Sweet truck damn...I'm starting a 68 GMC SWB soon, so far I have a No Limit engineering chassis pak went 4-6 static drop and a full floater Moser 9" rear end..Looking for an LS3 now.. I wanna go fast..
Awesome video. Have a question. I want to do work like you guys in the future and I’d love to build custom cars. Is it better to go to school for collision repair with basic knowledge of auto? Or to stick to auto school and just pick up learning body repair on the side?
Thanks for watching and for your comment. Do you enjoy the mechanical side or paint and body more? Not many do both well, although these people do exist. Bottom line, custom cars can be such a pain that you're going to have to spend a lot of time getting the car gapped and laser straight, and a lot of time getting the many mechanical systems (which are probably composed of tons of aftermarket parts) to function correctly. You're not going to want to spend that time if you don't enjoy what you're doing and appreciate the outcome of your work. Go to school for the thing you really care about, and learn enough to be dangerous with the other stuff. After you're out (and even before), there's no substitute for doing. Schools will teach you good theory, but the guys in our shop and out doing high-level work in the industry all have a ton of experience from just doing stuff on the side - working on their cars, their dad's cars, their buddy's cars, etc.. They know how to fix most of what they come across because they've seen the same problem before. Find someone you can give you some pointers every once in a while, and don't be afraid to dive in and get started with something. The community is awesome and very supportive, and the only people who will ever question your work have probably never done it before. Good luck!
