I would much rather disconnect from the gear like here. My company disconnects from the pushback first and the tension is severe enough that rampers are taught to pull on the tow pin while the pushback operator changes gears into reverse. This way the pin doesn't get stuck pulls out smoothly, but sometimes violently. Love pushing...have 3,000+ but who's counting.

I used to do that always thought 757s were the easiest to push off the gate.

nice push back, but when he finished the guy should of released from the tug. taking short cuts will get you into trouble.
