My friend owns High Grade Coins warned me not to submit a coin to PCGS because they are under grading coins as much as 5 points on the grading scale! He is a 5 star coin shop in business since the early70s! He dropped PCGS entirely and is sending his submissions entirely to NGC! I will be doing the same!!!! !!!!!!

I have currently four 1909 vdb Lincoln cents how ever one is so damaged it's really not anything of interest. Two are normal circulation brown and the fourth is what I question on the vdb it doesn't look right I think it might be counterfeit possibly. I might send all three out to be verified as to being actually real on the third one.

i think with technology these days the coins should be graded by a computer scanner instead of a person with personal issues or is hungry or had a fight with their spouse that day!

Your analysis is 100% in line with my first-hand experiences, fairly limited though they may be. I've noticed that the MS66 "safety net" grade on a 1957-P, for example, is listed in the price guide as $135, but in reality they sell for $20-$50! 1954 is a much better bet. At least sell for around $100 if (when) you miss your mark.

One of our LCS got a run of original Mint Sets & Proof Sets from 1950-1963, quite a few of the proof coins came back 66, , 67, 67*, & 68! Mint State mostly MS-65, & 66.

There is No standard to grading. Research pcgs, they tell you that themselves.

If the guy that won first place in a grading contest had trouble getting the graders to agree with the coins he sent in I don’t stand a snowball ish chance in hell lol you’ve warned us for years playing the grading game is an extremely tough row to hoe but we are all seduced by the prospect of finding that hidden gem lol. I aways look at the pcgs photo grade of a top pop if it’s available to compare my coins to and sometimes I think it looks better but who knows what will happen when it hits the graders.. thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼

I am truly surprised that instead of collecting the absolute highest graded set of Lincolns it would be much more popular to grade a whole set at ms65 RED or even a set at ms 63 to ms64 red brown. Face it, most times you need a strong magnifier to tell the difference with the naked eye betweem a 65 RED ooin and anything higher!

I have a whole BU roll that looks really, REALLY good. The money required to grade them all is a pretty hefty sum, but after seeing the MMR this week, I think it's time I get them to PCGS - ASAP! I always get a grade lower than what I'm aiming for, but MS66 still sells for a good chunk. 🤘🤘
