Damn spray.. I watch your videos.. and to see that you watch other painters videos shows me that you are the best to me.. when you watch other people do what you do and compliment them.. that show me that you really can teach someone something because even the teachers learn everyday.... Big ups spray 💪💪💪
I agree with sprayway... Tremendous work and thanks for talking little and more work... That was the perfect color for that car... I'm ready to see the final project can't wait...
Man, wish I had buddies that were into doing this kind of stuff. I really like doing this stuff, but it's definitely more fun with a friend. Thanks for the video.
Say homs we chopped it up on another one of your videos. Soy Yiyo from Bakersfield. Just wanted to say you got me super motivated on my 79 project and this Friday I take it in to my boy to do all bodywork and get it ready for paint. Now paint will come later in the near future but as of for now I'm getting body done up slapping a light gray primer give it a nice squat and throw it on whitewalls for now.
That's whats up! Glad my progress on my Monte is motivating you... when I had mine in primer I was tempted on driving it like that for a while. I really like how these look in primer. Your 79 is going to look clean 🔥💯
Looks good. Easy tip my uncle taught me is to take off the trunk lid...tape off the inside of trunk(if needed) and spray the roof while standing in the trunk
Been watching from the beginning to get an idea of what I could do with my 78 sitting in the garage. This is beautiful man! I’m changing drums this week but I’ll get here one day.
Nice! The price is time oh and a lot of patience but it can definitely be done 💯. I did a drum brake job on my Regal too. I have a video coming up on it. Swapped pads, wheel cylinders and hardware 💪
@@StillStandingGarage Hell yeah bro I appreciate your videos I got the same set up compressor you got. Because of your videos also I started paining 2 stage paint jobs.
😀Wow!!! It came out badass!!!! I was checking your channel everyday for this!! Awesome Job!!! I’m not kidding about my car, whenever you feel ready, let’s talk about it! Thanks
To reach the roof easier next go around lower the air pressure in the tires to like 5-10 psi it’ll bring the car down a bit, helps to reach. Atleast that’s what I do
Thank you! I really appreciate it! It was challenging but glad I took a step back and went for it again...just saw your video this morning.... Maaaan you laid that glass on it 💦💦💦 Them wheels are 🔥🔥🔥
@@StillStandingGarage thanks buddy! I’m in disbelief it laid out like that. Should make the cut and buff go a lot faster for sure. Also thinking that it’s good to not have to sand through as much clear to get it flat. I appreciate the compliment!
@@StillStandingGarage yep. I remember it being like that. I liked the jc6700. It was very glossy, but it seemed like it was soft. Even after weeks of curing. I used it for a couple cars. It mixed 2:1 like that grant 7.
I haven't really touched the panels since I sprayed it other than closing the hood. Still have to spray the bumpers and smaller pieces then it's time to cut and buff 💪
Been watching since day one bro ride looks clean. I’m about to start me a cutlass project learned a lot of stuff from your Channel..Keep up the good work, “let’s go”
Nice work bro. Lines are nice n straight. I wish I can do what your doin. Its hard working on the Elco in my apartment parking lot. Im at a complete stand still right now. I live in Colorado emissions here are tough. Gotta reinstall all my emissions components. I just did my floor pans, was gonna Por15. Hopefully I find all my parts here soon. Good videos. Subscribed ✌️
Thank you! I hear you I put my projects on hold for over 15 years...glad I didn't sell them and finally got back on them... damn emissions suck.... bad ass! I haven't replaced floors before, how was it?
I was all sad when I seen how much rust I had under my carpet lol it wasn't too bad, I cut out old rusty floor out, sanded surface rust down, I ordered front n rear panels. I was gonna pick up a welder, but after all said n done I would have spent about $350 on tools to weld in myself. I ended up finding this old school homie to weld in panels for $100. I love that pearl blue. I Wana go with ultra charcoal grey on the Elco. My body is ready. One more coat of primer n one more block I should be ready.
That shit came out super clean bro! Nice work. Renting a paint booth would be awesome for future jobs and money coming in with that kind of quality brotha 👌. Nice shit! Let me know how much to spray my 60 bel-air haha
Thank you 🙏 💯 I'm documenting everything on this build... this one is not getting switches.. I'm planning on driving it "stock" for a good while. Thank you for watching 👊💯
Wow my gun at 28psi I cant see anything. after about 5 minutes of spraying clear. Is that a HTE or high efficiency transfer gun? way to go is DIY.....it cost too much to have a car painted anymore.
It's a regular HVLP gun. You probably need more air flow where you're spraying. I can honestly say that now I know why shops charge what they charge especially for a restoration job. This is labor intense and very time consuming.
For the "drop coat" did you move the gun around to disperse the metallics? Getting ready to paint my El Camino. I have sprayed some Enamel color just to check my body work and noticed that I need to move the gun around to disperse the metallic. My color is 58, Light Chestnut.
I dropped my psi about 1 to 2 psi and then proceeded to spray the car using the same overlap pattern, but at about 15 inches away from the panel. This will allow the pearl or metallic to even out. That's a nice color for your Elco 🔥💯
Tough painting in a ghetto rigged garage, but we got to do what it takes. I am redoing an 86 Elco. What did you use for door handles after you took yours off?
@@StillStandingGarage Yeah, but how did you rig up a device to open the doors? You use some bailing wire? Do you have a video fixing the rust on the 79. Cut and replace? Got a welder?
Great video I've been looking for that Grant 7 clear coat do you remember where did you buy it I'm trying to order it I heard his real good but I can't find it
Welcome to the channel 🤝. It didn't smell bad at all. My neighbors didn't know I painted my car in the garage, lol. I didn't get any complaints. I worked 2nd shift at the time, so I would work on it in the mornings, and no one noticed. Thank you for watching 💪💯
Hey you did a great job on that car bro, it look good out in the sun that color is popping. One question though did you use the same gun just keep cleaning it through the whole job?
