I actually find Kevin to be disturbing on so many levels. Its not even his blood fascination. Its the fact that hes like an evil mixture of a pushy boss, an overly happy sun-worshipping somesuch, and that person who used to bully you as a child but now acts too friendly as an adult... Kevin is not to be trusted desert outworld.

My friend and I came up with a theory that you're either a desert bluffs person or a nightvale person. When I first heard that desert bluffs episode I really loved it and really enjoyed the change, (I still prefer Cecil's nightvale, obviously), whereas my friend listened to it she was like 'God no.' She couldn't stand it. I wonder why our reactions were so different; our personalities are the same (enfp), etc. Anyone else a Desert bluffs person?

At the beginning of this episode I was angry that Kevin was trying to steal Carlos from Cecil, but then I became sad when Carlos started saying something confusing that can be interepretated as him wanting to break up with Cecil. The fact that a letter made by a human can make a psychopathic monster cry is depressing.

3:25 This is where I IMMEDIATELY became suspicious. From what I know, Kevin originally referred to Carlos as "hideous" or something along those lines. He's just kissing up to Carlos to gain his trust, for whatever reason. This can't end well...

So, I think the letter Carlos wrote was for Kevin, rather than Cecil, especially after what happened in episode 70B. I don't think he forgot the letter on Kevin's desk, he was "hand delivering" it to *Kevin* That's probably why the letter made him so sad...

Based on Carlos "forgetting" the letter in Kevin's booth, and Kevin's reaction at the end (even though he says he shouldn't read the letter, it's clear he's unable to resist the temptation and does end up reading it), I don't think Carlos is breaking up with Cecil, but with the Desert Otherworld (New Desert Bluffs? Desert Bluffs.2?). Throughout the whole episode I got the impression that we were being lured to believe that Carlos doesn't feel that 'spark' with Cecil anymore but it feels like a red herring to me.

Ok some parts of this sound flirty but Kevin literally sounds like a happy infatuated teen girl no matter what. And he didn't step over any boundries more than anyone with a crush would (reminder he is trapped in an endless desert with almost no humans at all of course hes lonely) Also. Everyone's obsessed with Carlos (possibly) breaking up with Cecil (which is sad to be fair) but is no one else wierded out by the fact that desert bluffs is inside nightvale and was built by nightvalians and will become the desert bluffs in the future which will travel across the desert to take over nightvale? is nightvale doomed to be taken over and destroyed by the smiling god for ever because even after defeating it they end up making the civilisation that causes it all in the first place. interesting stuff!

Dudes take off your ship glasses and try to pick up the subtle cues the authors are giving you. And stop threatening Kevin. Of course he would be interested in Carlos's research. For one it might help him get home. But most of all it's the only news he has!!! Also it's pretty weird to threaten a guy who has been tortured, brainwashed and forced to do horrible things by a 'smiling God'. The dude deep down is very much like Cecil so hating is like hating Cecil. Basically he's a version of Cecil who lost. Plus like have more confidence in your ship!!

I always feel sooo bad for Kevin. He used to be just like Cecil, but he's had some absolutely horrible things happen to him. I get why people don't like him: he's a naturally unlikable character. But at the same time, he is a character, and that means there are aspects of his personality that we as listeners have to evaluate. We need to come to our own conclusions, not just jump off of what we're told.

I know people keep complaining about Kevin (which chill guys, pretty sure Carlos is not interested in Kevin but I digress) but it was nice to actually listen to Carlos talk, like how he really would talk. I was getting annoyed only ever hearing him gush about science(but not saying anything in particular and here he actually talked about evidence and experiments) a compliment to Cecil and thats it, which is nice too dont get me wrong.I never did quite warm up to his voice. This episode made him feel more real, what he does with his life, a separate identity from Cecil. Overall fantastic episode especially that ending wow.

Oh man, this could mean so many things! But I think this is Carlos regretting the hurt their separation has caused Cecil, and knowing how much Cecil loves his job and his town, how much it would hurt for him to move. I think he has chosen Cecil, though he's built a life and friendships- including Kevin- he has decided to go home to Cecil. Also, I love Kevin, Kevin needs a big hug. Poor, sweet, misunderstood, Kevin.

That end was actually really heartbreaking. Kevin (and probably all desert bluffs citizens) has been so indoctrinated into his city's beliefs that he ignores his own emotions in the interest of productivity. The resurgence of sadness distresses him so much; it not only ruins the productivity he values so much, but he's just not used to emotions in general

What if the desert otherworld is actually the very distant past of Night Vale? It would explain why Night Vale had a radio station long before radio was even invented. (The mountain on the other hand though would be harder to explain.)

Sorry for the necro-comment, but it's implied that the desert otherworld was an alternate (or rather, the true) Night Vale that was destroyed in some sort of cataclysm as detailed by Cecil in the episode [Best of?]. The Night Vale we know is the alternate timeline where this cataclysm did not happen, thanks to a certain time traveler. The portal between the two timelines is the dog park.

I used to hate Kevin but now I can't. The way he genuinely sounded heartbroken at the end, especially with how happy he always sounds, was actually really sad. Being Cecil's double, maybe he's jealous of the fact that the one he thinks is inferior to himself found someone who he loves and who loves him, because Kevin doesn't have that. I'm incredibly bad at hating characters.

(SPOILERS listen to part b before reading this) when i first heard carlos say the phrase "no more distractions" it made me feel absolutely terrible because i thought he was talking about cecil. BUT !! turns out he was talking about the desert otherworld and his studies and things of the like and that is so awesome!!! i think the moment he decided to leave the dog park is when he realized that he shouldn't put his passion for science in front of everything else. i fucking love this podcast so much **carlos voice** so that's some but not all of the emotions that i had

You're not alone. I absolutely ADORE Kevin. I love that thinly veiled passive aggressiveness, that can-do attitude and cheerful disposition, but mostly I love when his carefully crafted mask breaks a little and we get to see a bit of true emotion slip out. I support Cecilios 6386.72%, but I'd be lying if I said my heart didn't break a little at the end of part A here. Still not sure that Kevin wasn't just using Carlos, however they were together in the Desert Otherworld for a year. Maybe by the end Kevin really had grown genuinely attached? All I know is that I am so indescribably happy to hear Kevin's voice again.

Why would anyone wish improvement for Kevin? It's being such a perfect, non repentant psychopath that makes him such a good character. No one wants to see him improve. He's the exact right mix of creepy, menacing, happy and pleasant. Also, he has a perfect taste for interior design.
