I noticed on eBay recently a Britannia class with running number 70050 named “Firth of Clyde” for sale as new with loco drive. I received it and it was a beautiful looking model but sadly had a fault insofar as the motor ran but the locomotive did not. Seller accepted the return without question. But, now that I had seen it and touched it, I wanted one! I spotted a “Lord Kitchener” running number 70043 on what appeared to be a Triang chassis so I assumed it had been renumbered but then noticed that the cab was of the later style and thus not an original Triang Britannia. I bought it and it had a few issues so I got a price reduction.
This video shows how I achieved a decent model of the 70050 “Firth of Clyde” and, to an extent, what it replaced.
