76 year-old Veteran Shares His Story | PEOPLE 

I apologize for the not so amazing audio quality of the interview. I filmed this story almost one year ago, but only now I had the chance of working on it. Looking back, I've done so many mistakes regarding the recording and the filmmaking part of it, it's crazy how things have changed. However, I found Paul's personality so charming and definitely worth of sharing. What did you think?

My Dad was in B Company at Plaman Mapu, I am so very proud of him, he is an incredible and very brave man.

Thank u so much for protecting our land. Im one of the MAPU generation, my grandparents and my parents was born there. And my familys house is very near to the camp. RIP to those who died on the battle.

My Dad got the only medal (GSM with clasp Borneo) of his 22 year army career for spending 3 months in a Royal Engineer store in Labbuan Island, well away from the fighting. I suppose at the end of the day every link in the chain was important and he did keep the troops on the front line well supplied. And when he came back home (We were in Singapore) he gave me my very first pair of real leather football boots, happy memories.

A really nice video...thank you. I found it very interesting because I am 79 years of age...I joined the Army in 1963 and went into the Army Air Corps....I also ended up in Borneo during the confrontation...initially based in Kuching on a forward repair team..I was there when Plaman Mapu battle took place. I smiled when I saw that we both had the same medals..the GSM Borneo and the Pinjat Malaysia 8:58 ...like Paul I too used to be very much into running whilst in the Army...and like him I did my six years...although they tried to get me to sign on for another three...I had decided to come out back into civvy life. Nice to see another old soldier who like me thinks that his days in the Army formed some of the best years of his life.❤
