In the last video I started this bike up for the first time, and now I completely disassembled it down to the frame! Makes sense right? Well, the whole bike needs to be restored and the best way to do that is to first tear it down. Comment down below what you think I should fix up first on this bike!

good for you dude. Sometimes you gotta roll the dice into the direction of something scary and unknown before you can grow and see any meaningful results in life. I don't know shit about filmmaking/editing or anything, but If your really set on this youtube shit full time, I think you gotta put out way more than 1 video a week of the content everyone wants to see. I think it will be really hard to see any significant growth from 1 video a week. It's your bread and butter content that will keep people tuned in and coming back for more.

Definately strip the old paint off the frame, check for cracks on the welds and repaint. They had a gloss finish originally. For all the aluminium parts like the wheel hubs and brake drum backing plates and forks, buff with Solvol Autosol. They come up like silver ! Then give them a coat of clear laquer to retain the finish. A couple of points. Yes, the cable ties were original. The bike was designed so you could quickly get all the lights and instruments off to go racing or trail riding. There was just one multi point electrical connector for the whole shebang. The cable ties held the speedo and rev counter cables in position for you. The shocks were something a lot of people replaced. They weren't up to much. CR shocks were popular. The engine has been repainted at some time. They were brown anodised paint originally. Only CR models had black engines. It's probably too late but if you could source a CR top end and fit that, you'd get a vast increase in horsepower. You wouldn't need the oil reservoir anymore ( or the oil pump ) as the CR barrel didn't have an oil injection port. Run the bike on premix. Many people did that as the engine was sadly lacking in horsepower compared to other 250's of the time. All the CR parts just bolt on. One last thing. The original swing arm bushes were plastic. Yes.... plastic ! Replace them with bronze ones. Hope your channel is doing well.

I know this might sound out right wrong but sometimes a person has to reset. All your other bikes you have why not sell to fund projects that you would like to do. I restore bikes as a full time job and at one point I had just to many motorcycles on my plate so I sold all my projects and focused on one. These old bikes there parts are hard to find and sometimes are very expensive.

Best thing you can do to make sure you can do your own thing is to create multiple income streams... For example in addition to youtube look into selling instructional videos on the work you do on online teaching or independent platforms (since you're recording it anyway). Flipping the bikes you work on. Accepting viewer or customer bikes to work on, then they pay all the parts plus some labor and you have the content for the educational and youtube videos... Best of luck young man, I enjoy these projects.

If you repaint or fit any new parts you will need to do the whole bike otherwise it just won't look right. I would keep the old patina but replace things like bearings, seals, brake shoes etc and go through the engine to make sure it's OK.

I'd clean the frame, tank, forks etc but I think you should reassemble with the weathered and worn patina intact. It's a survivor and looks great as is!!! Anything you have to replace try to use OEM stuff where you can IF you can. She looks awesome. Just make her mechanically sound again then ride and repeat. My opinion. Good luck!!

I only like the bike builds/restorations. Why don't you buy cheap bikes that have working engines, gearboxes and electrics, then do them up and sell them? There are loads of cheap aftermarket parts you can use for smaller bikes, like shocks, dials, whatever. Scrambler style 125s will always sell (or they do in the UK anyway)
