That was so interesting! My sister and I started watching the bear cams in 2016 and that was when we first saw Lefty. We called him Splasher bear because he entertained us immensely hopping and splashing all over in front of the falls when we first started watching. We watched him progress and learn how to catch fish that season. By the end of the season he was a machine catching fish on the lip and we were amazed how many he'd catch and eat in a row. We were brand new to the cams and the message boards that year. We became big fans of his, Otis, and a fierce mama bear named Grazer and her 3 COYs. We have both been hooked ever since. Mike talks about 2015 in this video, but we definitely watched him learn how to fish in 2016. Might've taken him 2 years! 😁❤

Such a great video, thank you Mike! I really enjoyed watching Lefty learn how to fish over the years, especially since I have just started watching this year. It is remarkable to think how far he's come from his beginning at the Falls. I especially loved watching him this year--that day on the lip where he was bobbing his head and tapping his paw. He has quickly become one of my favorites. Here's to hoping MB will come back and we can see him progress in the same manner!
I love this! I love watching the cam but I’m new to it so I don’t always know what I’m watching so I love and appreciate the story and background! Also that belly flop melted my heart.
Seeing Lefty learn how to fish is a great story, and illustrates the bears at the Falls don't just sit down and start catching fish, Lefty had to learn skills.
We always amazed at your new ideas each and every year of those very interesting moments!!! You folks are sooooo CREATIVE!!!!! Thank you very much for your time!!!

so funny.....can see the desperation in early days, but just like life in general.....things go much better the calmer, calculating and smoother you go about it
@@maandren Earlier this month, an unrecognized adult male showed up at Brooks Falls. I don't think we had ever seen him before, so he didn't have an assigned ID number. Many cam viewers called him "mystery bear" or, shortened, MB.
