere...did I mention i had a passenger. Ps it was the annual race in Fenlon Falls in 1979. PS i didn't stop for the trophy. It made this unmistakable wine past 75 mph and pulled like crazy

Them Polaris sleds are great, fast, and very reliable. I rode and fixed them for 10 years. I would stay away from the 800 tho.

The 94-95 zr 700 was a beast twin pipes from the factory they were very fast

ZEE!!! Not zed! But those Yamaha's are still probably the best sounding sled and ran with the 800's without a problem. And I put 1,000mi on an 01 MXZ700 and it was a fast sled. The SRX I had was faster, but the MXZ was quick.

Great fun video! Wasn’t surprised that xc 700 was fast. Back in the day my buddies piped and clutched xc700 would hang with my rocket 03 f7. He would still lose but it was close. Also love that srx!

That 2000 MXZ 700 is not actually the muscle sled of that era it was a snow cross sled,the muscle sleds SkiDoo made were the 2000 Mach 1 700 triple and the 2000 Mach Z 800 triple,I seen them SRX 700s beat the both Machs 700 and 800,SRX 700S are bad to the bone,but great video here anyway.

Drove em all and i can say they are all good and fast , just depending what kind of riding you wanna do. The polaris and ski doo in my opinion are better powder sleds , comparing them as if they are all 121 short tracks . The Arctic cat and yamahas are better for fast trail riding or lighter snow . Again thats my opinion and each rider will ride what suits them like usual

Good video i like ur concept but before u started shootout i was thinking about all sleds being up to snuff. RPM at least should be correct on all sleds before u do a shootout. Iv been riding for 30 years racing 17 years with great success. My father had a 97 XC 700 with head work and reads with dads clutching very fast . I was on a very fast 95 800 storm id beat his 700 on cold days but not warm. Both 120mph radar sleds I know people probably say im full of shit but i lived it i assure u lol!! But the Yamaha ski doo and Polaris were all very close. Whoever had better clutching jetting traction would be fast. The cat 700 was very fast in 2002 but outdated in 2000. Im cat guy now made switch in 03 got myself a firecat 700 sno pro. That was faster than my dads 800 rev or anything id race. Had a 04 also great sleds. Started my racing career on my 04 firecat. SX won a couple a couple podiums great for a trail sled. In 08 got my first new race sled had many after till 2017 had to retire from Pro Cross county racing. Had many championships on my cats very little broken parts or problems not enough to say so. Anyway good video great narrating well put together. The ZED thing is funny i call my 2010 Z1 turbo EXT turbo Zed after hearing Canadians calling them turbo Zeds hahahaha. Zeds dead baby hahahaha Good one. Keep it up Thanks Josh

Love your videos 👍 The performance of any snowmobile is based on how good the clutching is. Only way to truly test what brand was fastest is to have all four machines clutching completely rebuild. Then all four engines compression tests done to ensure each machine has factory compression specs in each cylinder etc. loved the video as always, cool to see old machines having fun again.

I ALWAYS Use Rubber Spark Plug Caps...learnt my lesson n had 5 mile walk to New Plug Cap lol....Real Cold Day n hard plastic plug cap broke clean off way out in trails...always soft rubber caps if u like the bumpy riding lol the fun stuff...great video

srx all day. if they are all properly set up and in good shape no comparison. clutches working good definitly a big deal. skidoo is crap. only sled that gave me a run on my yamaha's was a polaris 800 LE. that thing is a beast!

You have the weakest 700 Arcticcat. 117 Hp. The 1995 with the exhaust cleaned up and the exhaust port’s i could easily outrun any of those sleds. 3:06 I can tell you right now that the Yamaha will win. They came out of the crate Hot.

Absolutely NOTHING like the sound of the 3 cylinder 2-stroke engines!!! Well, guess the V6 2-stroke engines are even a bit more Nasty sounding since they're just 2, 3cyl engines running on the same crank!!

Who decides the colours at the factory? Ski-doo is yellow,Polaris and Yammy Hammer are white,and Cat is black.Sno cruiser is blue and ski whiz is red lol

Looks like the cat doesn't have any power valves I'm sure if it had them it would of been a stronger contender they make a huge difference on my zr900

I feel like the twins get off the corner, or out of hole better than the triples, but if there is enough real estate, the triples end up passing you. They sound magical too.

You can tell how old they are because the don't have long tracks or long cleats on the track. They're probably all short cleats in the US sleds. I would love to own a sled and have a place to use it, Ohio gets little snow and when we do it doesn't stay! the new stuff costs too much!

Mark your spark plugs , buy shim kits from thunder products , aim the electrode at the intake , even top fuel dragsters do it , they claim , 3 percent more hp , cleaner burn

One consistant driver per run with radar would be closer representation. You can hear one sled on and off throttle other sled sounds consistant for the whole pull.. different driver could be your difference.

My old man had the 2000 srx brand new in 99-00. They were the fastest sleds on the lake that year hands down. Not TCats, not ZRTs, not Mach Z, not any Polaris, nothing could touch them on radar right outta the box. 120 mph was what they ran stock.

My wife's 99 xc 700 pulls like a tractor. Flat spot off the line for about 25 feet or so, after that...... ton of torque for a bone stock 700

I’m disappointed that you called the Polaris a Ford, it’s definitely the Chevrolet all the way to the front of the bunch, the MXZ is obviously the Ford since there is something wrong with it, I wouldn’t be surprised if you found the problem circled and highlighted in blue.

Clean them power valve/rave on the skidoo. I cleaned mine on my 1999 skidoo 583 dlx and it helped it rev out and really seemed to run a lot better after I did that.

Interesting, I have an 02 mxz 700 and topped it out at 110mph.

Agreed all four sleds are good. But ski doo back then where really heavy for one. The cluthing needs adjusting. But the fact is that ski doo was really heavy back then. So weight to power was way off compaird to others

I had a 2000 yamaha sx500r. Top speed was 96 mph. Had an 06 skidoo mach 1000. Top speed was 106.. not a lot for 500 more cc on a big bore twin.. never fouled plugs on the Yamaha.. changed plugs every 50 miles on the mach lol

You need a mach 1 700 not a mxz. I have a xc and a zr 700 and neither of them even compare to the mach 1
