john doe All the time man haha. The David Taylor comeback was the most stressful shit I’ve ever seen haha. Even when I watch it now I get nervous even though I know he wins haha.
@@ShabazzTBL big fan of both these guys, but Burroughs lost that match. there is no way that was exposure. Dake has been cheated in these matches so many times.
Michael Dunn Exposure is past 90 degrees. He was back on elbows or hands. That’s past 90 degrees. And not sure how anyone is arguing that it’s not exposure. Look at the situations where the wrestler gets cartwheeled. They will look at it and if there’s the slightest tilt they call it exposure so I don’t know how you can think that’s not.
The problem with wrestling is the officiating. They try to speed up the action but are constantly blowing their whistle to do it. They are slowing it down to try and speed it up. Just let them wrestle for God's sake !!!
I fuckin hate that they have to call passivity if nothing happens. Because there’s times when both people are working but neither scores and they just choose someone to call passivity on. It’s so annoying. That needs to be tweaked.
Well they blew the match with that sequence at the end of the match. Must have better performance by the refs, it's really the primary thing holding the sport back from gaining fans and establishing itself as a a legitimate alternative to boxing and MMA. For now, as long as these gaffs continue to happen, we will see wrestling pinned down to the amateur ranks...
Jon Bauer There was no mistake in the last sequence. Well I assume you’re talking about the second to last one. You can’t make a second move out of bounds to get a takedown. You can only continue the move you were already making. Watch the replay. He stops and Burroughs is way out of bounds then he lunges again to get to the other leg and hip. Not continuation. No takedown.
Fantastic series between two legends. I think Dake would have probably won if Burroughs had to wrestle through the tournament too, but it is what it is.
@@ShabazzTBL I'm not surprised. I'm not saying Dake's better, but in this series it seemed he was on route to win until he ran out of gas thanks to having wrestled more previously.
James Lundeen I felt like Burroughs looked a little sluggish himself. This was coming off that poor Olympic performance. I think he was just getting back into form. As I recall Dake had never even made it to the third match with Burroughs. Between Dake and Taylor I think the first match was the only time either of them ever beat him. He usually goes balls to the wall for these two. All Dake had to do was be aggressive. He took about 5 shots between the 3 matches. You just can’t do that against Burroughs. Being up three points is a lead you hold against him. He’s going to score. Their history should have told him that. And the thing is that Burroughs had to earn his shot just the same and now Dake gets to defend his own spot with a bye. Although with Finals X you wrestle on a separate day so it eliminates that complaint. Anyway I think in these matches Burroughs was as beatable as he was going to get and Dake well I was gonna say took his foot off the gas but he never really had it on there in the first place.
Las CoL A ton of people showed up to watch Burroughs wrestle because Ben Askren had a match against him coming up. Probably only stayed interested enough to watch that match.
So Dake is leading late into the second half of the second match and Burroughs pulls it out. Whether Burrough's deserved 4 points or 2 in that sequence, the idea that Dake having to wrestle the challenge tournament while Burroughs was fresh did not effect the outcome is a joke. This match was thatclose and fatigue becomes a factor. Kind of a sham.
Totally agree this automatic finals placement doesn't do our team any justice. I feel 74 and 86 were most affected by they way they ran it this year. A fresh Jordan and a Fresh cox vs David and Dake where they wrestled some tough matches
I disagree based on logic because Jordan Burroughs already beat him in the US Open finals where it was a different situation so mentioning the "challenge tournament" is irrelevant when Dake lost when there wasn't one (aka US Open).
The problem is that no one really thinks Burroughs beat him at the US Open. Dake outwrestled him (two pushouts to one) but the ref gifted the match to Burroughs. And that tainted result gave Burroughs the bye, which makes it more questionable. But what that match and the first match here showed is that on an equal or relatively equal footing, Dake easily holds his own. The bye killed all the credibility here.
rusty goldfinch his one point was definitely one point. You need confirmation from the table or side judge and that didn’t happen. Objectively, I saw it as one. With freestyle it could go either way but dake did not have control. Oh, and by the way, he DID get the two after the challenge. Burroughs getting the two and two is another situation that can go either way. It wasn’t the wrong call, just a freestyle call.
I love you Dake You are my favorite wrestler You are strong, flexible, resilient, full of breath, brave.I love you moral man. This message is from an Iranian fan of yours
These two are not even in the same league. Burroughs beat Dake 7 times consecutively. Dake studied tapes for 3 years trying to find a crack in the armor. Burroughs shattered his ankle running sprints in a strange gym due to covid. He missed the padding when pushing off the wall when he outran the space. He missed 14 weeks of intense training and Dake finally got past him to qualify for the Olympic team. Then Dake got teched 11-0 second round in Tokyo. All the truly great wrestlers have an Olympic gold medal. I think Dake peaked in 2013. He was awesome in folkstyle! He just never leveled up and made the transition. I blame Burroughs for blocking the poor guy for a decade. Dake should pay Burroughs and Cox for the wrestling lessons.
With the exception of maybe the stepout at the beginning of the round, that was officiated perfectly. The four points to Burroughs were well deserved, he had a confirmed takedown followed by exposure. The takedown reversed to pushout for Dake near the end was also correct, he did not initiate the move that secured the takedown until long after they were out of bounds, so there was no possibility for continuation.
Michael I don’t understand how anyone is saying that wasn’t exposure. Dake was back on his elbows. Unless he has some extremely long upper arms I think that exposure. Hell I’ve seen it called while I guy was up on his hands.
For the first time in the world except for real rich most of us are rowing the same boat it's going to be exciting when nor,mal comes back spring is coming like never before
Guys if you notice on that first push out from Kyle Dake, Jordan actually did push him out of bounds. If you look carefully, Kyle BARELY stepped out of bounds and notice the imprint from the shoe left on the blue part of the mat at 2:17.
I like how he says Dake stopped his shot because of world class defense in the beginning in the 2nd but the funny thing is that he was already going for the underhook and Burroughs just so happened to shot at the same time. Not that Dake doesn’t have good defense, that’s how he score most his points in the last match but just funny timing on that comment.
Burroughs is so much better than Dake the score doesn't even reflect it. Dake is a Cornell graduate. He has watched hours and hours of Burroughs' matches and trained just to beat him - and he STILL comes up short! Dake was lucky he didn't face anyone of Burroughs' caliber in college!
Well you should watch more matches of them both. Dake usually doesn’t do much at all. He’s super defensive and it’s actually boring to watch him wrestle pretty much anyone except Burroughs or David Taylor. Burroughs usually puts up a lot more points. He’s actually teched Dake multiple times I believe. At least once. A tech is when you get some many points more than the other people that they just stop the match. 10 point is the cut off.
Default Name Maybe. I’ll have to look up the rules but i would think so. Although in some circumstances the whole foot or both have to be out. May be this is one of them.
that's retarded, in folkstyle it would only be considered 2, but hey jordan burroughs needs all the help he can get, official always sucking up to this dirty asshole, glad the russians spanked him.
john wall haha, awesome response. I wrestled in HS and coach now. Was just confused by your comment, why be upset about the rules if you know what they are?
The call where they said Jordan turned Dake was insane! Maybe I’m blind but I didn’t see any significant exposure of Dake’s back unless ever so slightly. What a ripoff! I don’t like the challenge rules either. I think it basically gives the other guy a head start. I don’t think you see that anywhere else in any other sport. I think if they get rid of it we would see a lot more of these so called tough wrestlers losing. Who cares what they did a few weeks or months ago.
You realize he was moving his hand off his head after they had blew the whistle right? So that motion you’re pointing out has nothing to do with them stopping it haha.
wonder which at 7:00 the 4 points is scored for? anyone teach me, please. my question was awkward but recently I've been learning getting into watching wrestling and understanding this sport.
isn't only a takedown causing opponent directly from on feet to on his back scored 4 points? this one is like from on feet to lateral side of body rather and would be a two-point takedown.
It was scored as a two point takedown followed by two point exposure. The takedown happens when Dake is on his butt with Burroughs having control of the hips. The exposure follows shortly after that, when Burroughs drives him backwards past a 90 degree and exposes the back.
Burroughs won the World title. Thought he could medal but didn't think he had another gold left. I was wrong. The entire US team looked good. Credit where it is due.
I have to admire Dake for staying at this weight class and having to fight Burroughs all the time unlike the big CHICKEN David Taylor who moved up in weight class because he knew he could NEVER beat either Burroughs or Dake who have beaten him over and over and over again.
@@TheTerryE i wonder what you have to say ab DT now that he is the world champion. Imo DT was the best pound for pound wrestler in the world for 2018. You could make a case for Sadulaev, but for me the magic man takes that title for 2018.
So Burroughs won because he got 4 points instead of the 2 that should have been scored? Don't get me wrong Burrough's is a beast and great comeback but Dake won that match.
Dake is a special wrestler! It amazes me how he is able to transfer his skill set to any weight class he competes in. He has to be super strong to even perform against J'den Cox in such a competitive manner. Even bo is not as competitive against a heavier world class athlete. Lastly, Burroughs has ice water in his veins to beat dake and Taylor. We need more weight-classes
No idea how Dake ever beat Taylor. When you watch Taylor wrestle you can tell he doesn't engage with Dake at the same level he does everyone elae - weird... Taylor is the much better wrestler. Dake has ZERO chance of ever winning an Olympic gold medal. He wasted too many years trying to get past Burroughs.
I watched over and over the moment when the score was 3/3 then Jordan receives 2 points on Dake’s pushout moves score ends being 5/4 with Jordan’s lead. How did Jordan get 2 points .? Did I miss something?
This series doesn't get enough credit in the wrestling world. I can't believe how much heart Burroughs had to put out there to win. I can't think of anyone better with a lead than Dake.
i like burroughs, but wtf dude? that finger in the eye was obviously intentional. idk how dake kept his composure, that may have been worthy of a challenge if you're allowed to challenge that.
Reginald Samtrob It’s not intentional. You’re clubbing and someone pops their head up and it happens. Everyone has been poked and poked someone. It happens. If you’re someone who posts on the forehead a lot you’re going to do it more often.
Ianoodin Make up for what? What calls shouldn’t he have gotten? And you just admitted to basing your view off of his race so you’re really not a good source.
Ianoodin But for you to think someone feels that way about an Olympic gold medalist and multiple world champion/medalist is ridiculous and reflects more of your personal beliefs. Aka you’re the one being bigoted.
