Gavin DeGraw visits the oncology floor at Children's Hospital Boston. My son was battling leukemia and had been at the hospital for 4 months when Gavin visited. Sadly, my son passed away on October 9, 2012, about 2 1/2 months after Gavin's visit. He never left the hospital. Thank you to Gavin and all the wonderful celebrities that made his last days as special as possible. Leukemia and Childhood Cancer is as cruel of a disease as anyone can imagine. More awareness needs to be brought to light so we can wipe Childhood Cancer out. Thank you Gavin for helping with exactly that. I love you Tucker and miss you every minute of the day. This video helped me stop using drugs. I was in a very dark place when I stumbled across it. Watching it, crying was one of the deepest spiritual experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve been clean for 2 years now. God is good. Thank you for helping me see beauty. I can’t thank you enough for what you did for me. Thank you Tucker and Gavin, and mom.

gavin said in an interview, he learned how to play because he thought that music is a great medicine. watching him play for a child with cancer makes my eyes tear up. he is my inspiration I learned to play guitar since I was a kid watching him. now I bought a piano and now learning how to play it.

I thought Tucker did an awesome job singing Yesterday...considering there was a room full of people, including Gavin DeGraw, watching and listening to his performance...I'm sure he was nervous, but he pulled it off...you should be very proud of him...

I'm so sorry to read about your son. I'm also glad you shared this moment with us. It goes to show how precious life is and that we should live by moments and not blindly just getting by. As for Gavin, it's such a shame that artists like this aren't promoted on the radio much anymore. Not only is he more talented than most of what's played on "pop" radio, this proves that he's a great guy and makes music for all the right reasons. Such a shame.

I have the utmost respect for Gavin Degraw after seeing this interaction. I am amazed he got through this performance. I get a lump in my throat when I watch it. His selection of Golden Slumbers is particularly significant, considering he sang it to a terminally ill young man. The original context was different, but in this instance the concept of being lovingly lulled to sleep, going home, and being at peace was a metaphor for passing on. I am profoundly sorry about the loss of Tucker and thank you for sharing such a private and moving experience.

This, 💯 percent. The song choice by Gavin was more powerful than most probably appreciated in that moment. The lyrics were a beautifully delivered message to Tucker in his final weeks. I don't often get openly emotional, but this video (specifically the Golden Slumbers serenade) makes me cry every time I watch it. Condolences to the family, and Kudos to Gavin for the sentiment. Even before I read the description on your video, I started to get choked up watching your son singing the words to "Yesterday". And watching Gavin's face while looking at your son playing. I'm not big on 90%+ of his work being whiny-type love songs, but I'd be a complete idiot to say he's not one of the most talented musicians to ever come along. Nobody has a voice with as much soul and hurt as this guy. I'd like to see him team up with someone like John Mayer and fully put those pipes to work on some blues. How wonderful for you that you had this for your son, just happened upon this song for your son. I unfortunately lost a dear friend in an unfortunate tragedy and sang this song at his gravesite because he worshipped the Beatles; and this person was an Emmy award winner for his News casting. I am sure you miss Tucker like I miss my friend too. Thank you for the time down memory lane (tears are flowing as I write this)....:) Such a special post and yes I will repost for your son's sake!
