Amazing video John. What a breath of fresh air to hear you explain how this all works together and what to do to fix this common problem. Love your in depth and thorough method and style. Thumbs up 👍👍
Glad i saw this.. i'm doing my trans right now and that endplay was worrying me a bit.. My trans is a '62 that had zero endplay when i took it apart and i am swapping to a 24spline input shaft which felt sloppy.. gonna take it apart and check this and make sure i didn't switch pistons by accident. P.S. Bought a billet reverse/low piston from another company, that was a mistake.. :( The directions make no sense at all.. and i have no faith in the part now.. lesson learned.
Glad I watched this, this morning i thought mine seamed like a lot of play, i ended up having .054 with .785 pump, looks like I'll need to add to my order lol.
Thanks for the videos John. I've been a machinist for 29 years so you know where my mind is going! If I want a billet spring and have the large piston or want a new billet piston can I throw these bad boys in my lathe to get the clearance I need, have you ever done this? Thanks
Great tech as always. Quick clarification question? What forward drum clutch clearance do you recommend? At 25:50, I thought I heard 0.020-0.030", then at 26:25 you mentioned 0.030"-0.040". Thanks!
What if the early spring and the 374 piston give an acceptable clearance? Is it ok to use that way? I have one on the bench now that had .035” with the 212 piston but with the 374 it seems to be perfect. Thanks for the tech!
